Chapter 46 A Friendship That Would Die for Each Other
Without hesitation, Chen Anquan took the gun from his waist, slammed it on the table with a crisp sound, picked up the can of Coke, took a sip, and said, "Boss, I know people in Macau. I'll handle this."

Lin Tiansheng, Zhong Zhihui, Zhang Jinrong, and Deng Gengyun all stared intently at the gun. Lin Tiansheng crossed his legs, leaned back on the sofa, and said softly, "What have you been doing in Macau these past few years?"

Chen Anquan drank his cola without answering. Zhang Jinrong said, "Between brothers, we have to be open and honest. We'll have to clear things up sooner or later. If we don't clear things up, how dare the boss transfer you to the Major Crimes Unit?"

Zhong Zhihui wholeheartedly agreed and advised, "Being a pimp or gambling doesn't matter if you win or lose, and it's okay to have women, but don't gamble away your brothers' lives."

"A pledge of loyalty: kill outsiders, and you'll kill your own brothers too!"

Chen Anquan's five fingers were stuck in the soda can, and he said with his neck stiff, "What can I do? If I win, I'll live a life of debauchery; if I lose, I'll kill someone to pay off my debts."

"Damn it, a Silver Whistle Award winner at the police academy, and you've ended up working as a hitman?" Zhang Jinrong was furious at his lack of ambition, shoved Chen Anquan, and stood up, saying, "Have you no ambition at all!"

Chen Anquan slumped on the sofa, humiliation on his face. Suddenly, he exploded, his voice hoarse: "Being an assassin is no good, but shining shoes and doing laundry is?"

"Is giving directions and reading signs a promising career path?"

"It's still more promising to guard the pond, it's wise to be wise, yes, it's wise to be wise, but can it control us!"

The sudden argument between the brothers created tension, but it was the price of breaking down the facade. How could they truly open up to each other and eliminate potential problems without doing so?
It's not feasible for five sworn brothers to keep excluding one of them.

Just then, Chen Anquan offered to go to Macau, and Lin Tiansheng certainly wouldn't miss the opportunity. At this moment, Zhang Jinrong was speechless, standing motionless. Zhihui smoked a cigarette, head bowed, saying nothing.

Yunzai doesn't understand. If someone is broke and has no other options, is there a problem with becoming a ghostwriter?

What's all the noise about?!

Lin Tiansheng waved his hand: "If anyone knows your identity, write down your name. Once he disappears, I'll transfer you to the Major Crimes Unit."

Chen Anquan said, "I never take orders myself. My agent, Afei, always helps me. He's the only one in Macau who knows my identity and would never betray me."

"What are you saying?" Zhang Jinrong frowned and said, "You're brothers with him, and you're brothers with us too? He's just an agent. If we don't get rid of him, we'll drag the big boss down with us!"

Chen Anquan retorted, "We're all brothers who've been through thick and thin together! You're trying to put me in a difficult position? When I was at my most helpless, it was Afei who helped me."

"Without powerful backers back then, would you still be alive today?"

"So, the big boss is coming out of retirement, and I'll risk my life for him, understand? You're drunk, you idiot." Chen Anquan retorted sharply. Zhihui suddenly spoke up: "That slacker from the water room, the one with the rotten straw sandals who flew away, the one who trained with you at the police academy and got expelled by the instructor for fighting?"

Lanmingfei was Chen Anquan's best friend. He used to work as a pimp in Wan Chai. In 1977, he took a group of girls to Macau to make a living and switched jobs to Shui Fong.

He had no personal relationship with Lin Tiansheng and his group, but he had heard of them.

Chen Anquan glanced at Zhihui and replied, "That's right, we've been through thick and thin together, and we promised each other we'd never betray each other."

Back in police academy, he and Lanmingfei fought together. Fei thought that having one was better than having two, so that he would have someone to look after him when he started out in the underworld, and thus he took the blame.

Indeed, for a time, the two were a perfect match, making a fortune. Unfortunately, fate took a turn for the worse, and after police reforms, that kind of good fortune never returned.

