Chapter 116 Nuclear Step Collaboration
Chapter 116 Nuclear Step Collaboration
One month later, the designated scorched earth isolation zone was established outside the Petitia nest capital.
The Valkyrie's cockpit was filled with the dull roar of the engines and the slight vibrations of the fuselage. Through the reinforced glass canopy, the pilot's gaze swept over the boundless, nauseating green ocean below.
Hundreds of thousands of green-skinned soldiers converged into a slow-moving torrent, their roars barely audible even high in the sky. Countless rudimentary war machines spewed black smoke, leaving filthy tracks in the vast army. This destructive wave was relentlessly crawling towards Peditia.
"This is it," the pilot murmured, his voice slightly distorted through the communication helmet. He adjusted the flight attitude, tilting the fuselage slightly to more clearly lock onto the densest core area of the green tide below. "Anyway, with the power of a strategic nuclear weapon, a few dozen meters of error won't make a difference..."
With that, he flicked his fingers and disarmed the weapon safety on the control panel. Then, he steadily pulled the control stick upwards, causing the Valkyrie's nose to rise slightly and the bomb bay under its belly to open.
A massive cylinder, painted with black and yellow warning stripes, detached from the fuselage with the silence of death.
Without the slightest hesitation, the pilot slammed the engine to maximum thrust, and the Valkyrie roared as it spewed out scorching plasma from its tail, escaping into the distant horizon at top speed.
Behind it, the bomb, pulled by gravity, became a rapidly falling black dot, precisely plunging into that vast, oblivious green ocean.
A pure, indescribable white light burst forth on the horizon, like a sun rising from the earth. The light swept across the land at an incredible speed, instantly bleaching the earth and swallowing all color and shadow.
Immediately following was a devastating roar that could rip eardrums apart and a shockwave that shook the heavens and the earth.
The earth seemed to be gripped tightly by an invisible giant hand, then violently shook and tore apart. The green-skinned people, chariots, and even soil and rocks on the ground were instantly vaporized and evaporated, turning into the most primordial particles. A gigantic fireball expanded wildly, engulfing everything around it and turning it into fuel.
On the ground, in a pre-arranged position several kilometers from the epicenter, tens of thousands of players had already assembled. They lay in ambush behind hastily dug trenches and bunkers, feeling the violent tremors beneath their feet, like an earthquake.
Assassin knelt on one knee, shielding his eyes from the blinding light with his arm. As the light subsided slightly, he looked up and saw the mushroom cloud slowly rising in the distance, blotting out the sky. He grinned: "Hahaha, the time has come! All troops, charge!"
As the bugle sounded, [Assimilation Complete] and [BUG] leaped out of their bunkers without hesitation. Around them, thousands upon thousands of figures simultaneously launched their charge. These daredevils, fearless and resolute, charged into the death zone, recently devastated by a nuclear explosion and with radiation levels off the charts.
"I never imagined I'd get to experience Soviet combat tactics from the Cold War era!" BUG shouted excitedly as he ran. "Nuclear bombs being dropped from the sky, and ground troops following the intense pressure of the nuclear bombs... How awesome is that!"
"Don't talk while running," Assimilation glanced at him, "be careful not to get a side stitch."
"It's okay, I feel like I'm getting more and more energetic!" BUG's voice was full of excitement. "The drug must be starting to take effect, I feel more and more excited! Do you think that newly added anti-radiation drug will really work?"
"It will definitely be effective within at least a dozen hours." Assimilation said, glancing at the wildly fluctuating numbers on the portable Geiger counter on his wrist. "The oil guy's technical skills are still trustworthy."
"What's the reading?" someone asked curiously, noticing the bug in his movements.
"Not much," Assimilation replied casually, "about the same as the radiation core area when Chernobyl was leaking."
"Holy crap!" BUG jolted awake, the metaphor jolting him from his frenzy. He instinctively shuddered. "Do we really only have a dozen or so hours left to live?"
"You have to believe in the resilience of 40 humans," Assimilation replied calmly, his gaze already passing over the billowing smoke and dust ahead, locking onto the surviving orcs struggling and wailing on the edge of the nuclear explosion. "There are mortal armies that have fought against the Nurgle army for a month, so what's a little radiation..."
Assimilation paused for a moment, then continued, "However, in the future, we should be the Star Forces least afraid of fighting alongside the Faith Guardians."
……
In the heart of that scorched earth burned by nuclear fire, the surviving greens are experiencing unprecedented torment.
Radiation, this invisible and insidious killer, is silently eroding their rough and resilient cellular structure. "WAAAGH..."
The war boss recovered from the violent shockwave. Its head, harder than steel, shook violently, trying to shake off the buzzing in its head that sounded like a million farts screaming.
It stood up, supporting itself with its massive battle axe. Everything in its field of vision was still distorted and swaying, and the air was filled with a pungent, strange smell that was a mixture of ozone and roasted meat.
"Boss..." A green-skinned boy, charred black and barely alive, dragged his heavy steps closer, panting heavily, his voice weak, "I...I feel so awful..."
Not to mention this kid, even the war boss himself felt a weakness that came from the bone marrow, as if something had drained away most of the inexhaustible strength in his body.
It frowned its thick brows and, based on past experience, roared in its thunderous voice, "Let the pig veterinarian give you some toxic medicine!"
But this time, the "miracle drug" that had always worked failed.
Several veterinarians, wielding their enormous, filthy syringes, injected bubbling, strangely colored liquid into the piglets' bodies. The familiar, stimulating sensation did invigorate them, making them even more excited and agitated, but the deep-seated weakness remained, like a persistent, unyielding infection.
The pig farmers were also baffled. They scratched their heads, trying to figure out what was going on. Given enough time, with their peculiar technological abilities and biological instincts, the green-skinned animals might actually be able to devise a solution to combat the radiation. But…
Humans didn't give them that time.
"Boss! Shrimp! It's shrimp coming!" A lookout shouted as he scrambled over from a distance.
"What?" The war boss suddenly looked up, gazing at the billowing dust on the horizon. Against that gray backdrop, countless tiny, black figures were converging into a torrent, rushing towards them. It understood instantly.
"So it was all the shrimp's doing! It was a shrimp's conspiracy!" Its scarlet eyes blazed with fury. "Those cunning, despicable shrimps!"
It raised its battle axe, pointed it at the charging black tide, and roared deafeningly, "Kill them all!!"
The next second, two waves representing different species and different wills collided violently. The black army of the dead faced off against the green Ork tribe. However, the expected fierce and evenly matched slaughter did not occur.
The result was a one-sided massacre.
The black waves, like a red-hot branding iron, easily burned through the seemingly surging green waves.
BUG charged ahead, his machete whirring as he rammed into a green-skinned creature two heads taller than him. He roared, channeling all his strength into his arms, and swung the machete down with furious force!
"clang--!"
The two weapons clashed violently in mid-air, sparks flying everywhere. Bug was prepared to be knocked back by the immense force, but to his surprise, the force transmitted from the opponent's weapon was... surprisingly weak.
In the first struggle, the tall and burly green-skinned man was actually knocked back by his chop and was clearly at a disadvantage!
Bug was stunned for a moment, then realized that the radiation had worked, and a wildly arrogant laugh appeared on his face.
"Hahahaha!" He sneered as he seized the opportunity to stab the green-skinned man in the abdomen, "Little Oak brothers, use your strength! Didn't you eat?!"
