Chapter 241 Ultramarines: Testing the Bugs
Chapter 241 Ultramarines: Testing the Bugs (Deploying a Titan of the General Rank)
As the steel torrent of humanity appeared on the horizon, an endless tide of life surged forth from the vitrified wasteland. Tens of thousands of Tyranids emerged from the radioactive dust, emitting sharp hisses as they surged forward like a tidal wave.
"Fire!"
The Leman Rustank's turret spun, its main gun roaring deafeningly. High-explosive shells exploded in the swarm, each blast sending dozens of small aliens flying along with the ground beneath them. Vehicle-mounted heavy-explosive shells and laser cannons also began a frenzied barrage, tearing bloody trenches through the insect tide.
However, there were simply too many insects. They charged through the artillery barrage without fear of death and collided with the armored formation in an instant.
The suicide bombers hanging outside the tank immediately demonstrated their value as "expendable resources." They yelled and threw their grenades into the swarm of insects as if they were free, then raised their laser guns or automatic guns and fired wildly at the insects trying to climb onto the vehicle.
"Die!" A player was pounced on by three knife-like insects. Before being torn apart by their scythe-like forelimbs, he detonated all the explosives on his body. After a loud bang, he and the insects turned into pieces scattered everywhere.
The Astartes were the most efficient killers. The Space Marines formed unbreakable combat teams, the roar of their bomb guns never ceasing, each powerful bomb capable of blasting a small insect to pieces; their chainswords hummed as they easily sliced through the Xenomorph's carapace and flesh, sending up waves of foul-smelling bodily fluids.
The battle instantly intensified.
Just then, the glazed ground beneath a firing Chimera troop carrier suddenly exploded, and a gigantic, snake-like head covered in ferocious teeth burst from the ground!
It's a python digging!
Its gaping maw opened to its limit, and with lightning speed, it pecked upwards, swallowing the more than ten-ton chimera along with the seven or eight players on its roof!
"Fuck!"
"Old Li and his men have been eaten!"
A gasp rippled through the surrounding survivors. But before they could even lament their companion's "sacrifice," the python, having just finished its hunt, froze. Its massive body began to swell and convulse unnaturally, and an ominous red glow emanated from its throat, as if it had swallowed a red-hot iron.
"boom--!!!!"
A muffled, deafening roar erupted from the python's body. The terrifying explosive force blasted its thick neck into a mangled mess, blood, flesh, internal organs, and red-hot metal fragments mingling together to form a horrifying rain of blood that sprayed in all directions. The massive head slumped limply, crashing heavily to the ground, utterly lifeless.
Silence fell over the communication channel, followed by an even louder shout: "Awesome! Internal explosion!"
"How many times have I told you, don't eat us who are going to our deaths, it will bring you misfortune!"
"Hahaha, this bug probably hasn't seen our game forum! Eat us? If you have a sensitive stomach, don't eat random things!"
Swallowing any one of the suicide victims would not be a wise choice, because almost all of them would explode! And swallowing a whole truckload of suicide victims would be tantamount to swallowing a 500-kilogram aerial bomb.
This minor incident was merely a microcosm of the countless bloody moments on this vast battlefield. The steel torrent did not falter in the slightest, crushing over the corpses of the digging pythons and the endless swarms of insects, continuing its relentless advance deeper into the wasteland, towards the core of the insect hive's will.
Humanity's desperate advance did not frighten the Tyranids; instead, it ignited their deeper ferocity. More colossal creatures emerged from the earth's depths or from the distant spore fog, making the battle increasingly brutal.
Just as the armored spearheads were struggling to crush wave after wave of insect swarms and try to maintain their momentum, a chilling psionic pressure suddenly descended, like an invisible giant hand gripping the soul of everyone on the battlefield.
"Watch out! High-level psionic unit!" A warning from a think tank rang out in the Astartes channel.
Almost simultaneously, a massive shadow descended from the sky, slamming heavily onto the frontal armor of a Leman Rustank with a whistling sound that tore through the air. The thick steel plates groaned in pain under the impact, and the entire vehicle sank sharply downwards!
It was a terrifying creature, a perfect embodiment of slaughter—the Hive Tyrant.
