Chapter 63: Swelling Potion

Chapter 63: Swelling Potion
Swelling agents, as the name suggests, can cause a part of an object to swell up.

Sheen didn't know where it was used, only that it was like most potions—

Improper cooking or use can lead to serious consequences.

For example, when the second-year students were making swelling potions, Harry threw a firework into Goyle's cauldron to distract everyone.

But wherever the medicine splashed, people's arms, noses, eyes, and so on swelled up strangely.

So Sheehan carefully observed Professor Snape's every move, while his quill pen scribbled away.

Grind two spoonfuls of dried nettles, grind three pufferfish eyes, put the two portions of the ground mixture into a crucible, heat for twenty seconds, wave the magic wand...

Professor Snape's explanations often deviated from the book's narrative, and in some parts, he even made significant modifications.

If any young wizard dares to be even slightly distracted and miss the instructions in the book, an accident could easily occur.

This may be one of the reasons why Professor Snape was so serious, even intimidating to the young wizards.

"If your empty brains have finally been filled with some knowledge,"

Professor Snape waved his wand, and the brewed potion was poured into a crystal bottle.
He glanced around, and the young wizards fell silent, terrified.

"Then pair up and get started!"

Then the classroom was filled with clanging and banging sounds as the little wizards began to boil things up, trembling with fear.

After a while, the cooking process reached its final stage.

"...process the last batch of ingredients, boil until a layer of white foam appears on the surface of the medicine..."

Justin, referring to his notes, appeared even more nervous than Sheen, who was stirring the mixture.

Professor Snape was still making a full rounds to prevent any further accidents.

When he reached Sheehan and Justin, he paused.

I glanced casually at the notes that were laid out.

Heh—not bad, at least it's detailed enough to barely pass...

"Oh, but Sheehan, why are our bubbles blue?"

Just then, Justin raised a question.

A dark cloud was looming over him, causing his already tense body to tremble slightly.

Sheen's face was somewhat pale. He turned his head and calmly gave Justin the answer that made his eyes go black:

"Failed."

Justin didn't dare to look up, as if he was waiting for something.

"Redo it! You two idiots!"

Professor Snape's roar rang out as expected.

Hearing that no points had been deducted, Justin breathed a sigh of relief and then said softly:

"You don't look well. Do you want to rest for a while? I'll take care of it."

After Professor Snape left, Justin took on all the potion-making tasks, handling the ingredients with exceptional care.

Sheen, on the other hand, was panting heavily. He had underestimated the physical exhaustion from the last potion-brewing ritual and the will-guided practice.

Master Polachi's ritual was like overdrawing on a wizard's magical abilities.

While it may allow for a short period of high-level performance in brewing a potion, it will also lead to a period of weakness.

Just like now, he clearly felt that the problem in the final stage lay in his insufficient magical output.

He was panting when he saw some berry candies placed on the table.

"Shall we take a break? Have something to eat, it's a new flavor, it's berries from the Scottish Highlands."

Justin spoke as he controlled the bubbling crucible.

Sheen nodded, silently assessing his condition; it seemed he could still cast some spells.
But when it comes to potions, they are powerless to help.

This means that brewing potions requires a higher level of magical power and mental fortitude from the wizard.

No wonder there are so few Potions Masters. At the same time, Sheen also realized that the enhancements that wands and spells provide to wizards seem somewhat terrifying.

Sheen can now cast at least three or four levitation spells, and their effects are no less than those of potions that allow people to float.

But if he were to brew such a potion right now, he would probably faint on the spot.

While Sheen was silently pondering and reminding Just of the cooking details according to his notes,
Professor Snape, carrying a roster, stormed in like a whirlwind.

"Susan Earls, Lisa Dupin,
"Ha—the troll's material handling—I bet you didn't even process the pufferfish eyes to the required standard,"

He first made a few sarcastic remarks to the two young witches who had brewed a pot of thick potion.

"One point deducted—each person. And what are you waiting for?! Are you waiting for the potion to brew itself?!"

Then, just as Susan was shrinking back and about to cry, he shaved it away.

"Ernie McMillan—if you stir it to the right again, get out! That way at least this pot of potion won't explode on its own! Two points deducted!"

Ernie quickly stopped, took out his book, and almost pressed his eyes to the page with trembling hands.

"Barely acceptable—Michael Corner, what are you waiting for? To let the potion spoil?!"

He transformed into a relentless point-deduction machine, with countless "minus one," "minus two," "minus one" sounds seemingly popping up above his head...

Sheehan and Justin watched as Professor Snape arrived beside them.

Just as the two were waiting for the storm to break, Professor Snape paused for a moment and ignored the scene.

"call--"

Justin breathed a sigh of relief.

Sheen, however, silently stared at the crystal bottle that had suddenly appeared in his hand.

It contained a clear liquid, and the only annotation was: Drink.

……

After leaving the cellar, Sheen was still somewhat dazed. The potion from Professor Snape had only one effect—to enhance vitality.

It looks similar to an enhancer, but it is remarkably effective at restoring magic levels.

After drinking Sheen's magic, I recovered a lot of my energy, and my stamina seemed to improve a lot when climbing the stairs.

In the cellar,
Severus Snape stared for a long time at the potion that had failed to brew due to insufficient magical energy.

A line of text was faintly visible on the roster in my hand:

“Sheen Green, Guardian: None”

……

hall.

This place is still full of noise and vitality.

The four college tables were laden with lunch plates, the golden plates and goblets gleaming under the glow of hundreds of candles.

The students chattered away as they enjoyed their oatmeal, bacon, and pumpkin juice.

“Sheen, my mother always said that sunrises are free, and so are sunsets—”

Justin picked up a piece of pudding and suddenly whispered...

"So if you're tired, take a break."

His light gray eyes revealed sincerity.

Sheen nodded silently.

until--

"The rabbit's eyes, the harp's melodious tune, let's turn this clear water into fine wine!"

Sheen was a little confused. He turned around and saw that Simo was sitting next to him.
