Chapter 119, Section 119: The Gift

Chapter 119, Section 119: The Gift

Halloween has arrived in an atmosphere of anticipation bordering on prayer.

Everywhere was filled with laughter and joy, and all the little wizards were looking forward to the wonderfully decorated castle today.

They exchanged gifts and shared candy with joy, and the same was true in the Hope Hut.

"Oh, Sheen, it's rare that you can carry me."

Justin's words carried very little sarcasm, because when Sheehan pushed open the door, everyone saw him completely submerged in floating candies.

Sheen calmly placed the candy in the wooden cabinet not far from the fireplace; three of the six shelves were already full.

Including the candies from the other people, all sorts of strange snacks had already filled most of the wooden cabinet.

Justin is now using a levitation spell to move some of the candy out of the wooden cabinet.

"Want to try this?"

He was holding up a blue gummy candy shaped like a mouse.

Soon everyone heard Neville's teeth chattering and crunching.

"It's in my mouth!"

Nawi was so frightened that he stuck his tongue out, trying to scrape away the "non-existent" mouse.

“Navie, I told you before we ate it, it’s normal.”

Hermione raised her eyebrows, but there was a smile in her eyes.

Try this—

Justin ate a red candy.

"It's said that the Black Pepper Sprite can make wizards breathe fire... Get out of the way!"

"Wow!"

Seeing black smoke billowing from Justin's mouth and fire shooting out of his ears and nose, Hermione's smile widened even further.

In the wooden cabinet, there were many candies in her compartment, but they were all gifts from her friends in the cottage... Fortunately, that was enough.

On the wooden table.

The biting vine seemed to be stimulated by the flames; its tendrils slowly contracted, turning over the letters that Sheen had placed on the table.

Next to the letter was a silver cat figurine, which looked unremarkable, but actually used a very complex transformation technique—multiple transformations.

The principle behind this advanced transformation is to use transformation on an object multiple times, so that the restoration spell cannot undo the transformation immediately.

It's like an equation where you only need to find one unknown to find the solution; now, you need to find multiple unknowns.

From this perspective, it becomes clear why its difficulty increases so dramatically.

But Sheen had more than one gift to prepare today, so he acted very quickly...

A cooing sound came from afar, and a pure white owl perched on Sheen's window.

Its feathers were disheveled, and it had a tail feather of some unknown bird dangling from the corner of its beak, making the owl appear proud and upright.

After all, it had just defeated ten owls before landing at this window.

"Una, thank you for coming to help."

Sheen raised its head, placed several letters and a small package under its paws, and then brought out a small plate filled with meat, toast, and salad to serve to the kind girl who had helped deliver the messages.

—As for the owl names, Sheen remembers the name of every single owl.

"Cuckoo-"

The pure white owl nuzzled Sheen's fingers, then flew away from the window with the letter in its beak.

Also in front of the stained-glass window, Minerva McGonagall took the letter from the owl. She looked at the silver kitten figurine, her eyes like deep lake water, only with gentle ripples.

Her desk was piled high with countless letters.

Each of those letters was signed in Croydon, and many were not replies but originals brought back by owls. Today, however, the letters are no longer signed by Minerva McGonagall, but by a woman named Roland.

A woman who had volunteered at Hollissett many times.

Charms classroom.

Professor Flitwick, still radiant, stood atop his towering books and spoke loudly in his high-pitched voice:
"Alright, don't forget that subtle wrist movement we've been training! A flick and a shake, remember, a flick and a shake. Pronouncing the incantation accurately is also very important!"

About two weeks have passed since the last Levitation Charm practice, and the young wizards still find it difficult to master the spell.

However, the changes in the classroom today surprised Professor Flitwick greatly.

Last time, Harry and Seamus waved and shook their feathers repeatedly, but the feathers they were supposed to send flying remained motionless on the floor.

In a fit of anger, Seamus even poked the feather with his wand, and the feather caught fire.

But today, a significant number of young wizards seem to have received some kind of standardized training; their pronunciation is uniform and their gestures are precise and steady.

Unsurprisingly, the feathers at least reacted, and some junior wizards could even make them float for quite a while.

"A tremendous step forward! Ladies and gentlemen!"

Professor Flitwick spoke loudly in a high-pitched voice.

"I never imagined that a spell could be so simple; all I had to do was follow the notes—"

Harry heard Ron muttering excitedly to himself and nodded in complete agreement.

"But you're still wrong,"

Harry heard Hermione say this without any politeness.

"It's Yuga-Dim-Levi-O-Sa, and the 'ga' should be pronounced long and clearly."

"You think you're better than Sheen?!"

Ron's face turned red.

Sheehan beside Hermione:
"?"

"You only have the previous version. Sheen's levitation spell has improved more than you have evolved from a troll into a wizard!"

Hermione rolled up her sleeves, waved her wand, and said, "Yugardim Levi-Osa!"

"Oh, well done!"

Professor Flitwick clapped his hands and shouted,
"Look, everyone, Miss Granger's levitation spell is beautiful!"

Near the end of get out of class, Professor Flitwick kept Sheehan behind. The professor, holding a sky-blue notebook, said with a hint of curiosity:

"Ah, a very straightforward approach, quite interesting. It could even be considered significant for wizards just beginning to learn spells, but my dear Mr. Grimm, the mysteries of spells go far beyond these superficial aspects..."

Professor Flitwick offered a few words of praise, and then offered some earnest words of advice.

Sheen knew what the professor was talking about, and he nodded slightly.

Following the sweet aroma of pumpkins, Sheen saw Hermione walking away with her head held high and Ron looking on with curiosity.

Ron, who is eager to find a new notebook, is probably not in the mood to speak ill of Hermione, so it is unlikely that Hermione will encounter a troll in the girls' bathroom.

Sheen thought.

in the corridor.

Ron wasn't in a bad mood; he was more concerned about Sheen's notes than the somewhat annoying Hermione.

He quietly mingled among a group of Gryffindor girls:
"Have the Grimm Notes been updated?"

A Gryffindor witch who lived with Hermione said somewhat irritably:
"Who would know? She said she'd never show us unless we practiced seriously with her... Ha—bookworm!"

"What a pity for Mr. Green, she must have given him some kind of love potion..."

Another witch continued.
