Chapter 14: Long staff pierces throat, kill!

Lin Yi appeared to be startled. He only managed to let out a short gasp before seemingly instinctively raising his armored left arm to defend himself, while simultaneously taking a hasty step back to try and create distance.

A piercing metallic tearing sound rang out as the Corrosive Abyss Wolf's sharp claws slammed into Lin Yi's left arm and left chest armor, instantly tearing several hideous claw marks into the sturdy titanium alloy armor.

The immense impact caused Lin Yi to grunt, staggering back several steps and nearly falling.

If it weren't for the armor, that claw would have been enough to rip him open.

"Ah! Go to hell!"

A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Lin Yi's eyes after being "provoked".

Using the momentum of his retreat, he barely managed to steady himself, gripping the long staff tightly with both hands. Without using any skill, relying entirely on the brute force of his waist and stance, he delivered a powerful sweeping blow from below to the relatively soft side of the wolf's abdomen, which had just missed its target and was about to pounce again.

It first crashed heavily against the wall, then slid down softly, clearly dying.

It smashed through the fangs, pierced the palate, and penetrated the brain.

The second Corrosive Abyss Wolf's attack froze in mid-air, its blood-red eyes wide open.

Thick blood mixed with fragments of bone gushed from its mouth, and its massive body, as if frozen in place, crashed to the ground, falling at Lin Yi's feet.

Then, a strange phenomenon occurred.

The two corpses of the Corrosive Abyss Wolves lying on the ground suddenly collapsed, disintegrated, and turned into countless fine, dust-like dark gray powders at a speed visible to the naked eye, just like paper figures thrown into an invisible flame.

In this silent dance of ashes, at the center of the dissipation of the two corpses of the Corrupted Abyss Wolves, a faint glimmer of light silently emerged.

It wasn't a dazzling light, but rather a hazy, grayish light, like the condensed embers of death!
It hovered in mid-air, tens of centimeters above the ground, about the size of a fingertip, like the core of some kind of highly concentrated alien crystal, slowly and irregularly pulsating with a faint light. Each flicker seemed to silently announce the condensation of energy and the change of rules.

Then it lowered its body and slowly retreated.

As it retreated to the corner of the stairs, it gave Lin Yi, who was panting heavily, one last venomous look before abruptly turning and disappearing into the darkness.
