Chapter 14 Fate Thinner Than Paper: Tongue-Cutting Slave
"Second uncle."
Fang Shu snapped out of his daze and spoke.
It turned out that the other party had already discovered him.
Yu Lao Er nodded, patted him on the shoulder, and then pointed to the bowl of milk, indicating that he should eat it.
Fang Shu was still hesitating when he suddenly heard a slightly mature, teasing voice coming from inside the milk shop:
"Hey, young man. Are you worried that our breast milk isn't fresh?"
He looked up and saw the young woman in her thirties, a beauty from the milk shop, smiling seductively at him and his nephew.
"Don't worry, they're all freshly squeezed." The milk shop vendor, seemingly acquainted with her second uncle, teased him, her red lips curving slightly at Fang Shu as she asked:
"Your nephew?"
Second Uncle nodded, a reserved smile on his face.
"No wonder you're being so generous today, bringing money to do business with me." The milk shop vendor rolled her eyes, annoyed.
"So it turns out you're here out of a deep bond between uncle and nephew, specially to help your nephew recover and make a good impression. I thought you'd finally had a change of heart."
Clearly, the milk shop beauty noticed that among the four people who came ashore, only Fang Shu had no money to buy milk.
Second Uncle didn't reply, just smiled, then pulled Fang Shu and squatted down next to the milk shop, urging him to eat quickly.
Fang Shu said softly, "I haven't sold my blood yet, so I don't need to eat."
The second uncle showed no surprise and still urged him to eat quickly.
Fang Shu had no choice but to ask the milk shop beauty for another bowl and divide the milk into two portions.
The second uncle couldn't persuade him either, so the two of them squatted on the side of the street, each sharing half, and happily began to eat.
As soon as the milk entered his stomach, Fang Shu's eyes changed slightly, and he immediately noticed something different.
He ate half a bowl slowly and deliberately, and found that although the milk was cold, his body warmed up, but it wasn't the kind of burning heat.
In addition, something cool slowly melted inside his body, invigorating him.
Fang Shu seemed to have noticed something.
He secretly summoned the Daoist talisman and immediately discovered that the lifespan limit in the [Lifespan] column had increased by three years, indicating that his physical body had been nourished.
"You get what you pay for. This dairy product, which costs fifty green cicadas a serving, is indeed of good quality."
He secretly wondered if the slight coolness in his body was the legendary spiritual energy.
The change in his second uncle's expression was even more pronounced than his. After eating half a bowl, his pale complexion suddenly became more rosy.
After they finished eating, the two good-for-nothings licked the milk bowl clean.
Finally, the second uncle shamelessly managed to get two bowls of leftover liquid from making dairy products from the milk shop beauty.
Half a bowl of milk and a bowl of swill were consumed.
Fang Shu immediately understood why Old Master Lü and the others were so tipsy while eating.
When the uncle and nephew finished eating and were returning the bowls, the milk shop beauty suddenly said:
"By the way, that bastard Cheng Guanzi is pressing for rent payment."
If you have spare money, don't come here to spend it, and definitely don't try to draw those fortune slips, lest you fall behind on rent and Cheng Guanzi burns your house down.
Upon hearing this, the second uncle visibly frowned, but then smiled and bowed to the other party before swaying away, leading Fang Shu away.
Besides feeding Fang Shu milk, his second uncle also took him to the market to buy a bunch of supplies, including two sets of clothes.
After we finished shopping, the sky was already dark, but the market was still bustling, even more so than during the day, and had turned into a night market.
The lanterns in the night market were all bright red, resembling blood everywhere, which was rather strange.
As night was about to fall, the two of them ate a quick meal and then left the market to return home.
Along the way, Fang Shu had already mentally prepared himself for simple accommodations, and he wouldn't be surprised if the two of them hid under a bridge.
When the house appeared in front of him, he was still stunned.
All I could see were rows of thin-skinned houses lined up along the ditch.
The largest house was no more than ten feet tall and only four or five feet high. The lintel was low, and one had to stoop and bend over to squeeze in.
They were all neat and uniform, stark white, resembling paper houses burned in a cemetery, only slightly larger...
It's not just a "seem," it's exactly what it is!
A snapping sound.
My second uncle opened a house, went inside, and immediately invited Fang Shu in.
The door to the house was made of paper, as was the bed, the low table and chairs, and the window frames, walls, and so on.
The only good thing is that it's located semi-underground, and once inside, the ceiling height is decent, so you don't have to worry about it being blown away by a gust of wind.
