Chapter 293: The Broken Wand
Chapter 293: The Broken Wand
Lockhart is a fraud and a scoundrel, but few people in the wizarding world know this.
Logically, this shouldn't be the case. After all, the wizards he cast the Oblivion Curse on were all somewhat famous and influential.
To achieve this result, he would have to use an oblivion spell to erase everyone's memories. But that would be no less difficult than having him actually relive those events.
"Wandering with Werewolves" is written by Gilderoy Lockhart. It recounts the heroic deeds of Gilderoy Lockhart.
The story primarily revolves around Lockhart helping a village escape the clutches of werewolves. Strangely, Pister, as a resident of the village, has different memories.
Bruce whispered,
“We’ve tried to explain some things, but guess what? Wizards won’t believe the deeds of an ugly old American wizard, even though he saved a village from werewolves.”
People always believe what they want to believe, and even the rescued witch firmly believed that Lockhart was the one who helped her.
Little Green, stay away from people's hearts, for they are foolish; but also stay close to them, for they can be passionate at times.
Do you know the difference?
Bruce revealed a deep expression that Sheen had never seen before.
As Sheen silently watched him, he said:
"Of course, I'll choose! If I choose to help a handsome wizard like me, I won't have to worry about this!"
Bruce walked away triumphantly.
He was smug, but his smugness was completely different from Lockhart's.
……
The next lesson is Transfiguration, which is attended by Gryffindors and Ravenclaws together.
Professor McGonagall asked the wizards to turn a beetle into a button, and Sheehan quickly accomplished this task.
In Transfiguration, few at Hogwarts have surpassed him.
In some ways, he went even further.
The transformation of his soul allowed him to recognize the reincarnation of his soul, while also strengthening his mental capacity to drive changes in his "self".
This means that, apart from Animagus, he can try to use a wand to transform his body, just like Cykrum in the Triwizard Tournament transformed into a shark head.
"Advanced Transfiguration" also introduces the story of an ancient wizard who transformed himself into a bat, but this kind of magic is very special and very risky.
Because it explores territories that wizards have rarely ventured into—Sheen naturally guessed that this was the border region.
While pondering, Sheen didn't forget to wave his wand, causing the wall to subtly deform.
[You have practiced a matter transformation using the beginner level standard in the Master realm. Master level proficiency +3]
[Matter Transformation: Beginner Level (90/300)]
【Soul Transformation: Beginner (110/300)】
Soul transformation, though delayed, has surpassed the progress of physical transformation. Once Sheen reaches a proficient level in physical transformation—meaning he can instantly cause partial changes in the terrain—he can then begin researching basilisk cookies.
He made some rather inadequate preparations: some fire dragons, some three-headed dogs, some goggles to block the basilisk's gaze, some magic that was only at the mid-master level, and a holy sword that he could most likely draw.
Hopefully this will be enough...
“Mr. Weasley, this is the last time, isn’t it?”
Professor McGonagall frowned as she looked away from Sheehan; her students were already on their third beetle.
Before this, he had either crushed the beetles or let them run around, causing the little witch nearby to scream in alarm.
Professor McGonagall in front of him,
After practicing the [Beginner] level transformation five times, Shin felt tired. He turned his head and saw Ron looking dejected.
He waved his wand, but it only crackled and sparked intermittently. Each time Ron tried to transform the beetle, a thick cloud of gray, rotten-egg-smelling smoke immediately enveloped him.
Upon closer inspection, you can see that the wand is wrapped with a layer of magic tape, which may be the reason why the wand cannot be used.
The dinner bell rang.
Everyone left the classroom, leaving only Sheen, Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Ron angrily banged his wand on the table: "Idiot...useless...thing..."
"Write home and ask for another one."
Harry suggested that the wand made a series of crackling sounds like firecrackers.
"Yeah, another yelling letter,"
As Ron spoke, he stuffed the hissing wand into his backpack.
"Your wand broke entirely because of yourself—"
Harry fell silent.
Hermione didn't comfort Ron; instead, she walked away with a "thump thump thump".
She was still angry about the two men's dangerous driving.
"I……"
Harry still wanted to say something, but Wood had already come into the classroom and dragged him away.
"Quidditch practice begins tonight! Now let's go eat—we're already behind! Harry!"
Harry had virtually no chance against the Quidditch madman.
Before he disappeared, he was still thinking, "Isn't today the first day of school?"
The Transfiguration classroom fell silent again. There were many cages there, filled with rats and beetles, for the students to practice Transfiguration. Now, only they were making noise.
Ron kept his head down, his gaze slowly losing focus on the broken wand.
As the evening sun was withdrawing its last rays, the Transfiguration classroom slowly dimmed.
When he was alone, Ron couldn't help but overthink. He recalled a scene he saw in the Magic Mirror—he was the student council president and the captain of the Quidditch team.
Better than Percy, and better than Fred and George.
But reality told him that he was the least noticeable one in the mess.
Your wand is broken.
He heard a soft voice.
"Ah! Sheen—"
Ron was startled, and he quickly hid his wand behind his back.
"Oh, this, this—yes, my wand was broken, but it's okay, I fixed it."
He looked away and said, pretending not to care.
“You need to go to Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Fred and George will help you through the secret passage. Shopkeeper Gert will be waiting for you some distance from the castle; she often waits for Fred and George there. Go this weekend.”
Sheen added.
"This, this actually doesn't exist—"
Ron blushed and frantically tried to hide his embarrassment, but when faced with those calm green eyes, he lost his voice.
"It's ok."
Sheen said.
"This is troublesome; it violates school rules, and what if we get caught..."
Ron could barely hear his own voice, but he was sure it was trembling.
Sheen thought for a few seconds:
"It's ok."
Just then, the dim sunlight that had just covered the elm table pierced through some of the clouds and gently fell on Ron's shoulders.
He looked at the little wizard in front of him and felt that he was like a vast and soft sea.
