Chapter 240: The Exam Ends
Chapter 240: The Exam Ends
The Charms exam consisted of making a pear tap dance across a desk, and Professor Flitwick would grade the young wizards based on their performance.
Some young wizards couldn't use spells skillfully, so Pear started dancing jazz; some young wizards didn't have enough control, so Pear would even turn into a frog.
In magic exams, all sorts of mistakes can happen, and it's even possible for a young wizard to transform his companion into a badger.
So they entered the classroom one by one, and the professors checked their learning progress one by one.
"Extremely excellent—"
Professor Flitwick exclaimed in admiration.
Inside the Charms classroom, Professor Flitwick watched with satisfaction as Sheehan's pear skipped over, using even a silent spell.
After leaving the Charms classroom, the next few days were filled with exams like these.
Sometimes it's theory: like the orbits of Jupiter's moons;
Sometimes it's a practical exercise: for example, Professor McGonagall watches them turn a mouse into a snuffbox—the more exquisite the box, the higher the score; if the mouse's whiskers are still on the box, points are deducted.
Apart from Sheehan, Ron and Hermione both performed well in the exam.
When they met in the corridor, Ron, who seemed to have just been encouraged by Professor McGonagall, suddenly turned bright red, looking like a sun-dried carrot.
Today is the last day of the exam.
At the long table, Neville was muttering to himself while looking at the *Elementary Potions Guide*; beside him, Hermione had three open notebooks piled up in front of her, and she was quickly correcting Harry's mistakes in reciting the history of magic. Sometimes, it was hoped that the young wizards in the cabin would quiz each other on the timeline of magical history, but Sheehan thought that quizzes covered too little and were not very useful.
In any case, we survived the Potions exam with Professor Snape standing behind us, a truly nerve-wracking experience.
If they could just hold on for another hour and answer which strange old wizards invented the automatic stirring cauldron, they would be free to play for a whole week until the exam results were announced.
When Professor Binns' ghost told them to put down their quills and roll up their parchment answers, Sheehan heard the young wizards around him cheer.
Stepping out of the examination hall, the sunlight was so bright it seemed to sprinkle honey over Hogwarts Castle, making the young wizards feel as if they were melting.
At the castle gate, the warm sun shone on the grass, and the doors and windows seemed to lower. The grass was forming its seeds, the wind was rustling its leaves, and everyone gazed at the lush green fields, smelling a faint, pleasant fragrance.
"It was much easier than I originally thought,"
As they joined the crowd outside into the sunny field, Hermione said,
“I don’t actually need to memorize the ‘Wolverine Code of Conduct in 1637’ or the details of the Elf Rebellion.”
"Maybe, but the exam is over, so can you please stop making me relive it?"
Hermione always liked to review the exam content after the exam, which Ron said disgusted him.
"You should summarize what you've learned this year. If you don't know the problems, how can you improve?"
Hermione frowned and urged him to study.
"The weather is so nice... I saw a giant squid..."
Ron tried to change the subject. He knew Hermione was right, of course, but knowing and doing were not the same thing.
"Hermione, we've been so busy, studying hard almost every day. Shouldn't we take a break?"
Justin interjected, speaking gently.
"Yeah yeah,"
Ron looked at him like he'd seen a savior, then his eyes darted to Sheen, who hadn't brought his books with him.
"Sheen, what do you think?"
Sheehan looked at Ron and Harry; they had changed a lot. With their persistent efforts, they would probably achieve good results in potions now.
"You can summarize anytime, how about we go see the giant squid?" "Oh, of course, I knew that would be the way to go."
Ron looked very pleased with himself.
"Sheen had already finished summarizing it."
Hermione blurted out those words out of the blue.
Ron looked at Sheehan, then at Hermione, and remained silent for a moment.
So they slowly made their way down the slope to the lake and plopped down under a tree. There, a large squid lay sunbathing in the warm, shallow water, while the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan gently stroked its tentacles.
Without the pressure of exams, the group chatted freely under the trees about the recent forest ban, eager to tell the whole world—
They thwarted Voldemort's plot!
Sheen watched them silently and took out some alchemical materials from his bag.
During a rare moment of leisure for everyone, Sheen created another new alchemical artifact.
……
Leisure time always flies by, and before long it was time to announce the results.
Everyone in Hope Hut achieved excellent results: Sheen was first by a wide margin, and it was said that no professor was willing to deduct a single point from his score.
He passed the exam with a perfect score.
Hermione came in second, and while she was somewhat disappointed with this result, she was also quite satisfied—she had firmly suppressed Justin.
On the night the results were announced, Sheen went deep into the Forbidden Forest.
Teacher Ma Ren is always here on time, not a minute early and not a second late.
Sheen has reached a proficiency level of five in divination magic, but due to the extremely high uncertainty of divination magic, Sheen hasn't even figured out anything useful.
However, Professor Ferenze was quite satisfied with his learning progress.
"Let's learn about some types of herbs. As summer approaches, we'll use sage and mallow..."
Just then, a strong wind blew by, and as expected, Sheen took out his latest alchemical creation—an astronomical instrument.
It was a small, ring-shaped object that quickly grew larger on the ground, then burst into flames and blocked the wind.
"This is?"
It seemed that this was the first time Teacher Ma had ever seen something like this.
"Some simple instruments, their functions are probably to start a fire, keep out the wind, and also to look at the moon."
Sheen explained, waving his hand, and the astronomical instrument jumped into his hand, and soon a telescope-shaped object emerged from inside the ring.
A slight ripple appeared in Teacher Ma Ren's calm eyes.
For a long time, the centaur tribe has followed the laws of nature. When the stars are dim or strong winds blow, they wait for nature to give them another chance to observe.
This is tradition, and also because they have no other choice.
The astronomical instrument proved to be more useful than expected, and for the next few days, Sheen was not bothered by strong winds or dark clouds.
The holiday season is fast approaching, and the last Quidditch match is just around the corner.
Although Sheen didn't pay much attention to this, his workload gradually increased.
