Chapter 167: When Gifts Are Sent and Received
Neville also left school to buy his own wand.
Even when only Sheen remained in Hope's Cottage, he still felt at ease. The warm winter sun seemed to penetrate him completely, snowflakes drifted onto his carving knife, and he heard the sound of the panel:
[You practiced making rooster cookies to the standards of an apprentice, skill level +1]
There's been a lot of good news this winter, and Sheen has finished making his last cookie.
Once the last cookie reaches the "Beginner" level, he will unlock a new alchemy title.
When he was exhausted, Sheen ate two Mrs. Lorris cookies in one go, and in the blink of an eye, the cabin was empty.
Only a black cat remained, walking strangely on the snow.
Its white paws sank into the snow, then it lifted them up as if startled, perhaps because it was a little cold.
In this state, Sheen does not share the fatigue state with his wizard self, because he cannot even sense where the magic is, so how could he be fatigued due to excessive consumption?
With only one night left until Christmas, Sheen's mind was preoccupied with one thing.
A strange thing that could make the lake water ripple.
The bickering between Michael, Anthony, and the others had unusually subsided, and the bouncy bean plant, which hadn't been watered much, looked much more vibrant.
What lay before Sheen was a magical winter night: gifts piled up like a small mountain in the dormitory, and the Christmas tree was covered with sparkly little things.
An owl flew in, carrying a yellowed letter in its beak.
After reading it, Sheen wrote a reply. The owl flew away with Sheen's Galleons, and the original letter was placed in a small wooden box by Sheen.
There are already many letters here, and the most common signature is, of course, Justin. Even though England already has mobile phones, he seems to still prefer this format.
The letter that Sheehan has now received, placed inside, from faraway London, reads as follows:
Dear Green:
Even amidst danger and uncertainty, it is a great and remarkable thing to love.
—Roland Taylor
……
Hogwarts was a bit quieter. The wizards who left could go home and reunite with their families, and the young wizards who stayed... could certainly enjoy a sumptuous lunch.
Sheen had planned to have a big meal, but when he woke up in the morning, the first thing he saw was a small pile of packages at the foot of his bed.
So he started unwrapping the gifts.
He opened a small box first, and inside were dozens of photos.
There are photos of the three of them in the private room when they first met; there are also photos of Hermione on her birthday when she hadn't wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes; and there are also photos of the warm sunshine on the edge of the Forbidden Forest and the busy scene in the kitchen.
[To Sheehan Green:]
My mother said:
Visiting a castle as far away as the Scottish Highlands is like taking a trip.
And the meaning of travel
It was an unexpected encounter.
I often say I want to go far away.
Oh.
Sheen,
Did you know,
I have arrived】
The wind swirled in, carrying white snowflakes. Sheen carefully put the letter away. In Hogwarts Castle, winter was no longer cold.
The second box contained a burst of fireworks that covered the entire Ravenclaw dormitory in confetti, and Sheen knew without a second thought who had sent it.
Then came the third, the fourth... There were never too many gifts.
hall.
Sheehan had never attended such a lavish Christmas party.
On the table were a hundred plump roast turkeys, mountains of roast meat and boiled potatoes, platters of delicious sausages, bowls of peas drizzled with butter, and lots of Christmas pudding. Plates of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce were piled up on top of each other—and every few steps along the table, there were even huge piles of wizard firecrackers waiting for you.
These wondrous firecrackers weren't like the meager firecrackers sometimes sold at orphanages, which only contained small plastic toys and flimsy paper hats. These were the wizard firecrackers used by Fred's twins.
Sheen pulled out a firecracker from a colorful package. It didn't explode like a cannon, but instead made a sound like a flute. It engulfed the long table in a cloud of blue smoke, and from it burst out a mole-shaped hat and several lively little pigeons.
At the head table, Headmaster Dumbledore had swapped his pointed wizard hat for a women's hat adorned with flowers. Professor Flitwick had just told him a joke, and he chuckled happily.
He glanced at Sheen, seemingly unintentionally. Sheen was alone, which stirred up some restless young wizards.
"Go quickly, Abbot, remember? He replied to you, just with a little something extra!"
A witch with deep-set eyes smiled and poked Hannah Abbott.
“He replied to everyone, and, and, Sally, just because Mr. Longbottom brought the herbal guide, I, I really wanted to thank him…”
Hannah blushed. The Hufflepuffs all loved Mr. Green, from head to toe.
He wrote his own "Herbal Guide," which, like his magical history notes, is accurate, comprehensive, and engaging.
According to Mr. Longbottom, who stammered, it was written word by word in the greenhouse, but it was free; if you wanted to help out in the greenhouse, you could get a copy.
Importantly, the first page of the book states:
[Dedicated to every nature-loving shaman. Going to the greenhouse isn't necessary, nor is talent. When you're willing to pick up a hoe, the true work of herbalism begins.]
Overall, thanks to this book, "The Herbalist's Guide," Green's reputation in Hufflepuff changed from "very talented, very distant, and somewhat intimidating" to "he must be a cold-faced but warm-hearted wizard."
"Go! Go!"
With Sallyne and the others urging her to get closer, Hannah grew increasingly friendly, and Dumbledore's smile became more and more amiable.
until--
"Merry Christmas, Sheehan! You'd never guess what Harry received!"
Ron ran over from afar and sat down next to Sheen, startling the group of little witches.
“Merry Christmas. Ron, have you forgotten, Mrs. Weasley’s sweater…”
Harry felt a little embarrassed, and then without hesitation made Ron feel embarrassed too.
“My mom said she absolutely had to send you one, but to be honest, it’s just… Oh my god! You’re wearing it!”
Sheehan knew what Ron was talking about... Mrs. Weasley had also given him a sky-blue sweater.
"It's very warm. Mrs. Weasley is a very good cook."
Sheen said he now has seven sweaters, just enough to wear one every day.
"Merry Christmas!"
"Hey, look—Sheen and Harry got a Weasley sweater too!"
Fred and George appeared, both wearing blue sweaters, one with a big yellow "F" on it and the other with a big yellow "G".
