Chapter 58 'Fairness'!
“Hmm!” Lu Cheng replied with a smile.

Lu Cheng himself considered himself to be a person with some 'opportunity' and 'favored by God,' who had given him some talent, allowing him to settle down in a corner of the world.

While we can't be considered extremely wealthy, we are comfortably well-off.

Moreover, the appearance of the panel is a compensation from God. If one still hopes that everyone one meets will treat them like the 'protagonist' and revolve around them, then that would be greedy.

Lu Cheng saw Chen Song looking at him with a slightly complicated expression, and after speaking frankly, he tried to comfort him: "Teacher Chen, the techniques that Professor Tong taught me are meant for me."

"Yes, that's a very high level of awareness!" Chen Song gave Lu Cheng a thumbs up.

Chen Song told Lu Cheng about Tong Yuan'an's matter partly to test Lu Cheng's mindset.

If Lu Cheng were a short-sighted person who could only see Tong Yuan'an's teaching during his few months in the countryside, then he would be considered narrow-minded.

What Chen Song didn't expect was that after Lu Cheng slurped up a mouthful of soup, he secretly raised his eyebrows and whispered in Chen Song's ear: "Moreover, Teacher Chen, if I'm not mistaken, I am slightly better than Teacher Tong in terms of the materials and techniques used to suture pig's trotters and tendons."

"I also have authorization to perform tendon repair surgery."

Chen Song was taken aback, a strange look of admiration appearing in his eyes...

Respecting teachers does not mean unconditionally groveling before them, nor does filial piety mean absolutely abandoning everything to only accompany one's parents.

After finishing their noodles, both of them felt quite full. Lu Cheng paid the bill and then drove Chen Song to the county hospital.

And at 7:58 a.m., I arrived at the department.

I was only two minutes late, so I was on time.

The moment Professor Chen Song and Lu Cheng arrived at the department, Han Xiaoping, the doctor on duty, rushed out, holding a square-headed hat and putting his phone into his white coat pocket: "Professor Chen, Lu, you're here!"

"A patient with splenic hematoma just arrived and is still undergoing preoperative examinations. Director Lin said that Professor Chen would be coming, so Professor Chen, you and Brother Lu will handle it." Han Xiaoping's tone was respectful and polite.

"Okay." Chen Song agreed without any hesitation.

Han Xiaoping then glanced at Lu Cheng: "Brother Lu, Director Peng from the orthopedics department called this morning, saying that we have encountered a patient with a ruptured tendon in our clinic and that we need to prioritize the orthopedics department for consultation."

"Director Lin is currently in the department; he has simply handed over this matter."

Lu Cheng asked, "Brother Han, have you finished getting the interview and signatures for the emergency patients?"

"The patient went for a quick preoperative check-up, and the family has gone to the doctor's office; they must be having a conversation." Han Xiaoping knew that Lu Cheng might be in a bad mood, so she didn't continue the previous topic.

Chen Song said with his hands behind his back, "I'm going to get myself a little treat first. Once the pre-operative preparations are complete, Xiao Lu, call me."

Chen Song couldn't be bothered with the 'argument' between the emergency department and the orthopedics department! So he made a quick getaway, out of sight, out of mind.

Lu Cheng and Chen Song went in opposite directions and quickly arrived at the door of the director's office. Lu Cheng, without wearing his work uniform, gently knocked on the door.

"Come in." Lin Qianlong's voice came back. A few seconds later, Lin Qianlong waved to Lu Cheng: "Xiao Lu, you've come at the right time. I just called Director Peng."

Lin Qianlong spoke first, and Lu Cheng suppressed his thoughts and asked, "Director Lin, what does Director Peng mean?"

"Director Peng's point is that we perform tendon sutures on odd-numbered days, while they perform them on even-numbered days. If it's an orthopedic surgery day, patients with ruptured tendons should still be handled by our emergency department."

"I think this idea is good, and Director Peng of the orthopedics department is a smart man."

"Professor Tong may be sent to the countryside, but he'll have to go back someday," Lin Qianlong hinted.

Lu Cheng knew Peng Haibo quite well, so he wasn't surprised that Peng Haibo would make such a far-sighted "suggestion." It would take into account Professor Tong Yuan'an's on-call and rest time, and at the same time, it would be good for Lu Cheng to move some surgeries to the emergency department, in order to gradually erode its strength.

