Chapter 401, page 399: Standards of Transfiguration
early morning.
All the candles were extinguished, with only the distant horizon and the silvery ghosts emitting a faint glow.
"Good morning."
Sheen noticed out of the corner of his eye that the torches and lanterns in the corridor were gradually lighting up.
"It makes no difference whether it's morning or night."
Ms. Gray's gaze drifted into the distance.
Sheen didn't reply immediately. He noticed out of the corner of his eye the corridor where wizards occasionally passed by, and he began to understand.
Based on this, ghosts must be unable to sleep.
In other words, after becoming ghosts, they cannot live, cannot die, and have no consciousness. It seems that only their thoughts wander the world, forever, without end.
For people who have lived for hundreds of years, death is finally a time of rest.
Once you become a ghost, you never have a choice, and you can never rest.
Moreover, ghosts are a relatively "lower" existence. They cannot eat, touch, interfere with the world of the living, and even their thoughts are extremely primitive.
For example, they know that one plus one equals two, but they can't explain why.
To see everything yet touch nothing, to witness everything yet interfere with nothing, to experience everything yet think about nothing… To experience the ever-changing world of others while remaining unchanged is an extremely painful process.
This is also one of the reasons why few wizards choose this way of life.
"Perhaps you should take a rest."
Sheen said.
"Green, you always have ridiculous ideas in your head that leave people speechless."
Ms. Gray shook her head and smiled.
“Call me Helena, Green. Logically I should hate you, but someone like you, someone like her, is just... You have class now, Green.”
"Five minutes and twenty-three seconds left."
Sheen nodded in reply.
"Yeah, I knew it, she looks a lot like her."
Ms. Grey stared at Sheehan.
She would only mention that person and dare to recall everything related to her when she was facing the little wizard.
"You too."
Sheen naturally thought of Ravenclaw, and that's what she said too.
My head is always filled with absurd ideas...
"Ah……"
Ms. Gray, of course, did not believe it.
How can a shameful traitor be associated with a great name like Ravenclaw?
She gazed at the distant snow-capped mountains, which were tall and covered in pure white snow.
Her gray eyes gradually dimmed.
“I think that only when Ms. Ravenclaw admits to the betrayal, Miss Helena, may you truly be on this path.”
Before this point, all scolding is acceptable.
Sheen said slowly.
Of course, on any moral level, betrayal has become a given fact.
Perhaps there is no longer a place for Helena Ravenclaw in this world.
But who, besides Rowena Ravenclaw, could judge her soul?
They were just... outsiders.
“Green…”
Helena smiled blankly.
“I’ve never seen you talk so much, or be so funny. It reminds me of Tom Riddle from many years ago.”
Perhaps you have a point, and it has indeed given my shameful life a little respite, but Green, I thank you, and please don't worry about me anymore.
She politely declined, something Sheehan had anticipated.
"Miss Helena."
Sheen said.
Helena sighed softly, then looked at him again. No matter how much he bothered her, he was never annoying. It was a strange thing.
"If you'd like to hear some stories..."
Sheen added.
“I won’t refuse you, Green, you know that, but please don’t always push your luck.”
Helena floated away.
"By the way, you have one minute left."
Will Sheen be late for class?
This is an extremely difficult task, no less challenging than the troll defeating Dumbledore.
Therefore, when Sheen arrived at the Transfiguration classroom, not all the young wizards were seated.
However, this was still somewhat strange, since Sheen was always used to arriving early.
In the words of the young wizards at Hogwarts, you can find all the qualities of learning magic in Mr. Grimm.
Minerva McGonagall's gaze lingered on him briefly before she began to announce the theme of this Transfiguration lesson:
Transform the little white rabbit into slippers.
The young wizards immediately got busy.
"boom!"
A loud bang came from behind Sheen, and Seamus's wand slipped from his hand, causing one of the desk legs to suddenly explode.
Professor McGonagall waved her wand, restoring the table legs to their original positions and then turned around, instinctively glancing at Sheehan.
He practiced his transformation magic quietly, making dozens of white rabbits appear in the snow outside the castle window time and time again.
Even though his Transfiguration skills had long since advanced, he still lacked the kind of eagerness for quick success that only geniuses possess.
Or rather, only wizards like this can be called geniuses?
Minerva McGonagall was pleased and then proceeded to instruct the young wizards who were practicing in turn.
"The gestures must be decisive, and you must have a clear intention in your mind..."
She said sternly,
"Very good, everyone, as you can see, Mr. Weasley has succeeded!"
Ron? Harry, standing to the side, never imagined that Ron would one day be so outstanding.
The students in the class started talking all at once, and the classroom was filled with chatter as everyone craned their necks to look at Ron.
“You can take a closer look; the slippers don’t have ears. It’s a very nice transformation, Mr. Weasley.”
she said again.
Ron blushed. Professor McGonagall's words sounded very familiar, like something Sheehan would say:
"Ron, you did it! Very good transformation. Hmm, I think you're quite good at this. You're a [Master]."
Sometimes Ron felt that Sheen's standards were too strict; bringing an inanimate object to life was only considered a "mid-level Transfiguration."
Letting this "living thing" run around for three minutes only qualifies as being a "skilled" person.
But when Ron thought about how Sheen could make the floor of the secret chamber cave in, trapping the basilisk that was more than ten meters long, he felt that it was understandable.
Apart from the chirping of various animals, the Transfiguration classroom was filled with exclamations of wonder surrounding Ron.
In the center of the awe, Ron couldn't help but look at Sheen, who was practicing diligently. In the distance, dozens of snow rabbits were hopping and skipping around.
……
After class, Sheen tapped his wand, and the Wizarding Book quickly shrank into a pendant. He then swiftly left the classroom.
But he was blocked at the classroom door.
"Xion..."
Ron displayed an unusual awkwardness.
Behind him, Hermione and Harry had already curiously hidden themselves to eavesdrop.
"Ah."
Sheen glanced behind Ron and stopped.
"I've wanted to say this for a long time..."
Ron seemed to be going all out.
“You know, I never thought I could be like… Fred and the others.”
Oh, but you set the standards for Transfiguration, helped us practice, and shared the most detailed notes...
I don't know how to say it. I thought I couldn't do anything, but your standards have freed me from groping around in a daze... That's exactly what I wanted to express.
Without these standards, a part of me would forever remain lost.
