Chapter 111 The Maid's Work

Chapter 111 The Maid's Work

"Take the young master?!"

Ludwig was completely dumbfounded, frozen in place, his eyes wide open like saucers.

The next second, he suddenly raised his hand and touched Morin's forehead.

"Did you get beaten senseless in Aragorn? Are you delirious with fever?"

Maureen slapped his hand away, both amused and exasperated: "I don't have a fever, and I'm not talking nonsense. It's true."

"Really?" Ludwig still couldn't believe it. "Twenty million marks? Do you know what that means? Has the Imperial Patent Office gone mad? Or are you crazy?"

"Perhaps His Highness the Crown Prince has gone mad."

"His Highness the Crown Prince? How did we get onto the topic of His Highness the Crown Prince?"

Seeing Ludwig's horrified expression, Morin knew that this was indeed a bit unbelievable.

He had no choice but to tell Ludwig exactly what Crown Prince George had promised him.

After hearing Morin's story, Ludwig's mouth gaped open, and he couldn't close it for a long time.

He stared blankly at Morin, his eyes filled with shock and a hint of envy.

"you boy"

After a long pause, Ludwig finally spoke, still somewhat bewildered:

“This is going to heaven!”

To receive such favor and high regard from His Highness the Crown Prince is a dream opportunity for most Saxon officers.

"It seems your future is truly limitless, Friedrich," Ludwig exclaimed sincerely.

He patted Morin on the shoulder, his expression shifting from shock to sincere congratulations.

"Let's wait until we actually get the money before making any decisions; who knows what might go wrong?"

Although Morin said that, he was secretly overjoyed, and at the same time, a thought flashed through his mind—he absolutely couldn't let this money end up only buying 40 loaves of bread!

Just then, the young girl that Maureen had met in the room also came out of the patent office.

She seemed somewhat disappointed, clutching the file folder tightly in her arms, and walked quickly outside with her head down.

As she reached the door, she seemed to notice Maureen's gaze and instinctively looked up.

The two looked at each other.

The girl paused for a moment, then politely nodded to Morin and Ludwig before quickening her pace and leaving, disappearing around the corner in no time.

Ludwig watched as Morin stared intently at the girl's departing figure, and a mischievous 'I understand you' smile immediately appeared on his face.

"As expected of the 'famous playboy of Dresden,' you haven't changed at all. You still can't resist beautiful women."

"It's not what you think."

Morin quickly looked away and explained in a serious tone.

"When I was in the room just now, I overheard that the girl seemed to be a gun designer."

"Firearms designer?"

Ludwig curled his lip in disbelief.

"Such a young gun designer? Friedrich, if you're going to make up a lie, at least come up with a plausible reason!!"

“I’m not lying to you.” Morin said with a hint of helplessness. “I think I also heard something like ‘air-cooled light machine gun’.”

"Alright, alright, don't explain to me. Don't worry, what kind of relationship do we have? We're sworn brothers! I would never tell Patricia any of this."

Morin: "."

Soon, Ludwig sent Morin back to Cecilia's estate.

Before leaving, he repeatedly told Morin that once the patent was granted and the Knights began testing, Morin must make time to go and see.

Morin readily agreed, and at the same time wondered if he could conduct joint training exercises with the Teutonic Knights if he formed a commando team in the future.

After seeing Ludwig off, Maureen originally wanted to go and chat with Cecilia.

He had a feeling that this woman had been somewhat unhappy since yesterday.

From the moment they picked up Morin from the camp, the other party showed him great care and concern; their thoughtfulness and tenderness were genuine.

However, when he returned to the manor and asked the maids, he was told that Cecilia had gone to the factory early that morning and was not at the manor.

Morin had no choice but to give up.

However, with Cecilia not around, he felt somewhat idle and lost in the vast manor.

It was really boring staying in that ridiculously large room.

He didn't quite understand the various rare treasures and oil paintings that filled the room.
Bored, he decided to wander around the manor and curiously observe the maids at work.

Before his transmigration, his understanding of the 'maid' profession came mostly from comics or games he played during his student days.
Therefore, he was quite curious about the actual daily work of a maid.

After their brief encounters yesterday and this morning, the maids in the manor seemed to have noticed that the legendary unruly young master Morin seemed to have become a different person after returning from the battlefield.

