Chapter 36 Stop talking, stop talking

How furious were the victim's family members?
Just look at the huge crowds banging on the church door and you'll know.

If the state police hadn't arrived in time, all the pastors in the church would probably have been torn to pieces by the enraged mob.

—The entire Chicago police force was mobilized to arrest Reverend Edward.

Even so, he almost couldn't get out of the crowd.

The thought that their deceased loved ones' bodies had been defiled by a beastly priest, that their souls had been tainted and would never be able to go to heaven, made the family members' eyes bloodshot.

When a terrified and pale-faced Reverend Edward was handcuffed and led out of the church by the police, the enraged family members swarmed him again, throwing bricks and stones at him, and then a clash broke out with the police, resulting in the arrest of more than 20 people.

The mayor of Chicago stepped forward immediately, declaring that such horrific crimes would not be tolerated and that no evil criminal would be let off the hook, thus preventing a larger-scale riot.

Not only were Chicagoans stunned, but everyone across the United States who heard about it was blown away.

That's disgusting, that's disgusting!

What's most disgusting is that the person who committed such a heinous crime was a pastor who usually spouted righteousness and morality, who could give everything for God, and was so devout that he seemed to have a holy aura on his face.

This left even the most devout believers speechless and dumbfounded.

Even if it's something intimate with a little boy, you can always find a way to save face and say it was a misunderstanding.

But with a corpse?
I'm sorry, but this hobby is so niche that it doesn't resonate with anyone in the church.

The media was in an uproar!

What an outrageous scandal!
If you take into account the lawsuit the pastor is currently fighting with Logan, what an incredible twist of fate this is.
This is a gold mine!

After the media frenzy surrounding events like the underwear march and Logan's lawsuit, almost all newspaper owners and editors realized that the public would only pay attention to and get excited about one thing at a time.

When such an event occurs, the newspaper will use all means to provide comprehensive coverage—employing top reporters, publishing front-page headlines, and opening up more pages—and the newspaper's sales will increase several times or even dozens of times compared to usual.

Originally, many newspaper reporters had gathered in Chicago to cover the second legal battle between the pastor and Logan; now, even more reporters have arrived from all directions in a single day.

Soon, the nation's attention was focused on Chicago.

Wherever people go, they can see or hear the frenzied reporting on this matter.

Newspaper headlines, magazine pages, radio broadcasts, the pronouncements of orators and politicians, and even theater stills—reports about this event were everywhere.

Unless you close your eyes and plug your ears, you cannot escape the mental pollution of the "Church Corpse Gate"!

Yes, The Sun's photos were widely reprinted. This kind of heinous act, which challenges the limits of cognition no matter where it is placed, made people feel, for the first time, that they were not clean themselves while watching the drama unfold.

And the Sun newspaper, that devil, will continue to perpetuate this kind of spiritual pollution!

After breaking the bombshell, The Sun continued to stay ahead of other newspapers, digging deeper into the details and making unfounded connections.

For example, "Reverend Edward was very thin, pale, and had thin lips that were always tightly pursed. His fingers were long and sharp, like claws, making him look like a corpse dug up from the ground—was it possible that he really had dug up quite a few corpses..."

It's enough!
Chicagoans painfully peeked through their fingers at the Sun's follow-up report, covering their eyes in distress.

How can there be such disgusting people in the world?

The fact that they did that to a recently deceased corpse has already shattered their worldview. They even dug up the corpse from the ground and did that to it while it was rotting and stinking.

"vomit!"

The mere thought of it was enough to make people quickly cover their mouths.

To everyone's surprise, after the initial interrogation, Edward confessed to his actions, stating that he absolutely did not dig up the body, but—

This "but" made everyone in Chicago anxious.

However, he often volunteered to go to morgues or funeral homes to "pray" for the corpses!
—It is said that he was quite philanthropic, not discriminating between men and women, as long as he found them pleasing to the eye.

"God!!!"

Chicago is filled with cries of despair. Well, now the range of victims has expanded even further!

Now, the elderly people in Chicago who are barely clinging to life are too afraid to even die.

This perfectly illustrates what it means to be "not afraid of death, but afraid of being run over after death."

At this moment, Logan made his move, going full throttle and spraying at full power!

Logan's public image is now not just good, not just good, but excellent.

A very simple and straightforward deduction: if we know that Reverend Edward is a heartless and insane demon, then Logan, who is targeted by him, must be a good person.

Logan was originally just a "knight of justice" in the hearts of women, but now he is almost becoming a "knight of justice" in the hearts of the entire nation.

Even if he were to claim now that he is a birdman, no, an angel descended from heaven, many people would still believe him.

Of course, Logan wasn't interested in being a birdman; he just liked to be unforgiving and spew insults.

He first reiterated the "house of cockroaches" theory: "When the perverted evil deeds of one pastor in a Chicago church are exposed, how many pastors' evil deeds throughout America are still unknown?"

This statement sent chills down the spines of Americans, making them hesitant to think about it.

In addition, there is—

Shouldn't America reflect on itself?

How can we build a civilized world while living among these insects? We look forward to the early arrival of civilization.

Pastors and priests, do not ask how devout the citizens are to God, but how devout you are; do not ask what the citizens can do for God, but what less you can do for God.

Finally, imitating the wildly imaginative tone of the Melancholy sect is absolutely devastating to religious people!

With some nosy reporters digging deeper, they actually uncovered a few interesting stories about the priest and the little boy.

Normally, this would be national news, but under Pastor Edward's "glorious light," it seems rather decent.

But this is enough to prove Logan's worth.

It must be acknowledged that in this era, the church still held a considerable social standing.

On the one hand, the church's status is maintained by the force of people's inertia; on the other hand, the scale of church gatherings is getting larger and larger, and the number of church clergy is also increasing day by day.

This demonstrates that the church's position in the lives of Americans remains unshakable.

But in this wave, certain spiritual aspects have disappeared from the church.

Especially among the younger generation, when the church tells them that it can help them meet with God, their first thought is, "Will it help like Pastor Edward in Chicago? Then I'd rather not meet God."

American churches are facing a major crisis of faith!
This made the church members wish they could just strangle Edward right away!

But there's no other way; the best solution now is to shut Logan up.

Logan was delighted when a segment of the church that differed from the fundamentalists sent a message to The Sun requesting "more restraint in speech."

This is something we need to talk about properly.

What? You're saying you're not going to go to court?
The lawsuit is no longer a concern. The plaintiff has already been imprisoned in jail, so what's the point of fighting a mere bird lawsuit?

Here's what I'm going to do: I'm planning to make Fifty Shades of Grey into a movie. Can you pretend you didn't see this?
What, is it difficult?

Then I'll have to dig deeper into Reverend Edward's "glorious deeds," such as how skillfully he cleaned up the body afterward...

(The church member makes a pained face and gives a French military salute) Stop talking! Stop talking!