It was much larger than an ordinary executioner, its muscular body covered in a thick chitinous carapace. Of its four arms, two had transformed into enormous, gleaming, scythe-like claws, while the other two wielded a massive bone sword made of bone and tendons, and a whip capable of easily cleaving terracotta. A pair of compound eyes, gleaming with malevolent wisdom, coldly scanned the surrounding enemies.
Its appearance seemed to inject a backbone into the chaotic swarm. The surrounding Tyranid attacks became more organized and more deadly.
"Take down that big guy!" a company commander roared in the company channel, aiming his vehicle-mounted heavy explosives at the Tyrant.
But the Hive Tyrant's reaction speed was beyond imagination. Before the heavy explosives could unleash their flames, it leaped forward, its massive wings flapping, easily dodging the barrage and landing nimbly on the roof of another chimera. "Clang!"
As the bone sword swung down, the relatively thin top armor of the Chimera troop carrier was sliced open like a piece of paper.
Several suicide bombers leaped out of the breach with screams, their molten spears aimed at the tyrant's nearby body. However, the tyrant's other hand lashed out with lightning speed, whipping a whip that streaked through the air and precisely shattered them along with the molten spears.
An Ultra Warrior roared "Courage and Glory!", activated his jump pack, and transformed into a red meteor, his chainsaw sword aimed straight for the Tyrant's head.
But obviously not everyone is Sicarius.
Faced with this devastating attack, the Hive Tyrant remained remarkably calm. Instead of retreating, it advanced, its massive bone sword rising at an incredible angle to parry the rapidly spinning chainsaw blade, creating a burst of blinding sparks. Simultaneously, its scythe-like claws flashed out like lightning, instantly piercing through its terracotta armor and chest plates, shattering its heart.
The attack is invalid!
Whether it was the heavy firepower of mortals or the deadly attacks of superhumans, all were easily neutralized by this cautious yet powerful monster. Like a seasoned swordsman, it strolled leisurely across the chaotic battlefield, each strike precise and efficient. It leaped from one imperial war chariot to another, its bone sword and claws tearing through the steel shells, turning the empire's war machines into piles of burning scrap metal.
Under its stirring, the armored spearhead, which had been advancing relentlessly, actually showed signs of slowing down.
Just as the Hive Tyrant was about to pierce the turret of a Leman Rustank with its claws and destroy it completely, an extreme, instinctive fear seized its mind.
The light on the entire battlefield seemed to dim for a moment.
The air itself seemed to be shrieking.
An indescribable, incandescent white beam of light, seemingly extracted directly from the core of the sun, shot out from the distant spore fog, instantly traversing a distance of several kilometers.
Time seemed to stretch out at that moment. Reinhard's eyepiece captured the beam of light precisely enveloping the arrogant Hive Tyrant and the Leman Rustank being dismantled beneath its feet.
After the beam of light faded, only a huge, mirror-smooth, vitrified crater remained, still emitting bluish smoke. Both the powerful insectoid tyrant and the massive steel behemoth weighing tens of tons had vanished completely, leaving not even a trace of ash.
A strange silence fell over the battlefield for several seconds, followed by a rhythmic and violent tremor as if some indescribable behemoth was approaching.
"Woo——!!!"
A magnificent horn sound, seemingly from ancient times, played by metal and steam, pierced through the thick fog and shook the soul of everyone.
An unimaginably massive silhouette slowly emerged from the dense fog of spores.
It was a walking deity, a mobile war fortress. Its legs, like the pillars of a city, left enormous footprints on the earth with every step. Its torso was adorned with countless Gothic reliefs and the imperial double-headed eagle emblem, and its shoulders carried massive weapon platforms capable of destroying an entire legion. Its head, a command center as solemn as a cathedral, overlooked this mortal battlefield through gleaming red-lit eyepieces—
A Titan of warrior caliber.
"Holy crap!" BUG's eyes widened as he stood on the roof of the chimera, gazing up at the slowly approaching steel statue, feeling his worldview being shattered. "Is this a test?! What kind of Imperial army would send out a Titan to test the waters?"
Yes, this was a test.
As a Glory Queen-class battleship hovers high above a planet's orbit, while millions of mortal troops and over a hundred thousand Space Marines battle an endless horde of enemies on the ground...
On a battlefield so magnificent that it could be recorded in the epic history of an empire, regardless of the outcome, wouldn't it be perfectly reasonable and normal to deploy a general-class Titan just to "test" the enemy's strength?
