Lu Mingfei, become the King of Elden!

Chapter 230 Magic Confrontation

Chapter 230 Magic Confrontation
Lu Mingfei sighed and immediately began exchanging magical blows with Xia Mi:

"Junior sister, you're wrong about that. If I were busy with countless affairs, would I have time to do something as trivial as tutoring you at the start of the school year? I would have already assigned it to my subordinates!"

Xia Mi's eyes widened, and she immediately retorted:
"Perhaps you, senior brother, are lusting after my good looks."

Lu Mingfei shook his head, immediately interrupting Xia Mi, his tone calm, as if a seasoned captain were reprimanding his sailors:

"Junior sister, you're wrong about that again. You came from the preparatory class, so you must know about the mixed-race circle. Putting everything else aside, the average appearance is guaranteed to be quite good; there are hardly any ugly ones. As your senior brother, I'm an S-rank; what haven't I seen?"

He crossed his arms, leaned back leisurely on the sofa, his gaze unfocused, as if lost in memories:

"Like the cool and crazy red-haired little witch, or the Russian blonde emotionless loli... sigh, they're all just fleeting moments."

Lu Mingfei's tone became somewhat irritating:

"You can go ask around on the Night Watchers forum later. I, your senior brother, have a fan club at school... and as for you, junior sister..."

His gaze casually swept over Xia Mi's slightly loose bathrobe, lingering for a mere fraction of a second on a certain flat area before he nonchalantly looked away and continued:
"You have great potential in all aspects, but at this stage... well... it's not to the point where I, your senior, would abandon my principles or use public office for private gain."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a soft sofa cushion whistled through the air and landed precisely on Lu Mingfei's face.

"Lu Mingfei! Go to hell!"

Xia Mi's cheeks puffed up like buns with anger, and her feigned gentleness vanished, leaving her looking like a cat with its fur standing on end.

She lunged forward to snatch back the pillow for a second attack.

Lu Mingfei smiled and raised his hand to block, his doubts temporarily lessened.

Sugar-coated bullets are not only sweet, but also quite energetic.

Under Xia Mi's pillow attack, Lu Mingfei had no choice but to raise his hands in surrender:

"Alright, alright, I'll go on a mission tomorrow, and when I get back I'll give you some back-to-school tutoring. Your senior has given you special mission funding, so you can go have some fun, okay?"

"That's pretty much it!"

Xia Mi immediately beamed and skipped off to find the hairdryer.

Lu Mingfei watched her retreating figure and shook his head helplessly.
-
Lu Mingfei opened his sleepy eyes.

He was awakened by the sound of Xia Mi getting up.

His sleep is very light, like a wolf in a daze, almost constantly maintaining subconscious monitoring of his surroundings. Any unusual disturbance can instantly pull him back to wakefulness.

This is a habit developed when we were at the border.

In border areas, physical fatigue can be recovered through various methods, but mental exhaustion is a real and tangible problem.

Therefore, he would occasionally take a light rest, similar to "meditation," in a safe place to allow his brain and body to recover to a minimum while retaining most of his perception and reaction abilities.

Xia Mi seemed to have finished washing up and was walking around the room barefoot, like a light cat.

She was humming an off-key tune as she rummaged through her suitcase for clothes to wear that day, holding the hotel notepad from yesterday in her hand, seemingly drawing something on it.

She moved very gently, clearly wanting him to sleep a little longer.

Lu Mingfei stared at her quietly for a few seconds, then mumbled something indistinctly, rubbed his eyes, and sat up from the bed.

"Ah, Senior Brother, you're awake?"

Xia Mi turned her head at the sound, and a bright, cheerful smile immediately bloomed on her face, a smile that seemed to dispel any drowsiness:
Did I disturb you?

"Hmm...it's alright."

Lu Mingfei yawned and stretched his stiff shoulders:

"I'm used to waking up early."

"It's getting late, lazy senior brother!"

Xia Mi gave a soft snort:
"It's almost noon! It seems you've been completely poisoned by capitalism."

