Chapter 324, Section 323: The Chicken Claw Bone-Removing Spell
The accident still happened.
Harry's blurry vision and intense desire to win led him to rush toward the Golden Snitch near Malfoy's ear without even seeing the other bouncing ball clearly.
"Watch out! Harry!"
Fred was shouting.
With a splash, Harry fell into the mud and tumbled off the broom.
His arm was hanging there at a very strange angle.
Amidst waves of excruciating pain, he heard numerous whistles and shouts, seemingly coming from a great distance. He looked closely and saw the Golden Snitch firmly gripping his uninjured hand.
"Aha,"
He said vaguely,
"we won."
Then, he fainted.
In the stands, the wizards held their breath in shock at the sudden turn of events.
Sheen silently put down his wand; it seemed Harry's luck wasn't so good.
"Harry!"
Hermione gasped and rushed off the stands with the audience.
On the pitch, Sheen could see the Gryffindor Quidditch team in a strange state: some were cheering for victory in the distance, while others were frantically flying towards Harry.
When Sheen reached the Quidditch pitch, Lockhart had already surrounded Harry.
Sheen saw Lockhart flash a row of gleaming teeth as soon as Harry woke up.
Then everyone heard Harry's voice trembling:
"Oh, no, I don't want you."
Harry groaned.
"I don't know what he's talking about."
Lockhart spoke loudly to the anxious Gryffindor students gathered around him.
"Don't worry, Harry. I'm just about to treat your arm."
"No!"
Harry said,
"Let it be as it is, thank you..."
He tried to sit up, but his arm hurt too much.
"Lie down, Harry,"
Lockhart comforted him,
"It's a simple spell that I've used countless times."
Why can't I just go to the school clinic?
Harry gritted his teeth and spoke through clenched teeth.
"He really should go to the hospital."
Covered in mud, Wood said he couldn't hide the smile on his face despite his injured seeker.
"That grab was absolutely brilliant, Harry! It was amazing! I've never seen you do anything so beautiful before."
Through the dense mass of legs around him, Harry saw Fred and the Weasley brothers desperately trying to push the out-of-control ball back into the box.
The ball continued to struggle fiercely.
"Stand back."
As Lockhart spoke, he rolled up his emerald green sleeves.
"No—don't—"
Harry said weakly, but Lockhart was already spinning his wand.
……
Harry's bones are healed, or perhaps they're gone.
Regardless, Sheen was far away, but Lockhart's spell was released very quickly, and Sheen had no time to stop it.
When Harry's hand turned into a pitiful, lifeless thing, Sheehan inexplicably began to wonder if such a curse existed.
Sheen quickly scanned the Standard Spells series in his mind and finally determined that it was Lockhart's own creation.
This discovery took Sheen somewhat by surprise.
"Chicken claw bone-removing spell?" Justin suddenly blurted out a question for no apparent reason.
Sheen gave him a strange look.
"Alright, Sheen, if you're not worried, then I guess I have nothing to worry about either..."
He blinked.
This statement was almost completely nonsensical, but Neville, who was shaking like a sieve, stopped trembling.
Justin glanced at Neville seemingly casually before a look of worry appeared in his eyes.
Lockhart didn't set Harry's bones properly; he removed them all.
When Sheen and the others took Harry to the hospital, Mrs. Pomfrey was very unhappy.
"You should have come directly to me!"
She said angrily, lifting up that limp thing; just half an hour ago, it was a fully functional arm.
"I can set bones in a second—but getting them to grow back—"
"You can do it too, right?"
Harry asked very eagerly.
"That will be very difficult to endure. Drinking it and growing bones is a very uncomfortable thing."
Ms. Pomfrey held a large bottle labeled "Bone-Generating Spirit" in her hand, and poured a full glass of it amidst the curious gazes of the crowd.
Harry took a sip, gagged, and almost threw up.
"You thought it was pumpkin juice?"
Ms. Pomfrey rolled her eyes at him.
As far as she knew, only one person could obtain a special flavor from a certain potion master.
She looked at the young wizard who was holding an ancient book and reading it; a few words on the cover were visible between his knuckles:
A Simple Introduction to Empty Symbols
Just then, the door to the ward suddenly opened, and the Gryffindor team members came to see Harry.
They were all covered in mud, looking like drowned rats.
“Harry, you flew so well!”
George said,
“I just saw Marcus Flint yelling at Malfoy, saying that the Golden Snitch was right above his head and he couldn’t see it. Malfoy didn’t look too happy about it.”
The team members brought cakes, candies, and several bottles of pumpkin juice.
They were gathered around Harry's bed, about to have a very happy party, when Mrs. Pomfrey suddenly stormed in, roaring:
"This child needs rest; he has thirty-three bones to grow! Get out! Get out!"
She was like an eagle protecting its young.
"Of course, not you, dear Sheen. Today we're going to talk about those potions we've been lacking lately..."
So, only Harry and Sheehan remained in the ward.
Sheen tallied the potions for a while, and then Madam Pomfrey happily walked away.
"Don't change the flavor of the potion without permission, child. If they get a taste of its benefits, the hospital might become completely overcrowded."
Sheen finally understood why most of the potions at the school hospital tasted terrible.
He looked into the curtain; Harry was tossing and turning, finding it hard to sleep. The feeling of growing bones was not pleasant.
Interestingly, Harry has a connection to the potion of bone growth.
The Potter family's ancestor, Lynfred of Stinchcomb, invented many potions, one of which evolved into Bone Spirit.
Now, it is working on his descendants.
If wizarding magic is a kind of faith, then how do you explain those strange magical bloodlines?
As Sheen pondered, he suddenly noticed a problem.
It seems that only the bloodline abilities of powerful wizards have been passed down, such as Dumbledore's phoenix affinity and Slytherin's Parseltongue...
At least Sheen has never heard of a bloodline like the slug cavity, nor has he heard of an ability like caterpillar affinity.
Logically speaking, magic is vast, and if bloodlines are truly a kind of mutation and inheritance, then it is possible for some special bloodlines to appear.
But in fact, there is nothing about these things.
In other words, only the unique bloodline of great wizards will be passed down.
So, what kind of changes occur in wizards when they reach a very high level?
