Chapter 101: Harry
Chapter 101: Harry
Sheehan felt that Harry and Ron were being a little too sincere.
"Yes."
Ron's face flushed red with the thought of having more homework to copy, and he looked like he was ready to risk everything.
Harry lowered his head nervously as well.
"Ah."
Sheen nodded.
Professor Snape was still waiting for him in the cellar. Although Harry and Ron had indeed surprised him, he wasn't going to waste too much time there.
"He's completely different from what we imagined,"
After a brief moment of reaction, Ron's joy was written all over his face.
“Mr. Green is… oh, at least not Percy, and not Hermione either. I still have Green’s Notebook to read, Merlin, that’s great…”
Just as Sheen was leaving, Harry remembered Wood's words—that he should subtly inquire whether Sheen had joined the Quidditch team.
But he simply couldn't bring himself to ask; for the sake of Gryffindor's Quidditch Cup, he had to say something.
then--
"Sheen, you—"
Harry suddenly spoke, and Sheen turned his head.
Harry's mind went blank at that moment, and he knew he was definitely not going to get the answer out of him.
He had just been forgiven, and now he was going to spy on Ravenclaw Quidditch tactics? He felt he couldn't do such a thing.
But he had to say something now, so when he saw Neville and Justin in the distance, he blurted out:
"Can you teach us some spells? Like Neville."
Although it was said subconsciously, it wasn't entirely nonsense—he had been struggling with his homework for a long time.
After all, Wood wanted them to dedicate every single minute to Quidditch training, and he really didn't know how they were going to finish so much homework.
What surprised him even more was that after a brief moment of thought, Sheen actually nodded.
On the way back to the auditorium,
Harry and Ron remained silent for a long while.
The two looked at the notebooks in amazement, as if they were looking at some rare treasure.
“Harry… I was wrong, I was so wrong. Sheehan is a carbon copy of Professor Sprout. Oh—Merlin, why didn’t we find him sooner?”
Ron said, annoyed.
“From now on, I cannot hear any more bad things about Sheen…”
Harry saw that Ron had been completely won over and nodded approvingly.
……
At the end of the corridor, Sheen walked along, lost in thought.
Harry surprised him several times, and although it was somewhat unexpected, Sheen was happy to help him.
As Sheen stood in the hallway, looking at the skinny boy with tattered glasses and a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, he suddenly realized something.
Harry Potter, the boy who survived a great calamity, seems to have never chosen to be the "savior," but lost his parents as an infant due to Voldemort's curse.
He grew up in a corner of the Dursleys' house, where even a decent birthday present was a luxury.
His scars—considered badges of honor in the magical world—were seen by Sheen as the mark of an attempted murder.
Harry's destiny was never truly his own.
Trelawney's prophecy may have sealed his fate with Voldemort, but what truly made Harry a "hero" was his series of proactive choices:
In his first year, he confronted Voldemort and chose to protect the Philosopher's Stone; in the Chamber of Secrets, he risked his life to save Ginny; and at the Goblet of Fire, he insisted on bringing Cedric's body back to Hogwarts...
The measure of a person's worth is never how much glory they bring, but whether they deserve to be treated fairly. Harry Potter is not only the orphan of a martyr, but more importantly, he deserves some special treatment.
Knowing this, Sheen found it hard to accept Harry's contributions as a given, and he was happy to offer Harry help in any way he could.
He knew this was just a small amount of help, nothing compared to Harry's long and arduous Hogwarts career.
However, Sheen didn't care about that.
cellar.
Professor Snape had been waiting for a long time.
He always stayed in a dark corner, and Sheen couldn't see his face.
However, if Sheen makes any wrong move, he will not hesitate to ridicule him, and if it gets worse, like yesterday, it was like a storm.
Processing materials, igniting the crucible, controlling the heat...
Sheen's proficiency in preparing anti-swelling potions made his movements fluent and precise. After finishing this batch of potions, Sheen was about to brew another potion to reduce swelling.
Of the three potions he learned, only the swelling potion remained unmastered.
Once you master the Swelling Potion, new potion titles will be unlocked.
Sheen couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation.
Apprentice-level titles typically provide a slight boost to perception and direct talent in a particular branch of magic; upon reaching the entry level, perception is significantly enhanced.
Perception is like the ability to observe and measure. Taking potions as an example, perception can help Sheen record the state and quality of potions more accurately in order to adjust his skills and techniques.
White mist rose from the cellar once more, and a strange complexity appeared in Professor Snape's gloomy eyes.
He was certain the potion's quality had changed, but the method used by a certain Grimm felt completely unfamiliar to him.
He disdained to understand, but that didn't mean he would tolerate the young wizard in front of him recklessly expanding into the field of potions.
Does he think potions are like that stupid Quidditch game? A lousy sport whose tactics haven't been updated in decades!
Therefore, he kept a close eye on the young wizard:
Ah—just don't make a mess of the cellar.
[You have brewed a potion to reduce swelling with a beginner level of skill. Proficiency +3]
Sheen was already quite skilled at brewing anti-swelling potions. Although he didn't use any improved rituals or induction techniques, he still managed to make a potion at the "beginner" level, and he was already very close to being a "proficient" one.
The progress, though slow, has been steady and powerful.
After extinguishing the cauldron and storing the potion in a glass cabinet, in a compartment reserved for Sheen—Professor Snape said his trash only deserved to be placed here—Sheen took out his notebook.
"The stirring was too vigorous; the heat should have been turned up when adding the second batch of ingredients... Sheen Green, ha—with talent like that, you dare to arbitrarily alter potion-making rituals?!"
Professor Snape was known for his sarcastic and cynical remarks.
Sheen ignored the second half of the sentence and wrote the first half in his notebook.
His emerald green eyes gleamed slightly—it seemed he had found the final piece of the puzzle to become a master.
The biggest difference between an expert and a beginner is that an expert's potions meet the standards for sale.
Another source of stable income.
Sheen thought.
He placed the notes on the wooden table in the cellar and turned to collect materials from the glass cabinet.
Dried nettles, pufferfish eyes, and bat spleens are all on the second row, left side...
Time slipped away in the wind of the cellar.
After Sheen tidied everything up on the table, he silently walked into the shadows.