"It's almost noon?!" Lu Mingfei sat up straight abruptly, took out his phone and saw that it was indeed eleven o'clock.

He also had an appointment to meet with Angers at midnight.

"Senior brother, you should wash up first!"

Xia Mi picked up the clothes she had chosen and skipped back into the bathroom.

She had already made plans for today's outing.

Looking at the bathroom door that had been closed again, the last trace of sleepiness in Lu Mingfei's eyes completely disappeared, and he also felt somewhat helpless.

Junior sister, what's the deal with you telling me to wash up while you're taking up the bathroom?
He had no choice but to change his clothes first.

Lu Mingfei rummaged through his suitcase, his fingers brushing over several old T-shirts with loose collars from washing and a hoodie with the StarCraft logo.

These are clearly not suitable options for meeting with the principal.

He muttered to himself, "I have to look presentable when I meet an old man," and finally pulled out a dark gray long-sleeved polo shirt that was folded fairly neatly from the bottom of the box.

It was a Ralph Lauren polo shirt with the classic pony logo embroidered on the left chest.

The clothes are new, the tags were just removed not long ago. They are remnants from the last time Finger bought a large quantity of Lu Mingfei's "used clothes". The material is a slightly thick cotton blend, which is perfect for Chicago's slightly cool early autumn.

Lu Mingfei picked up the clothes, shook them out, and compared them to himself in the mirror, his expression a little strange.

This outfit is pretty new, and it's not exactly formal either, but for some reason, wearing it makes me feel like I'm about to go to a golf course and become a caddie.

Fine, this will do. At least it's better than wearing a T-shirt to meet that old-fashioned gentleman.

He quickly changed his clothes; the dark gray clothes made his skin look a bit fairer and also slightly toned down his usual sleepy and lazy demeanor.

I had just straightened my clothes when the bathroom door opened.

Xia Mi came out after changing her clothes. She was wearing simple jeans and a short-sleeved T-shirt, looking refreshing and lively.

When she saw Lu Mingfei's outfit, her eyes lit up as if she had discovered a new continent. She circled around him, stroking her chin and clicking her tongue in amazement.

"Wow! Senior, are you going to a Wall Street elite summit? You suddenly look so impressive."

Lu Mingfei rolled his eyes at her, annoyed.
"Don't give me that. I really have to see the principal later, I can't just show up dressed like I'm from StarCraft, can I?"

"To see the principal?"

Xia Mi's curiosity was immediately piqued:
"Is that the legendary Principal Angers? Is he handsome? Is he fierce? Will he suddenly pull a knife out of his cane?"

"He's handsome, a real handsome older man. But is he fierce or not...?"

Lu Mingfei recalled Angers's always unfathomable eyes and mumbled:
"It depends on who you're dealing with. I do have knives, but I don't usually pull them out to cut students."

He checked the time; it was almost 11:30.

"I have to go now. What about you? Are you really planning to go out and have some fun by yourself?"

Lu Mingfei ruffled his hair a couple of times in front of the mirror as he asked. Although he'd provided "mission funding," letting a freshman wander around Chicago on his own seemed a bit irresponsible, didn't it?
"Alright, alright!"

Xia Mi waved her hand, as if to say, "Don't worry about me, I've got everything planned out! Senior brother, go ahead and do your work, don't worry about me!"

As she spoke, she picked up the hotel note with the drawing on it from the bedside table, carefully folded it, and stuffed it into her jeans pocket.

Seeing her enthusiastic expression, Lu Mingfei didn't say anything more, only offering a word of advice:
"Be careful, call me if anything happens."

"Got it! You keep up the good work, senior! Try to get as many benefits as possible from the principal!"

Xia Mi smiled and pushed him toward the door.

Lu Mingfei smiled helplessly, straightened the collar of the polo shirt that made him feel a little uncomfortable, took a deep breath, and walked towards the elevator.

Behind him, Xia Mi's smile faded slightly as she stared at Lu Mingfei's back without saying a word.