"Sigh." Lin Tiansheng sighed inwardly. Since Chicken Head wanted to protect Lanmingfei, he couldn't possibly give him a position of real power. He could only act as a black glove, and he had to strengthen the firewall. He said, "Chicken Head, I respect your loyalty and the bond between you two, but I can't transfer you to the Major Crimes Unit. Tomorrow I'll talk to Pipi Shrimp and transfer you from the Mobile Police Unit garage to the West Kowloon Organized Crime and Triad Bureau. Lanmingfei's life depends on you. If one day, any of the brothers get into trouble because of you, not a single one will be spared!"

"If you're confident about Daozai Dong, then go ahead and do it. That'll end it here."

Seeing that the boss had gotten up and was going to the bathroom to wash up, Zhong Zhihui came to Chen Anquan's side, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "It's because the brothers didn't do a good enough job, but don't blame the boss. Everyone is having a hard time."

Chen Anquan said, "I don't blame anyone. Life is a gamble; it's normal to win and lose."

"That's good."

Before leaving, Cheung Kam-wing also said, "Be careful when you go to the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau. Although you have a license and a gun, Brother Sheng can't protect you, so you might be harassed."

Chen Anquan chuckled and nodded in response.

After taking a shower, Lin Tiansheng, wearing a T-shirt, walked into the living room to find the apartment deserted. Transferring Chen Anquan to the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) was not a spur-of-the-moment decision.

He had previously thought that it would be easy to get things done if the four major sergeants were in one department, but if the team wanted to grow, it would sometimes need to extend its reach outwards.

The intelligence department has a lot of resources to offer. Inserting someone into the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) is like planting seeds in advance; it has both advantages and disadvantages.

There's no need to crowd into the Major Crimes Unit and wait in line for promotions with the lowly clerks. Within the same police station, the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) can collaborate with the Major Crimes Unit on some cases, so it's not like they can't leverage each other's resources.

It has the effect of a firewall, and is also placed nearby.

The following morning, Chen Anquan didn't return to headquarters. He made a phone call and asked his superior for a day off. Each district has a mobile unit stationed there, the largest of which is at the Central Headquarters, with a six-person vehicle management team responsible for vehicle dispatch, fuel expense reimbursement, maintenance, paint touch-ups, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Normally, after Chen Anquan finished taking orders, he would ask his boss for leave before going to work. He frequently gave his boss gifts, making it easy for him to manage his time.

For the boss, it's nothing out of the ordinary for a seasoned gambler to cross the sea for a couple of rounds when his gambling addiction kicks in.

Upon arriving in Macau, Chen Anquan found Lan Mingfei and quickly made arrangements. Only the gambler knew what the gambler liked best.

It's not women, it's not money, it's the thrill of winning money.

He immediately ordered Lanmingfei to find two poor Singaporeans, gave each of them 100,000 dollars, and told them to pretend to be overseas Chinese, lose money in the casino, and act like big fish.

They deliberately lured people with high-interest loans in the casino to their targets, then used this opportunity to infiltrate the private gambling dens frequented by "Knife East." These were known as "outer courts," underground casinos strictly prohibited by the Macau police. It's important to know that legitimate casinos have limits on the number of tourists they can accommodate, so these "outer courts," which have no such limits, attract business, but are often frequented by seasoned gamblers and江湖人士 (gangsters/underworld figures).

Unless it goes too far, the casino owner won't bother with it.

Three days later, on Friday, Chen Quan was using a high-pressure water gun to rinse his car when his pager went off. After listening to the message on the paging service, he changed his clothes and finished work. He went to a roadside phone booth, inserted coins, and dialed Lin Tiansheng's mobile phone number, saying, "Boss, the fish has taken the bait. We'll collect it on the shore tonight."

"Be careful." Lin Tiansheng sat in the police car, leading Ma Delong and He Licheng as a paparazzi team, staking out Wu Xikun's building. Although they had set up a trap in Macau, they couldn't put all their eggs in one basket. The E team members were still carrying out their missions separately.
