Lu Mingfei, become the King of Elden!

Chapter 117 The World Completion Project Part 1

Chapter 117 The World Completion Project - Part One
As a familiar golden figure slowly rose from the smoky church, Lu Mingfei couldn't help but complain:
"Too slow! Subaru, if you slow down any further, my ashes will turn to dust here."

Natsuki Subaru was dressed as a black-flame martial arts cultivator as always, with his signature hunting god greatsword slung over his shoulder.

He glared at Lu Mingfei with those dead fish eyes and said in an annoyed tone:
"Can you be nicer to me? Right now, I'm the only one in the entire border region who can be your guide in Galid."

Besides, do you know how big Galid is? It takes me half a day just to ride a horse to the nearest Blessed Point.”

As he spoke, he rubbed his neck, emerging completely from the blessed light of the bonfire church.

Lu Mingfei shrugged.

He knew that Subaru was basically telling the truth—although the way this guy got here was outrageous, his familiarity with the terrain of Gailid was unmatched.

However, he also knew that Subaru didn't care about his complaints. They were used to this way of getting along by teasing each other.

The strong bond that gradually formed between Lu Mingfei, Subaru, Kaneki, and Emiya, which started as strangers, has become one of the few sources of comfort for him in this cruel land. Although they bicker and tease each other in their daily lives, they would not hesitate to entrust their backs to each other.

Seeing Subaru still muttering about the vastness and danger of Galid, complaining that Lu Mingfei didn't appreciate his kindness, Lu Mingfei suddenly stopped making a joke.

"Hey, Subaru. Anastasia, do you know anything about that 'Fade-Eater'?"

Subaru's gaze sharpened slightly as he pondered, a black flame seemingly flickering deep within his pupils.

"Anastasia..."

Subaru slowly repeated the name, his voice lowering, then he slowly shook his head:

"No, I haven't heard of that name."

Lu Mingfei was stunned for a moment:
"So that means this guy isn't from another time, but a native Faded One?"

Subaru nodded:
That's most likely the case.

"That shouldn't be the case."

Lu Mingfei's words carried a hint of disbelief:
"Then why does this guy only infiltrate my site and not yours? Didn't you come to the Church of Smoked Fire before? Is it just the wrong time?"

Natsuki Subaru scratched his head, seemingly thinking about how to explain to Lu Mingfei.

"Hmm, Lu Bu-kun, Emiya told you that the world we live in is a parallel world, right?"

Lu Mingfei nodded.

"But 'parallel' does not mean 'mirror image'. Our worlds are similar yet independent fragments."

"The starting point, the time spent, and the places we encounter on our journey to this borderland are not necessarily the same for each of us."

Those people we meet, the things that happen... they will live or perish because of the flapping of our 'butterfly' wings, and they will also slide into completely different abysses because of some tiny choice we make.

"What's even more interesting is... the fragments of our respective worlds float in the turbulent currents of this spacetime. So, some people who existed, struggled, and left their mark in your world... are with me—"

He shook his head slightly:
"Perhaps it was never born, or perhaps it has long since vanished."

Lu Mingfei was stunned:

"Then...wouldn't the world's trajectory be completely thrown into chaos?"

Natsuki Subaru said:

"That's the most amazing part. No matter how twisted or divergent the process may be, countless possibilities will eventually converge at the same point. It's as if some kind of destiny or force is maintaining the world."

Lu Mingfei fell silent. He subconsciously raised his hand, as if to rub his throbbing temples, but his fingertips touched the edge of his helmet.

"OK OK."

Just then, Natsuki Subaru, as if sensing his chaotic thoughts, raised his armored hand and slapped Lu Mingfei's shoulder armor hard, making a crisp "clang" sound. "That's enough of this nonsense."

He paused, shifted to a more comfortable position while carrying the greatsword, and gestured with his chin towards the north:

"I haven't been to the south of Galid, but I know the way to the north like the back of my hand. If you ride east for three or four days from here, you'll reach a place called Fort Pharos. There are dragons everywhere there, though they're not very big, but they're still dragons. I don't know if that meets your requirements."

"what!"

Lu Mingfei suddenly stood up:

"Finally some good news! What are we waiting for? Let's get going! I feel like mushrooms are growing out of the cracks in my armor from staying in this godforsaken place for too long!"

"No hurries."

Subaru's voice rang out slowly, his dead fish eyes darting around as if he were thinking about something.

"I remember this area. Mr. Lu, you should have obtained the Holy Grail Bottle by now, right?"

"Ah."

Lu Mingfei nodded and took out a golden bottle from his spatial storage:

"You mean this thing? I got it a long time ago."

The Elixir Grail is an artifact left behind by the priests—the alchemists—of the Golden Tree. The crystallized dewdrops take a long time to form, and their hidden power can be drawn out through this jar. Adding different crystallized dewdrops can produce various special effects.

But Lu Mingfei has had this bottle for so long, and along the way, he has never seen any crystallized dew drops; he has only heard about them from his friends.

Natsuki Subaru continued:
"Then you should know that there are basins at the base of the small golden trees in various border areas where crystallized dew drops collect, right?"

Lu Mingfei scratched his head:
"Ah, I've heard people talk about it, but I've never actually encountered it myself."

This person, of course, is Melina. As the proxy witch, she is actually a very competent one, knowing all sorts of information and secrets about the borderlands. Of course, that is, only if she is willing to tell them.

"etc."

Lu Mingfei instantly understood the meaning behind Natsuki Subaru's words, and his eyes widened suddenly:

"you mean"

Natsuki Subaru's lips slowly curved into a smile, and he nodded affirmatively.

"That's right, not far from the Church of the Smoked Flames, there stands a small golden tree. However, under that tree—"

He deliberately dragged out the tone:

"There's definitely a huge creature, supposedly the 'incarnation of the Golden Tree,' guarding it. There's no way we'll encounter any Crystal Dewdrops without killing it."

"And besides," Subaru grinned, a smile that looked utterly irritating, "because of the crimson corruption, the incarnations here have long been thoroughly corrupted and mutated, making them exceptionally difficult to deal with."

His shoulders, carrying the greatsword, shrugged slightly, black flames flickering at the hilt, and his dead fish eyes stared at Lu Mingfei:
"So, Mr. Lu, are you interested in... taking care of it?"

Lu Mingfei slapped his thigh:

"Damn! It's a fool not to take advantage of a good deal! With you here supporting us, we might as well push this boss over!"

With a whoosh, he drew his Storm Sword, its blade pointing straight to the sky. The light from the sword reflected on his grinning face, his tone brimming with the air of "If I don't go to hell, who will?"

“I see that the incarnation of the Golden Tree is disloyal and unfilial, and has already thrown itself into the embrace of the goddess of corruption! Today, you and I, brothers, will cleanse the Golden Tree of its corruption!”
