Chapter 234 Wall of Flesh and Blood

Chapter 234 Wall of Flesh and Blood

Under the intense light, the Terran Zerg's meticulously planned infiltration tactics failed. The Bladebugs, acting as their "eyes," descended into a frenzy of sensory derangement, and the entire infiltration formation crumbled.

But being blind doesn't mean they've gone mad. The node creature in charge of command, upon realizing the tactic had failed, decisively abandoned this responsible approach.

The complex chain of instructions was broken, replaced by a single, most basic, and most effective command.

charge!

"hiss--!!!"

As if responding to a silent horn, all the Tyranids, who had been scrambling and lurking behind cover in the bright light, moved in unison in an instant. They stopped dodging and searching for cover, instead pointing their limbs towards the hilltop positions, emitting deafening hisses, and surging forward in a dark purple tidal wave!

"They're going to charge! Everyone, fire freely! Give me all your ammunition!"

Platoon leader Wang Gou Dan stood at the temporary command post, watching the swarm of insects rapidly coalesce from a loose formation into an unstoppable torrent. He spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva and roared loudly through the communicator.

The soldiers on the front lines, ready to die, reacted immediately. That familiar feeling was back!

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The roar of the heavy bombs rang out first, exploding into bursts of flesh and blood amidst the swarm of insects. Immediately following, automatic guns, laser guns, heavy logging guns… the roars of all weapons merged into a symphony of steel and death.

The first rank of charging crickets was torn to shreds by the dense barrage of fire when they were still a hundred meters from the position, green blood and shattered carapaces flying everywhere. However, their deaths did not deter their brethren behind them. More crickets trampled over the corpses of their fallen comrades, surging forward wave after wave.

Platoon leader Wang Gou Dan's automatic rifle was already scorching hot. He quickly changed to a new magazine and fired a burst at a warrior insect trying to leap into the trench. The bullets bounced off the insect's tough carapace, only causing it to stagger. The next second, the warrior insect swung its scythe-like claws, cleaving a player next to Wang Gou Dan in two at the waist!
"brush--"

Almost at the same time, the player's figure flashed next to his class monitor.

"Holy crap! Platoon leader, that thing has thick armor!" the resurrected player shouted in the communication channel.

"Use grenades! Focus fire on that big one!" Wang Gou Dan roared, dodging another knife-like insect's attack while simultaneously stabbing its combat dagger deep into its eye socket.

The entire hilly position had become a giant meat grinder. The fallen soldiers, relying on their newly constructed fortifications, unleashed a torrent of fire. The swarms of insects, with their overwhelming numerical superiority, charged the defensive line time and again. Corpses and spent shell casings rapidly piled up in the trenches, the pungent stench of blood and gunpowder mingling and assaulting the senses of everyone present.

However, not all areas were impregnable. Long Aotian's squad, responsible for the extension of the flank, was slower in digging their trenches, which were noticeably shallower than those in other areas.

When the swarm of insects arrived, this weakness was immediately exposed. Players elsewhere could comfortably prop their weapons against the breastwork and fire, but here, those meter-long bladed insects could leap over the steep slope and grab their helmets in a single bound!

"Pfft!"

As a player revived and stood up, he was pierced through the chest by the sharp claws of a knife-like insect that had reached in from the edge of the trench.

"I can't take it anymore! There are too many bugs!"

"I've been reborn, I'm coming back soon! Hang in there!"

Long Aotian's anxious shouts came through the communication channel. He was practically roaring at the top of his lungs: "Platoon leader! Long Aotian is calling! We haven't finished digging our trenches yet, and the bugs are too tall. They can hit us right in the chest!"

Wang Gou Dan was smashing the corpse of a knife worm down a steep slope with the butt of his rifle when he heard the call. He glanced at the precarious defensive line on his flank out of the corner of his eye and cursed into the communicator without thinking: "Damn it, Long Aotian, are you an idiot?!"

He roared as he blasted a bug that tried to climb up in two with his automatic rifle, hot shell casings splattering onto his face. "Why aren't you using your teammates' corpses as cover? Get them piled up!"

There was a brief two-second silence on the communication channel.

The next moment, Long Aotian's voice rang out with sudden realization: "Damn! That's right! Brothers, quick! Drag the brothers who just died over here and pile them up in front! Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Long Aotian's team immediately understood. The players, who had been scrambling to figure out the trenches were too shallow, instantly found a new focus.

"Er Gouzi, you just died, your body's still warm, use yours first!"

"Get out! Why should I use mine? Use the ones over there! He's died three times already, his body's cold and sturdy!"

Braving a hail of bullets, the players dragged over the "previous lives" of their newly spawned teammates and hastily piled them up in front of the trench. Soon, a veritable "Great Wall of Flesh and Blood" made up of the corpses of those going to their deaths rose from the ground, successfully buying them valuable firing height and buffer space.

As the one who proposed this ingenious tactic, Platoon Leader Wang Gou Dan was standing at the intersection of the trenches, gesturing confidently and authoritatively.

"Ye Liangchen! Don't hold back your grenades! Bomb the hell out of him!"

"Gu Beixuan! You've used up all the landmines, so throw me some hand grenades!"

"Long Aotian! Make the wall of corpses even higher!"

Such high-profile command was undoubtedly a beacon of light on the chaotic battlefield, guiding friendly forces while also drawing the attention of the enemy.

Just as Wang Gou Dan was shouting and spitting as he spoke, three enormous black shadows, using the smoke and dust from the heavy weapon explosions as cover, silently crept up to the vicinity of the position. Their bodies, covered in thick carapaces, were much larger than ordinary knife insects, and the bone knives on their four arms were even more ferocious and terrifying.

It's the Tyranid Warriors! The Hive's will at the nerve nodes of the battlefield!

"hiss--!"

With a sharp screech, three Tyrannical warriors leaped out of the thick fog, over piles of corpses and sandbags, and crashed heavily into the trench where Wang Gou Dan was!
Dirt and bits of meat splattered everywhere.

One second Wang Gou Dan was talking animatedly, the next he found three killing machines, each over two meters tall, staring intently at him with their emotionless compound eyes. The overwhelming stench almost suffocated him.

In a split second, Wang Gou Dan's survival instinct overwhelmed everything. He screamed at the top of his lungs, "Protect the Emperor—!"

Before the shout had even faded, he had already turned and run without hesitation, his movements so fluid as if he had rehearsed them a thousand times.

As a platoon leader, he certainly couldn't afford to die carelessly just because he could be resurrected. Although the company commander was also on the rear lines and could quickly arrive after resurrection, the battle situation changed rapidly, and every death of a commander could create a fatal gap in the defensive line. Maintaining the continuity of command was paramount. As long as the fighting continues, there's always hope!

He ran incredibly fast, while the three Tyrannical warriors that jumped into the trenches caught the other suicide bombers off guard, unleashing a bloody storm that the players couldn't defeat for a while.

Looking at the defensive line behind him that had been instantly thrown into chaos, Wang Gou Dan remained calm. He knew that it wouldn't be long before these few imposing insects would be blasted to ashes by his bloodthirsty brothers through self-destruction.

However, it was precisely in the face of such a perilous situation that a thought flashed through his mind like lightning, causing him to pause in his running.

"Wait a minute, where's our Astartes?"
