Chapter 461, Page 459: Phoenix's Afternoon Tea
Phoenix Fox is about to rise from the ashes, but there's no one in the principal's office at this moment.
Sheen wasn't a young wizard who liked to look around; he waited under the portrait with "A History of Magical Positions" in hand.
This document still has room for improvement. For example, regarding the Auror section, wizards should also know that the Ministry of Magic reviews applicants' criminal records.
This requires wizards to maintain a good image. For example, Harry was once accused of using magic outside of school. If that accusation had not been dropped, it would have been difficult for Harry to become an Auror—at least that's what the rules say.
For example, Auror training programs are numerous, with two subjects being "concealment and disguise" and "stealth and tracking."
In the original book, Tonks mentioned that she easily achieved the highest score in "concealment and disguise" (which should be attributed to her innate ability to disguise herself as Magus), but she almost failed the "stealth and tracking" test.
The magical world is not just the vague impression in Sheen's mind; it has many details and a complete framework.
These are all things that Sheen is willing to explore.
He often gained additional knowledge from changes in positions within the magical world.
It was as if he had learned that the last few giant settlements had been wiped out by the Ministry of Magic, and the organization sent out was a well-trained Auror whose fighting power far exceeded that of a single settlement of giants.
Another task involves dealing with a raging fire dragon, which is also handled by the Aurors, along with a dragon tamer...
Isn't that interesting?
The individual differences among wizards can be so great—Aurors can strike giants and deal with dragons, but most adult wizards would tremble at the sight of them.
Throughout magical history, Aurors have always shouldered this seemingly daunting task, and interestingly, they have consistently performed it admirably.
The fact that most of the dragons and giants have now been wiped out by wizards is a clear example.
Does this mean that the upper limit of a wizard's magical abilities has never decreased, since in Ravenclaw's memory, the magical power of the ancient wizards she once saw was not much stronger than that of the Aurors?
Therefore, Sheen concluded that magic is malleable.
Ancient wizards needed powerful magic to earn the right to survive, so ancient magic was naturally powerful.
Modern wizards need more convenient and effective magical power, so the standard spell set is simple and easy to use.
"In theory, a wizard's magic should only be subject to one limitation: that is, the wizard himself."
If a wizard possesses unwavering faith and a corresponding spiritual will, then magic has already been born—spells, wands, and gestures are merely practical methods for future generations to easily master this power.
This explains the ultimate source of wizarding magic—in the magical world, magic may be an objectively existing material force, or it may be a truly idealistic spiritual force—but in the individual wizard, the root of magic is absolutely idealistic.
As for the differences in talent between individual wizards… keep writing, darling, I’m so curious—”
"Good afternoon, Principal Delis De Winter."
The principal was not present, but the items in the principal's office seemed to be more active.
At that moment, the portrait of Headmistress Delis de Winter was watching Sheehan with great interest as the young wizard wrote down his understanding of magic.
"Many wizards have lived in this office, but perhaps you are the most talented one."
Principal Delis DeWente said kindly.
"I am not a resident here, nor am I the principal."
Sheen put away his parchment and pen.
"It'll happen sooner or later, darling."
Principal Delis De Winter was all smiles.
Sheen fell silent. Headmistress Delis de Winter's words were too blunt, reminding Sheen of something Headmaster Dumbledore had said:
"But if you want to replace me, you'll have to find an old wizard a place for him first."
"So, what is the source of the differences in talent among individual wizards?"
Principal Delis De Winter asked curiously.
Her words drew a group of headmasters, several pairs of eyes fixed intently on Sheehan. "Magic changes reality, and reality influences magic."
Sheen said.
"What do you mean?"
The old headmaster, Evra, asked.
He was an old wizard with a pale face and short black bangs.
"When a wizard's magic reaches a certain level, it will affect the wizard himself, and this effect is hereditary."
Therefore, the descendants of wizards will exhibit the magical traits corresponding to their ancestors.
If you have studied the history of magic, you will find that descriptions of the founders of certain special magical powers are always vague.
It wasn't that the wizards who wrote the books at the time didn't want to explain the source of this power; rather, the source was inherently inexplicable—the source was the wizards themselves.
Sheen then unfolded the parchment.
"A novel interpretation—"
The old wizard was full of amazement.
"Is this also why there is no caterpillar bloodline or slug bloodline?"
Principal Delis De Winter asked with a curious smile.
Sheehan closed the notebook to prevent Principal Delis De Winter from peeking at it again.
Caterpillar bloodline, slug bloodline—this was a question Sheen had long ago.
"Ravenclaw's stinginess with knowledge..."
Principal Delis De Winter smiled like a sunflower.
Avoiding the amusing principals who were always trying to peek at his notes, Sheehan could see an old, decrepit bird—it looked just like a turkey that had been plucked of half its feathers.
Sheen stared at it, and the bird looked back at him with sorrowful eyes, while making suffocating sounds.
Sheehan secretly handed Mr. Fox some herbs, all of the finest quality from Diagon Alley.
Mr. Fox stopped pretending to be sick to tease him and instead started humming happily.
A melodious song drifted from the principal's office.
This was the most beautiful sound Sheen had ever heard… He felt the singing within him, not just around him… The sound evoked many thoughts in him, almost like a friend speaking in his ear…
“That’s wonderful. It looks like Mr. Fox has sung a song for our afternoon tea.”
It was Headmaster Dumbledore who pushed open the door and entered.
"The song of the phoenix can inspire people, ignite their fighting spirit, and remind them of someone who can inspire them most, or a memory. I'm really curious, what did you hear?"
A soft flapping sound came from Sheen's left. It was the phoenix Fox, which had left its perch on a branch and flown over from the other end of the office to land on Sheen's lap.
"The person who inspires him the most..."
Sheen said softly,
"I heard my own voice."
"what……"
Dumbledore fell silent for a moment.
At that moment, Fox calmly winked at Sheehan.