He no longer stared at them with an aggressive gaze, nor did he make any strange demands. Therefore, the maids in the manor no longer felt the same fear and tension they had at the beginning when facing him.

Morin didn't disturb them, but simply observed their work quietly like a bystander.

I saw them carefully wiping every piece of furniture with damp cloths; I saw them ironing the washed clothes until they were perfectly flat; I saw them meticulously pruning every flower and plant in the garden.
Occasionally, when he feels curious, he will take the initiative to go up and ask a question or two.

Why use two different mops to clean the floor?

"Young master, the dark-colored one is for wiping the wooden floor, and the light-colored one is for cleaning the outer stone pavement."

"So you have to clean the entire manor every day?"

"Yes, young master, this is the head maid's rule."

As the conversation unfolded, the maids gradually realized that the young master seemed to be simply curious and had no other intentions.

They became less reserved and even started chatting with Morin.

After observing for a while, Maureen discovered that the real maids didn't seem to be as leisurely as depicted in the comics, and they certainly didn't have much time to flirt with the protagonist.

In fact, the maids in this manor have strict distinctions in their daily work and workload according to their different ranks.

The highest-ranking one is naturally the head maid, Luna.

She is a middle-class woman with a good education.

While serving as head maid, she was also Cecilia's private secretary, responsible for handling daily paperwork and scheduling.

Secondly, there were several personal maids.

They were specifically responsible for Cecilia's personal affairs, including helping her with her hair and makeup, tidying her room, and accompanying her when she went out.

Then came the cleaning maid, which was closer to Maureen's understanding of the 'maid' profession.

They are also the regular maids in the manor, the most numerous, and are mainly responsible for cleaning and tidying up various areas of the manor.

The lowest-ranking and most demanding jobs were those of laundry maids and kitchen helpers.

They are usually new or clumsy maids who have to do a lot of physical work every day.
Throughout the day, thanks to the charm buff of being the famous playboy of Dresden, coupled with his approachable and unpretentious manner, Morin got along very well with the maids in the manor.

Especially the younger, less worldly-wise maids who had only recently arrived at the manor were much less reserved in the presence of this handsome and easygoing young master.

In the afternoon, while resting in the garden, Morin, feeling bored, simply pulled a few maids who came to serve tea and snacks to sit in the pavilion and chat.

For some reason, Morin felt quite relaxed when facing these innocent and guileless maids.

That mouth that used to joke with socialites at parties was also 'activated,' quickly making the maids giggle, creating a cheerful atmosphere.

Before long, many maids came to 'work' in the garden.

Some came under the pretext of watering the flowers, while others said they wanted to wipe the railings of the pavilion.

Mo Lin had barely taken a sip of water from his cup when someone immediately came over to refill it.

The plate of snacks in front of him was always kept full.

The pavilion in the garden was spotless, but several maids remained there, wiping it again and again with rags.

For a time, the entire garden was bustling with women of all shapes and sizes, a truly lively scene.

To be honest, this situation has gotten out of Morin's control. He was just bored and wanted to talk to someone, but he never expected it to turn out like this.

"How decadent! How utterly decadent!"

He was inwardly criticizing himself while listening to the maids recounting gossip circulating among them.

This lively scene continued until evening.

The atmosphere in the garden changed completely when a black car slowly drove into the estate.

Cecilia and head maid Luna got out of the carriage.

When she saw a group of maids laughing and joking around Morin in the garden, she visibly paused.

The maids who had been surrounding Morin scattered like startled rabbits when they saw their mistress return.

In the blink of an eye, the once bustling pavilion was now empty except for Morin.

Cecilia walked over expressionlessly, her gaze lingering on Morin for a moment before sweeping over the almost untouched snacks and tea on the table.

"It seems Fritz is quite comfortable here, which makes me happy."

Her tone was flat and even, but Maureen keenly sensed something was off about her.

Thinking back on the past few days, there seemed to be some distance between the two of them, and they hadn't had a proper chat.

Morin then stood up, a fawning smile on his face, and went to greet her.

"Sister Cecilia, you're back. Have you finished with things at the factory?"

He accompanied Cecilia as they walked towards the main building of the manor.

Seeing this, Luna, the head maid following behind, smiled knowingly. She wisely refrained from following and instead smiled as she took her leave to arrange dinner.