A conversation quickly took place between the uncle and nephew. Fang Shu asked tactfully, but with a hint of doubt:
"Second Uncle, didn't you say you were living a very fulfilling life in Guling Town?"
Upon hearing this, the second uncle grabbed a pipe with a snap.
He lay diagonally on the single paper bed, sucking away with relish, looking just like a paralyzed, sick man confined to his bed.
Fang Shu frowned and asked again:
"And you still say you're living the high life here..."
Before he could finish speaking, his second uncle took a deep drag on his pipe and blew smoke at Fang Shuxu.
"Cough!" Fang Shu quickly dodged, but still noticed a strange, spicy aroma that went straight into his mouth and nose, causing him to cough.
What was burning inside the pipe didn't seem to be tobacco, but rather incense and chili powder!
Seeing Fang Shu cough, his second uncle looked flustered and apologetic, and quickly reached into the pipe to extinguish the tobacco.
Fang Shu recovered, his brows furrowed into a tight knot.
With a last glimmer of hope, or perhaps more accurately, a sense of bewilderment, he uttered:
"Didn't you also say that you became an apprentice at a martial arts academy in the market and were preparing to join a sect?"
At this moment, my second uncle straightened up.
The man meticulously rubbed the pipe in his hand, and with the charred tip, he wrote a large character "曾" on the yellowed paper wall.
Seemingly worried that Fang Shu wouldn't understand, the second uncle added the word "经" (jing), and as he typed the words "曾经" (jingceng), a sigh appeared on his face.
All of a sudden.
Fang Shu finally understood.
His second uncle has... suffered a disaster and fallen into misfortune!
While feeling worried for his second uncle, Fang Shu looked at the thin paper house and could still hear the clear shouts and sounds of rent collection outside.
He was also filled with disappointment for a moment.
This kind of flavorful and luxurious life was really different from what he had imagined.
However, Fang Shu felt a little relieved, because his second uncle, at least, did not seem to be the bad person that outsiders described. He was just someone who had lost his spirit and was just getting by.
A thought struck him, and he tentatively took out the original copy of the Secret Sword Techniques of the Mouth and Abdomen that he kept close to his body, and began to ask his second uncle for guidance.
To his delight, his second uncle only gave him a few words of guidance, which helped him gain a deeper understanding of magic.
Clearly, my second uncle had also mastered this magic and had been immersed in it for quite some time.
This only made Fang Shu more puzzled. Although the Secret Sword Technique of Mouth and Abdomen was inferior, it was still a complete first-stage entry-level spell.
According to the spell, the long tongue sword he cultivated, after being slightly nurtured and having its essence and blood requirements met, could become a first-level magic weapon!
With such magical abilities, how could my second uncle have fallen so low as to sell his blood to survive as a "blood demon"?
At this moment, Fang Shu wiped his lips, took out his long tongue sword, and planned to ask his second uncle to help him evaluate it.
As soon as his second uncle saw this object, his expression changed drastically, and he looked surprised and uncertain.
Upon closer inspection, Fang Shu realized that his second uncle did not seem to be shocked or relieved that Fang Shu had successfully forged the sword and had even nurtured it, but rather appeared furious and enraged!
boom!
My second uncle slammed his fist on the table. He rummaged through the cramped paper house, then grabbed something and rushed out of the house.
After rushing out, the second uncle suddenly turned back, smiled at Fang Shu, who looked astonished, and told him to relax.
The commotion left Fang Shu completely stunned.
In no time at all.
He then heard pushing and shoving, as well as shouting, coming from the ditch outside the paper house:
"You bastard Yu Lao Er, I haven't even asked you for rent, and you still dare to cause trouble for me, Cheng Guanzi!"
Fang Shu suddenly stood up, sword in hand, intending to go out, only to find that the door to the paper house was locked from the inside.
Although this paper door is thin and doesn't insulate against sound, it's surprisingly resilient.
He vaguely sensed something, stood inside the door with his sword in hand, his expression shifting between light and dark as he tried to control himself.
Just then, a burst of laughter, shouts, and curses erupted outside, accompanied by hurried footsteps and what sounded like applause.
clap clap!
"Pah!" the man who called himself Cheng Guanzi laughed and cursed.
"You tongue-cutting slave, you can't even speak properly, how dare you frame me, hahaha!"
The curses boomed into Fang Shu's ears, causing his pupils to shrink sharply.
He realized something, and stared at the long-tongued sword in his hand with disbelief and astonishment...
