Chapter 64 A shining debut
Chapter 64 A shining debut
boom!
A loud bang shattered the silence.
Everyone in the room was startled and instinctively looked toward the source of the noise, their shoulders hunching up as if a Tyrannosaurus Rex might suddenly appear behind them.
A figure emerged from the cubicle and came into view. With wild, messy hair, flushed cheeks, and hazy eyes, it was clear that the figure had just woken up from a dream.
He wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans, a simple and casual outfit that exuded youthful energy. His perfect proportions of broad shoulders and narrow waist made the fabric look even better. The cuffs of his jeans were rolled up, and he was barefoot, making his entrance into the P-room. He was dashing, unrestrained, and carefree, with his eyes barely open.
One appearance, breaking all rules and frameworks, effortlessly capturing everyone's attention.
It wasn't until the engine noise and commotion from the maintenance area outside that the ART team in the pit lane realized what was happening. They held their breath, remained completely silent, and froze, turning their heads to look. All eyes were drawn to that one figure.
It took him a full beat to realize the unusual quiet before him. The outside noise surged in like a tidal wave. He rubbed his eyes, and a slight smile appeared on his lips, like the first ray of sunlight piercing through the darkness of an early summer morning and falling on the dewdrops. The stuffy air felt refreshing.
Good morning, everyone. Have a great day!
After saying that, he waved goodbye, turned around and walked away barefoot. Just like that... he walked away, seemingly heading towards the shower room?
That's it?
They stared at each other, speechless. Russell, Han Shilong, and the others stood there dumbfounded, their brains and tongues tied in knots, unable to react for a moment.
The figure had completely disappeared from sight. After a short while, Russell turned to look at Han Shilong and asked, "Is that him?"
Han Shilong pursed his lips, spread his hands, and looked like he didn't know either.
Russell couldn't believe his eyes. "He's just a baby."
Han Shilong didn't linger, casually remarking, "A baby stuffed with checks in diapers, I suppose." Then he turned and left.
Han Shilong doesn't care, and neither do Russell and Hubert. He only needs to focus on himself. No one in the team is his opponent. His only opponent is himself. As long as he performs well, he is determined to win the championship this year. There is no need to be distracted by others.
Russell tried to say something more, but found that Han Shilong had already left. He turned to look in another direction, and Huber also turned to continue studying the data.
Russell: ? ? ?
He was left standing alone, isolated and helpless. Russell sighed dejectedly, looking up at the sky again in the direction Lu Zhizhou had left.
Whether it's a mule or a horse, you'll only know after it's been put on the track. In the end, the winner will be decided on the track, even for Lance Stroll.
Russell composed himself, regained his composure, and got back into his training rhythm. He wasn't about to let that baby ruin his game.
Russell wasn't losing his head; his opponent was Han Shilong, and he couldn't let that distract him from the main point.
Han Shilong wanted a winning start to the season, but Russell was also full of confidence.
When Lu Zhizhou finished washing up and returned to the pit room, the team was already running normally. The tension and busyness of the new season permeated the air, turning into a battleground. Only occasionally could one notice scrutinizing gazes drifting over, lingering briefly before quickly shifting away.
Lu Zhizhou, however, was not nervous. Without disturbing others' work, he easily found a seat, got into work mode, and began reading the data.
GP3和F3欧洲系列赛的一个最大区别在于,GP3由FIA举办,它和F2、F1同步举行。
In other words, GP3, like F2, is a support race for F1, standing in the spotlight alongside F1. Even if the general public doesn't pay much attention, the exposure is still there. More importantly, they are right under the noses of the F1 teams, with team managers and owners constantly monitoring firsthand information.
When a new talent emerges, the paddock witnesses it up close, and every move can cause a stir. This weekend was no exception: the fifth race of F1, the second race of F2 after its first season following integration, and the season opener of GP3. They all gathered at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, basking in the Catalan sun to compete.
Friday's schedule is packed: F1 free practice, F2 free practice, F1 second free practice, F2 qualifying, and GP3 free practice.
From morning till night, it's packed full.
Although Lu Zhizhou and his group arrived at the hunting grounds early in the morning, they actually had to wait until 5:50 p.m. to make their appearance.
Currently, all eyes are focused on F1, from camera lenses and cheering crowds to media reporters, including GP3 itself.
For Lu Zhizhou, everything was unfamiliar, and everything was also exhilarating—
The roar, the heatwave, the noise—you don't even need to move; just being there is enough to make your blood boil.
In the past, watching a race on a TV screen made it difficult to truly experience the thrill of "300 kilometers per hour," and one might even think that the speed of those race cars was nothing special; but being there in person, watching with your own eyes and listening with your own ears, the explosive sound of the car cutting through the air can instantly ignite your heart.
Racing is far more than just circling around a track; it's a collision between humans and machines, an adventure in the pursuit of ultimate speed.
It wasn't until my feet were actually on the paddock that the excitement and joy became real, and my soul seemed to be able to touch the passion of the track.
Of course, experts see the details while laymen only see the spectacle. After a brief moment of excitement, Lu Zhizhou also got into work mode.
The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit is 4.655 kilometers long with sixteen corners. It features frequent alternations between climbs and descents, mainly medium- and high-speed corners, and significant changes in lateral and longitudinal loads. This is a track that severely tests the performance of racing cars.
If the performance gap between the cars is too large, it is difficult for the driver to turn the tide. Therefore, since the beginning of the new century, the cars that have won here have been the fastest cars in the paddock.
Does this mean that drivers will find it difficult to showcase their abilities?
The answer is, of course, no.
The Barcelona circuit is a true test of a driver's control over the tires and balance.
The track temperature is frighteningly high, with the ground temperature often exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, making it feel like running on a hot iron plate. Especially with many long corners at high speeds and tight braking points, tire wear and heat fade seem to haunt you like ghosts, putting braking and traction to a severe test.
Furthermore, there are more challenging right turns, which may cause greater wear and tear on the front left wheel, and the overall balance of the car will gradually shift as the race progresses.
Therefore, on this track, car performance is king, but the driver's skill is key.
Especially for the standard GP3 cars, the configurations are the same and the performance is almost identical; at the same time, there are no strict pit stop requirements, and the cars often run on the same set of tires, so the driver's control and use of the tires becomes even more important.
Otherwise, in the second half of the race, insufficient tire grip will put them at a disadvantage in offensive and defensive battles, and they could easily lose their position.
"...Are you observing Turn 9 and Turn 10?"
A slightly childish voice came from the side. Lu Zhizhou reacted subconsciously, and a face was right next to him. It was as if an "alien" had broken the fourth wall and appeared on his shoulder. He was really startled.
First update today. The new book launch period is almost over, time for the final sprint! Keep reading! I earnestly request your support, thank you everyone!
