Winter Lord: Starting with Daily Intelligence

Chapter 100 Taming Wolves and the Castle

Chapter 100 Taming Wolves and the Castle

Lord Louis, the great lord whom everyone is grateful to, is currently teasing a wolf.

Leng Feng lay prone on the grass, his ears twitching slightly, his eyes focused, awaiting Louis's instructions at any moment.

"ambush."

Leng Feng silently slipped into the bushes, his figure like a silver-gray shadow, and circled around to the side and rear.

"Raid!"

He suddenly lunged forward, biting the hanging cloth target and swinging it violently a few times.

"retreat!"

It quickly released its grip, nimbly turned around, and rushed back to Louis's side, its movements clean and efficient, without a single unnecessary movement.

After several months of training, Leng Feng has become proficient in understanding almost all of Louis's instructions.

Whether it was infiltration, raid, or protection, everything was executed flawlessly.

Sometimes, it doesn't even need to say a word; just a glance is enough for it to understand its owner's intentions.

Of course, for the past two months, it wasn't Luis who trained Leng Feng, but Iger.

However, the direwolf is inherently driven by a strong sense of hierarchy.

Aiger was responsible for training, feeding, and instructing Leng Feng, but Leng Feng never truly obeyed him.

As soon as Louis returned, it immediately wagged its tail and went to greet him, following him around like a shadow.

Because it clearly knows who the real boss is.

“Good dog.” Louis crouched down and stroked its forehead.

Leng Feng let out a low whimper, nuzzling Louis's hand with his head as if seeking praise, then tilted his head back and pressed his big head firmly against Louis's leg, as if he were being affectionate.

"It starts again."

Louis smiled wryly, half of his body pinned down by the dog: "You're the wolf king, not a dog... Hey, stop licking!"

Leng Feng's tail wagged like a windmill, and he grinned with his tongue lolling out, looking exactly like a husky.

Of course, he only acted this way in front of Louis; in front of the other wolf cubs, he was a completely different leader.

"Tsk...you've completely started treating me like your master."

Louis gently ran his fingers through the hair on Leng Feng's neck, feeling its smooth yet wild texture.

"It would be even better if he were a little taller and stronger."

Leng Feng is about six months old now, having just emerged from the cub stage. His limbs are starting to lengthen, and his muscles are gradually becoming firmer.

However, it will take more than a year for him to become a full adult.

"In other words, my dream of becoming a wolf rider will have to wait a while longer..."

Louis's gaze drifted into the distance, as if he could already see himself riding a wolf, a lone rider amidst a thousand troops, a truly heroic figure.

Just then, light footsteps came from behind.

It was Sif, who was carrying a stack of reports. As she approached, she spoke softly, "The intelligence from various places has arrived. Would you like me to read it to you?"

Louise nodded, signaling her to begin, while continuing to tease Leng Feng on the other side.

Sif unfolded the parchment and began to read it aloud, piece by piece:
"Xueyuanling has successfully tamed a herd of snow goats, which are suitable for captive breeding and produce more milk in winter."

"The grain depot and tent settlement in Hanshanling have been completed, and more than 700 people have registered to settle there."

"In Ice Ridge, the knights have successfully rescued hundreds of trapped civilians from the mountain pass, and they have all been settled in."

"As for Canglu Territory, the third bandit suppression campaign has ended, and three bandit leaders have been beheaded and their heads displayed to the public. The remaining bandits fled at the first sign of trouble."

"..."

Louis listened and nodded slightly. "Not bad, the initial results of the plan are already showing." His gaze was calm, his tone slightly detached, "I wonder how many people we can save..."

The food is being consumed too quickly, but the first batch of purchased grain should arrive soon, enough to last a few more days.

He gave a wry smile: "Is this the price of becoming the sun?"

Sif didn't really understand why Louis always liked to compare himself to "the sun".

It probably has some special meaning, like "to illuminate others" or something similar.

Sif then went on to report on some of the daily affairs of the territory.

Most of these problems are minor.

Louis listened half-heartedly until Sif said something he had been looking forward to for a long time.

“Oh, right, there’s one more thing,” Sif flipped through the report in her hand, “Mike said that the castle in Red Tide Territory is almost finished and he wants you to go and take a look.”

"Oh?" Louis's eyes lit up, and he sat up straight.

Of course he remembers it.

He personally designed the blueprints, imitating the shape of the Tulou, as well as the geothermal heating scheme that combined the hot spring system; all of these were planned by him.

"Didn't they say there was some problem with the hot spring clay?" Louis asked.
“Yes, there was a slight delay,” Sif nodded. “But the introduction of a new team of craftsmen greatly accelerated the progress. The main structure is now complete, with only some decoration and defensive works still under construction.”

"It's almost finished! I thought it would be next year," Louis exclaimed.

He often passes by that construction site, but he can only see the outer walls being built; he hasn't yet learned about the progress inside.

Louis smiled and said, "Let's go take a look at it at noon today."

The sun was shining brightly after lunch.

Louis put on his cloak, and with Sif and a few guard knights, strolled over.

As Louis walked along the newly paved dirt road, he spotted it immediately.

With its rugged outline and thick rammed earth walls, the building seems to grow out of the earth, exuding an indescribable sense of oppression.

At the bottom is a wall base completely covered with dark gray stone bricks, which fits tightly against the ground.

The stone bricks extend all the way to the waist, naturally connecting with the stone walls of the arrow tower, with simple yet not rigid lines.

Above that is a wooden eave, with red tide sun totem and wave patterns carved on the wooden beams, rough yet exquisite.

The entire castle is like an armored beast, calm, cold, and practical, yet it hides a touch of stubborn craftsmanship.

This directly hit Louis's straight male aesthetic.

This is not the luxurious beauty of southern nobility, but the rugged, practical beauty of the North.

Although it looks nothing like the castle of Frostspear, its atmosphere is quite similar.

Louis stared at it for a long time and couldn't help but exclaim, "Old Mike actually managed to build a castle in this style... That guy really has some skills. Of course, the main credit goes to me."

Although he also remembered that what he had drawn on the sketch was just a bare, large pillar.

"I came up with the design concept," he added quietly, without a trace of shame.

Sif tilted her head as she looked at the newly completed earthen building.

It wasn't quite what she had imagined.

She had imagined a castle to be gleaming with gleaming stone bricks and ornate carvings, but the one in front of her looked plain and rough.

Just then, the door creaked open slowly.

Mike strode out, covered in dust.

"My lord! You've arrived?" He looked smug. "I've accomplished my mission and finished the job on time."
