Chapter 320: Designation
Chapter 320: Designation
Remus John Lupin is going to take a look.
A whole month has passed since I lost my job.
His life has become increasingly difficult over the past month.
The villagers of Hogsmeade were already quite familiar with his face; finding a job there was very difficult, even with a weekly wage of seven Galleons.
"Are you here to apply for the store manager position too?"
A young witch stopped him at the bookstore entrance and led him to a separate line from the customers.
"Madam, I'm here to apply for a shop assistant position."
He said.
"What's the difference? If you can't become a store manager, you can always apply for a store clerk position later."
The young witch was busy; she went to the shop entrance again and pulled the job applicants over there.
Lupin glanced around the store; there was only one type of book on display: the "Grimm's Notebooks" series, as the banner read.
All the other books on the counter were different categories of this book, including bound volumes and more detailed, lighter subcategories.
This is quite incredible for a bookstore. No bookstore dares to say it only sells one type of book, but this store is clearly different.
Lupin quickly understood why.
These books... are bestsellers.
He picked up a book from the bookshelf in front of him, "The History of Magic," and soon became quite engrossed in it.
until--
"Do you have a wizard here whose wand is 10 1/4 inches long, made of cypress and unicorn hair, and who is between thirty-two and thirty-three years old?"
"The young clerk shouted."
The wizards who applied for the job were stunned for a moment, and then they started making a fuss. What kind of requirements were these?
Lupin was even more puzzled than they were; the request was practically directed at him by name.
"I might fit the bill."
Lupin said.
"Please follow me."
The young shop assistant glanced at him and said with satisfaction.
Once inside the shop, Lupin finally understood what was going on.
in the room.
The carpet was a thick, plush carpet, the walls were lined with books, the fireplace crackled and burned, and pumpkin juice, which didn't quite fit the room's ambiance, simmered in exquisite silverware.
On the chairs, a blond-haired young wizard was dealing with something like a contract, while a black-haired young wizard was reading a book.
When he came in, both of them looked at him.
"We meet again, sir."
The blond little wizard said that, and then went outside.
"Sheen, it's up to you now."
So only two people were left in the room.
Lupin was a little nervous at this moment, a nervousness stemming from his doubts about the unknown.
"who are you?"
Lupin had no idea what the other party was trying to achieve. What did he have to gain?
Wearing patched, tattered clothes, is he still a werewolf?
What alarmed him even more was that the two store managers were too young. A closer look at their clothes would reveal that they came from Tuofan Clothing Store and were quite valuable.
They looked like members of two different families.
"Sheen Green".
Sheen said.
This left Lupin speechless for a moment. This kid...
Upon hearing this name, he recalled the store's name – "Grimm's Bookstore".
He quickly made a connection.
No wonder the content of The History of Magic Notes is still somewhat immature. Although it presents a completely new system and brings readers a new and excellent reading experience, some omissions in the author's knowledge base can still be seen.
For authors who have published books, it's just above the passing grade;
But for a first or second-year wizard...
It’s simply a fantasy.
“This is a book I published with my friends. We’re still studying at Hogwarts, so we need an acting shopkeeper. What do you think?” Sheen closed the book in his hands.
Lupin's eyelids droop, making it difficult for him to stay in one job for long. Once his werewolf identity is exposed, he is usually quickly dismissed.
But he is now destitute and does need a job.
"I regret to decline..."
Lu Ping spoke in a hoarse voice.
These two young wizards... it turns out they came to recruit a shopkeeper. They must have gone to great lengths to get out of Hogwarts Castle. He knows how difficult it was, especially for such rule-abiding wizards.
This is probably their only chance. If they are laid off, they will have to take time off to recruit new people.
Can you give me a reason?
Sheen asked.
“I…I…am a werewolf.”
The little wizard in front of you has a strange magic; when he asks you a sincere question, it’s hard to lie.
"It's okay, I can give you two more days off, as long as you take care of things at the store in advance."
Sheen seemed to be talking about something trivial, while Lupin stood there, stunned.
"Perhaps you didn't understand what I meant..."
Lupin was silent for a moment, then spoke again.
"A werewolf who looks no different from an ordinary person except that he transforms into a wolf during the full moon of each month?"
You registered at the werewolf registry, right? You remember the werewolf rules, right? Like locking yourself up during the full moon each month to avoid harming others.
Sheen said.
"certainly……"
Lupin said.
"That's no problem."
Sheehan's expression made Lupin wonder if his former bosses were overreacting, and he finally smiled helplessly.
“Child, I appreciate your kindness, but you seem to have no idea what werewolves mean.”
Sheen looked at him, his bright green eyes shining:
"Besides being werewolves, they are also wizards, right?"
On Sheen's desk was a book called "Hairy Nose, Human Heart".
It is a book written by an anonymous author by Whitshard Books, and it tells the heartbreaking story of a wizard's struggle against werewolfification. It was published in 1975.
By the 1990s, this book had become a classic.
"You have a one-month probation period. If you don't perform well, I will still fire you."
Sheen added.
Lupin chuckled to himself; he seemed to have encountered an excessively amusing little wizard.
"I will do my best."
……
After sneaking out of the bookstore, Justin separated from Sheehan.
He didn't ask Sheen why he hired a werewolf as the shopkeeper; he just kept looking at Lupin with curiosity.
Sheen also gained an extra helper:
"Let's go to the Magic House first, then to Gringotts. You can Apparate, right?"
Sheen asked.
That way, he wouldn't have to bother the busy and overwhelmed store manager, Gert.
Because the shops in Diagon Alley were so well managed, the Weasley twins called her in to expand their territory there.
"You'll be the Duke of the North!"
Fred always smiled mischievously.
"My salary has doubled!"
George joined in the laughter and joking.
Manager Gert had nothing to say and was always sullen, so Sheen didn't want to bother her at this time.
"of course."
Lupin tightened his patched clothes.
