Chapter 136 Madness!
The golden tree's light still fell from afar, coldly, like a layer of gold leaf gilded on mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

Those demigods who sit on their thrones, those heroes who write epic legends, have their eyes ever lingered on this corner of purgatory for even a moment?
I'm afraid not.

In the grand game of chess, in the pursuit of the fragments of the Elden Ring, these residents of Moen City, these once vibrant lives, are nothing more than insignificant ants, dust mercilessly crushed by the wheels of war.

Their wails, their despair, even their deaths, are perhaps just the edge of a storm inadvertently stirred up by those high above, a tiny ripple, an insignificant impact... nothing more.

And what about mixed races?

They were branded as "blasphemous" and "defiled," despised and scorned, and relegated to the status of lowly slaves, forced to work day after day, suffering beatings and going hungry.
They were a pitiful race governed by the rules of the Golden Tree, victims, and an "inferior race." Perhaps driven to desperation, or perhaps instigated and manipulated, their anger ultimately transformed into a sharp blade, slashing at the innocent and guilty inhabitants.

The conflict between hybrids and humans has thus become an inextricable entanglement.

Lu Mingfei had never had such feelings before.

Anger, sorrow, sadness. He didn't understand what these feelings were, but in short, he had never longed to cut something so much.

This fucking world!

Although his rationality was shattered by the brutal scene before him, Lu Mingfei did not completely lose his composure; his repeated experiences of death strengthened his psychological resilience.

Hybrids are enemies we've never faced before.

They have above-average intelligence, can use weapons, possess wings, and may even be able to fly.

Superior to subhumans.

"There are too many of them; they're not easy to deal with."

Lu Mingfei murmured.

The number of hybrids in front of them was clearly not just a few; at the very least, their numbers were enough to launch a rebellion in an ancient city with considerable military strength, and succeed.

Despite the significant reduction in personnel, the remaining mixed-race individuals are still enough to give Lu Mingfei a run for his money.

"In that case."

He took a deep breath and, before the mixed-race people had fully noticed him, took out the summoning bell from his pocket and shook it gently.

Jingle Bell!
The crisp sound of bells rang out.

As the magic slowly dissipated, an invisible wind arose in the air, and the air currents became turbulent.

A semi-transparent gray figure rapidly condensed and solidified in the eye of the storm.

"Storm Wings" - Ingwell!
The knights under the Storm King, once renowned heroes who guarded the borders, answered Lu Mingfei's call.

The imposing figure of the Knight of Lost Homeland was fully revealed. Clad in armor of thorns and dragons, wielding an unstoppable halberd, he stood silently before Lu Mingfei, like a storm eagle with its wings folded.

The closest hybrids abruptly stopped biting, their ugly, blood-stained heads snapping up and turning towards the spirit knight who had appeared out of nowhere.
Their heavy breathing was mixed with uneasy growls; their animal instincts made them sense great danger.

"Come on, Uncle Master, please help me."

Lu Mingfei murmured to himself, raising the greatsword in both hands. The blade gleamed with a cold light, its sharpness fully revealed.

boom!
Ingwell moved!

The silent storm knight transformed into a gray hurricane, his sharp halberd sweeping out like a dragon's tail with a piercing shriek, furiously plundering the nearest bewildered hybrids! The turbulent air currents were drawn in, swirling around him as sharp as swords.

Poof! Click!
The hybrids' flesh, scales, and bones, far superior to those of humans, appeared laughable before Ingwell's absolute power. The two hybrids that were first hit didn't even have time to scream before their upper bodies were completely severed by Ingwell's overwhelming "Summoning Storm," exploding into a cloud of blood mist and bone fragments.

The chaos has escalated completely!

The other hybrids, drenched in the blood and entrails of their companions, let out a shrill and furious roar. More hybrids, drawn by the sudden attack and the smell of blood, gathered slowly toward Lu Mingfei and Ingwell, wielding their menacing machetes.

Lu Mingfei's pupils contracted slightly.

Too much.

As far as the eye could see, there were at least a dozen, and further away, shadowy figures swayed among the ruins.

The chaotic footsteps, flapping wings, and those unpleasant howls all rushed towards Lu Mingfei.

Ingwell remained silent, his hands firmly gripping the halberd, an invisible storm swirling and brewing around him, poised to strike.

Lu Mingfei took a deep breath, a burning sensation rising in his chest. He slightly bent his knees, lowered his center of gravity, held the greatsword diagonally to his sides, and looked ahead.

"bring it on."

He uttered two words softly.

The order was given immediately.

Ingwell's silent figure suddenly erupted with a thunderous aura! He did not rashly charge into the mixed race, but instead raised his left foot and slammed it hard onto the stone slab with the force of splitting mountains and shattering rocks!

thump—

A dull, loud bang, accompanied by a tremor in the air.

Centered on the spirit knight of the lost homeland, a visible, chaotic circular storm suddenly exploded!

Debris, dust, and severed limbs were instantly swept up and smashed in all directions! Wherever the storm passed, the first few hybrids were hit as if by a flying dragon, howling in agony as they were violently thrown away, their bones broken and tendons snapped!

He brandished his halberd like a war god, charging fiercely into the enemy ranks, completely forgetting about Lu Mingfei, as if he were born to fight.

Seeing Ingwell's frenzied fighting style, Lu Mingfei couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement.

He recalled some fragments of conversation the old knight had made about the Stormwings, about Oreg and Ingwell.

Oreg is skilled with two swords, loyal yet adaptable. He serves the Blessed King, but it is this adaptability that saves countless soldiers' lives in the brutal war.

Ingwell, wielding a halberd, was a man of few words, yet possessed an indomitable spirit. His fighting style was unrestrained and relentless. It was this stubborn refusal to bow down that allowed him to guard the long-gone, kingless city day after day, ultimately becoming a legendary hero of the frontier through solitude and perseverance.

The wild, almost suicidal charge before him seemed to exist solely for the battle itself, wielding his halberd to destroy everything in his path!
"This is just too outrageous!"

Lu Mingfei was secretly shocked and finally understood why Ingwell said his swordsmanship was "too crude"—he probably thought Lu Mingfei was crazy enough!
The knights of the Storm King's lineage fight like mad dogs! The old knight is one of them, and so is Ingwell.

Lu Mingfei was already curious about what the other Storm Wing, Oreg, looked like in battle.

I added a few more mixed-race individuals to Moen City, considering how many people have died—it's reasonable to have a bit more mixed-race people, right?
