Chapter 246 Rescuing Refugee Residents
Chapter 246 Rescuing Refugee Residents
Inside the tent, Hilti, who had been sleeping peacefully, opened her eyes and sat up with her legs crossed.
Although it was quite a distance away, the sound was far too obvious in the quiet night, and Hiltiya's keen senses made it impossible for her not to hear it.
After sitting up, Hilti put on clothes that allowed her to move around easily, draped a dark gray hooded robe over her shoulders, thought for a moment, and then took out the veil that 'Bad Apple' had given her and put it on.
【Light Mist Veil】(Tier 2 - Mist Shadow): A very thin veil that won't obstruct breathing, but can conceal the face, making the appearance and temperament hazy, while also possessing a certain ability to conceal one's aura. (Concealment +3, Aura Concealment +2)
Stepping out of the tent, the weatherhorse that had been sleeping outside stood up; it too had heard the sound from afar.
Hiltiya walked over, patted its head, and then gently patted its neck.
"You stay here and don't run around." Ordinary wild animals couldn't threaten this horse, so Hilti was relatively at ease.
Upon hearing this, the Messenger horse stomped its front hooves and snorted, indicating that it understood.
Then, Hilti opened her fingers slightly, and a long, gleaming golden sword appeared in her palm, which she then grasped.
The storage function of the 'Courtyard' is really useful. Even if it's stored in a box, she can take it out at any time. This convenience is also the reason why Hiltiya firmly chose the 'Courtyard' as her core secret technique.
Grasping the long, gleaming gold blade, Hilti stepped into the night. Her steps were not fast, but silent, quickly blending into the dark darkness.
As she walked, Hilti switched her abilities, and the effects of the 'Moonlight Breathing Technique' filled her body, making her body lighter and faster under the moonlight, and getting closer and closer to the place where the fire and sound were coming from.
"Stop, or we'll shoot arrows!" the pursuing soldiers roared, then drew their crossbows and aimed them at the fleeing men.
Upon hearing this, only a few people hesitated for a moment, while the rest continued to run frantically through the woods.
"Damn it." The captain cursed, then pulled the trigger, firing an arrow that struck a fleeing figure directly.
Several soldiers then began firing, shouting repeatedly, "Kneel down, lie on the ground, and you'll be spared! Otherwise, you'll be shot dead."
Under such shouts, some of the slower runners were terrified. A few could not withstand the pressure of death and lay motionless on the ground in fear, only to be tied up by the soldiers who caught up with them.
The chase continued, and then the person running in the lead saw a strange figure emerge from the woods.
"Run, run! Don't block the way! They'll kill us!" he shouted urgently.
However, the figure merely nodded slightly to him and continued walking forward.
Seeing that the other party was ignoring him, the fleeing man didn't care anymore and continued to rush into the dark woods.
Soon, Hiltiah saw the pursuing soldiers, and a black hunting dog rushed in front of her and pounced on her.
With a swift slash of the blade, the black, drooling hound was cleaved in two and landed in the nearby grass.
Seeing this, the remaining hunting dogs barked fiercely around her, but dared not approach.
Upon hearing the barking of the hounds, some soldiers carrying torches walked over and soon spotted the gray-robed figure surrounded by the hounds.
"Who are you? Get down!" They thought he was just a passerby in the middle of the night.
“Perfect timing, the mine is short-handed anyway, we'll settle the score by catching you.” One of the soldiers picked up a rope, shook it in his hand, and threw it out, intending to tie up the stranger directly.
Hilti easily dodged the attack, then swung her blade, snapping the rope in mid-air.
"You dare to resist!" Seeing her resistance, the soldiers were displeased, and two of them raised their crossbows and fired directly.
A flash of light, and the two crossbow bolts were cleaved in two, rendered useless.
Upon seeing this, the soldiers began to panic.
"We are the garrison of the Kingdom of Antiy. We advise you not to interfere with our mission and get lost, or you'll be in for a world of trouble when our captain and the main force arrive." They were trying to scare the stranger away. Hiltiya shook her head slightly, somewhat curious about the Antiy soldiers' ability to lie so blatantly. There were clearly only a dozen or so soldiers chasing them in the mountains; where was this large force?
"Why don't you leave, and I'll let you go?"
Hilti finally spoke, her clear, girlish voice carrying a hint of gentleness, as if she were not speaking of threats, but rather offering careful advice.
"How ridiculous! Do you know who we are? So what if you are a superhuman? If you dare to obstruct us, you are going against the Kingdom of Antiy!" Although it was somewhat arrogant, the superhumans in Regas did not dare to provoke these Antiy soldiers.
“I know you are the garrison of the Kingdom of Antiy, and perhaps even Somelin’s men.” Hiltiya walked forward slowly, and in the time she had delayed, the people who had been pursued had gone further and further away.
"That's why I advised you to leave." Her figure slowly stepped out of the darkness and into the firelight. Only then could the soldiers see a few strands of silver hair under the hood and the outline of her figure.
"A woman? And so young." Several soldiers commented on the girl in front of them.
While the two sides were locked in a standoff, the captain in charge of the pursuit from the other side led his men over.
"What are you doing? Why don't you keep chasing them!" He first scolded them, then turned to look at the unfamiliar figure illuminated by the firelight.
"I don't care who you are. Since you dare to obstruct the actions of our Antichrist army, you must be a rat of Regas. Seize her!"
This captain was a 'Second-Tier Blood Law' warrior, full of vitality. After issuing the order, he drew his longsword from his waist and rushed towards the girl with great speed.
To make such a bold statement, he must have some skill and confidence. He had clearly received rigorous training, and his military swordsmanship was superb. During the charge, his breathing technique was rapidly activated, and with the addition of some kind of explosive ability and skill, he passed through the torches held by the soldiers in front of him like a whirlwind, leaving only a blur.
Her footwork, swordsmanship, and abilities were all quite good. Siltia watched her opponent's movements as if she were watching a movie slowed down five times, observing them closely.
On the path she was sure to take, she deftly flipped the long, narrow blade in her hand, slicing through the longsword in his hand along his trajectory, and drawing a line of blood from his neck.
Then the captain crashed into a tree with a thud and fell to the ground, unable to get up.
This battle wasn't even a warm-up, and Hilti was slightly disappointed.
Seeing their powerful captain instantly killed, the remaining soldiers panicked. They looked at each other, seemingly having made up their minds, and then all turned and ran away.
Hiltiya did not pursue them, but stopped and looked at the dying Antigai army captain beside her.
After thinking for a few seconds, Hilti decided to save the other party and ask some questions.
The group that had been running away saw the pursuers retreat and only after a while did they quietly peek out from their hiding places, looking at the figure standing in the clearing in the woods with fear and anticipation.
"Hello, thank you for saving us."
They expressed their gratitude, but deep down they were still a little scared, since most of the superhumans had strange personalities and their likes and dislikes were unknown.
"You guys come out now, everything should be alright."
Seeing that Hilti's tone was gentle, everyone present finally relaxed and slowly gathered together.
"Can you tell me what's happening in Jiaoshi City right now?" Xilutiya took off her hood, revealing her beautiful silver hair, and then removed her veil, which amazed many people with her dreamlike beauty that was rarely seen in the world.
“My name is Tiya. I used to live in Jiaoshi City for a long time. Some of you may recognize me,” she said, recounting events from several years ago.
“I remember now, you were a student of Hyde, weren’t you?” one of the refugees finally remembered a name.
"So she's from Jiaoshicheng too? That's great."
Everyone was finally relieved, some even weeping with joy, and gathered around Hilti to recount the series of changes that had taken place in Scorched Stone City over the past few years.