Clearly, Peng Kun couldn't possibly handle all the tendon rupture patients at once. After Tong Yuan'an left, if Peng Kun wanted to continue learning deep tendon suture techniques, he would likely have to seek help from Lu Cheng. Being beholden to someone is a lowly position, and Peng Haibo wouldn't treat Lu Cheng like a fool. He'd push you to the brink when he disdained you, but speak politely when he needed your help.

"Since Director Lin and Director Peng have already made a decision, I will follow your arrangements." Lu Cheng then concealed his true thoughts.

If things were really going according to the county hospital's operating rules, Lu Cheng would like to take a look at the medical affairs department.

If Lu Cheng hadn't mastered the Tajima suture method to a certain level and hadn't gone to Professor Tong Yuan'an for a trial training, he certainly wouldn't have dared to be so arrogant!
Knowing that his treatment of a single tendon rupture was no less advanced than Professor Tong Yuan'an's, Lu Cheng wasn't particularly 'modest'. He explained everything clearly and said he would take full responsibility!
Lu Cheng is a senior attending physician, not a junior resident, a nobody who hasn't even obtained level two surgical authority...

Around 8:30, Chen Song took Lu Cheng out of the operating room for a spleen-preserving surgery.

The disinfection was completed at 8:45.

At 9:00 AM sharp, Chen Song finished the partial operation and handed it over to Lu Cheng.

Around 9:30, Chen Song stood on the stage, dumbfounded. After a moment of deep thought, he said in a low voice, "Xiao Lu, did you learn a trick from Tong Yuan'an called 'focusing on fairness'?"

"You made him emo, so you have to give me a heart attack for a while?" Chen Song's tone was restrained.

"Teacher Chen?" Lu Cheng looked up, his face full of doubt.

"Your skill level? That's way too..."

"If you act like this, you'll not only easily lose friends, but you'll also easily lose teachers."

In just over ten days, Lu Cheng not only learned new tendon suturing techniques, but also achieved such proficiency in spleen preservation techniques. Chen Song, as his teacher, felt a little guilty about the speed of his progress.

I reckon Lu Cheng will be able to graduate before I finish my rural assignment.

"Teacher Chen, it's really because you taught me so well." Lu Cheng's voice was sincere.

Lu Cheng never added any points to the spleen-preserving technique; he improved it entirely through Chen Song's guidance and regular practice.

Chen Song was quite pleased with Lu Cheng's flattery and nodded slightly: "Your basic skills are good enough, and you have good talent, which is why you are where you are today."

"Let's not talk about that. What kind of fight is going on between your department and the orthopedics department?"

"The general idea is that there are seven of us and three of them."

"Officially, it's said that we perform surgeries on odd-numbered days and the orthopedics department on even-numbered days, but the orthopedics department also has surgery days, and Professor Tong will rest on weekends."

Chen Song was not surprised: "Truly worthy of being Tong Yuan'an, he advocates fairness."

"It seems he's also aware of what you told me this morning. Come to think of it, he's a bit more perceptive than I am."

"Xiao Lu, you've got some skills! In just over a month, you managed to kill 'Tong Yuan'an' by stitching up a ruptured tendon!" Chen Song said, his teeth chattering in shock.

Lu Cheng continued the suturing of subcutaneous tissue that Chen Song looked down on, while earnestly replying, "Teacher Chen, what you said is a case of flattery to death."

"First of all, Professor Tong's expertise is definitely not in tendon suturing, but in actual hand surgery procedures."

"Secondly, it was because Professor Tajima, after so many years of silence, combined with Professor Tsushita's ideas to develop suture techniques that were strong enough, which gave me the opportunity to overtake him."

"Tendon sutures? Even your hospital doesn't approve of that, Professor Chen, and they're unwilling to do it. What's there to say?" Lu Cheng's voice was calm and clear-headed.

Chen Song clicked his tongue a few times, quite satisfied with Lu Cheng's performance.

Chen Song also praised Lu Cheng without reservation: "Tong Yuan'an is the kind of person who won't do anything without a profit and insists on fairness. He'll suffer sooner or later, and he'll regret it one day."
