Lu Mingfei, become the King of Elden!

Chapter 262 Can I really learn it?

Chapter 262 Can I really learn it?
Seren paused for a moment, then looked at Lu Mingfei with surprise.

Lu Mingfei immediately realized that his joke might have gone a little astray.

However, killing dozens of magicians was as easy as eating and drinking for Lu Mingfei.

In the town of Seria, the mages there repeatedly attacked him and O'Neill with Radiant Stone Shards, using methods of invisibility and reappearance, in order to prevent the invasion of outsiders.

Some of these people are clearly mentally sound, while others are difficult to communicate with.

But since they chose to attack instead of negotiate, they were in a state of hostility from the moment they stepped into the town.

So he and O'Neill massacred the place.

And this was just an ordinary day in his daily life.

This is the border area.

When you make the decision to kill, you must be prepared to be killed yourself.

Power is the only iron law.

“If it’s just killing a few dozen mages,” Lu Mingfei scratched his head, “then it’s acceptable.”

Serenity rested her chin on her slender fingers and looked at him with great interest:
"During my escape, I also killed many magicians and assassins who tried to hunt me, and conducted some experiments on their bodies."

“We touch taboos, we disregard rules, we pursue the power of origins, and failures and clearing out obstacles in the process are all unavoidable costs.”

“Now,” she asked, “knowing all this, do you still think this is just an ‘academic dispute’? Do you still dare to be interested in this path?”

Lu Mingfei shrugged.

It sounds quite similar to the creed of the Dragon Warriors.

"If you ask me whether I dare or not, then of course I dare."

but"

Lu Mingfei asked cautiously:

"I need to know what price I have to pay to learn your magic? Like, turning into your hood?"

He was genuinely curious about what it looked like under the hood.

Seren let out a magnetic laugh, as if she had been amused.

"...Ha, you're really strange. Don't worry, it's just a tool to help me explore magic."

"As for the price, my teaching will be very strict, not gentle. If you fear hardship or failure, it's not too late to leave now. As for the rest... you'll make your own judgment when you truly understand the essence of magic."

She paused, her tone regaining its calmness:
"So, have you thought it through?"

Lu Mingfei remained silent for a moment.

To become king, he certainly needs power, power in all its forms.

But this "heretic witch" before us seems to offer a new path.

“Okay,” he finally said, “I’m willing to learn. But I need to see what I can learn first.”

Seren nodded.

"A wise choice. Not making promises lightly, nor refusing rashly. So, let's just say you're an...apprentice for now."

“Well then,” Lu Mingfei took off his weapon and casually placed it beside him, then simply found a place to sit cross-legged, “what can you teach me, teacher?”

He found this new mentor-apprentice model quite novel. Compared to the old knight's strict and hellish training methods, Seren, this new magic teacher, was actually quite approachable.

Seren found her apprentice quite interesting, unlike any other borderland people she had ever met; he possessed qualities she couldn't quite put her finger on.

“Then,” Seren said with a smile, “my new apprentice, the first step you should take is ‘understanding’.”

She turned around, rummaged through the large pile of books, and finally pulled out a thin booklet, which she handed to Lu Mingfei.

Lu Mingfei took the book and glanced at the hastily written title.

"The Fundamentals of Glowstone Magic. Author: Seren?"

Lu Mingfei looked at the witch in front of him with suspicion.

The witch crossed her arms over her chest:

"What kind of look is that? That's right, I wrote it. Those old fogies at the magic academy know nothing but how to show off their knowledge. Their introductory textbooks are both obscure and difficult to understand, as if they're afraid apprentices won't be able to comprehend them."

She paused and continued:
"You are still an infant in the realm of magic, extremely immature, you can't even walk properly. However, only by recognizing your own immaturity can you become a magician..."

Let's begin the lesson. Don't worry, it won't take long. A magic apprentice can learn this in three days."
-
Soon, an afternoon had passed.

With a hint of existential doubt, Lu Mingfei looked up from his book and asked Serian with difficulty:
"Magic. Can I really learn it?"

Serlian's stone hood was tilted slightly to one side, as if he were scrutinizing Lu Mingfei's face, which was filled with confusion.

"What?" Her voice held a hint of amusement. "Feeling it's difficult? I've said before, recognizing your own immaturity is the first step."

Lu Mingfei raised his head, his eyes somewhat glazed over, pointing to a passage in the book about the "resonance between the internal magic of the radiance stone and the frequency of the spellcaster's will," his tone filled with despair:
"I recognize every single word, but what the hell is this all about? And this energy circuit diagram is even more complicated than the Storm Combat Technique! Three days? Three years and I still might not be able to figure it out!"

He originally thought magic was just chanting incantations and making gestures, maybe with a little mental guidance. Who knew that behind it was such a terrifying set of theories comparable to advanced physics and metaphysics!
When he was learning Storm Combat and Dragon Offering Prayer, he didn't study atmospheric dynamics and dragon ecology first!
Seren made a soft sound, which seemed to be a laugh.

"Ha...it seems I overestimated your intelligence, apprentice."

She walked to Lu Mingfei's side, her slender fingers tapping on the page of the book:

"Your magical talent is pitifully small, and it's almost impossible for you to control your magic. Only by understanding these things can you possibly unleash magic."

Does that mean I'm too incompetent to learn?

Lu Mingfei scratched his head.

"Learning magic is not just about aptitude."

Seren said:

"Theory is not only a ladder to a deeper level, but also a cornerstone to help those who are not qualified."

"Your talent is insufficient; you must resort to theory."

She stretched out her hand, palm up. A luminous stone emitting a soft blue light had appeared in her hand without her noticing.

"First, you need to learn how to sense the power within the radiance stone, and how to guide it with your will, releasing it in a specific 'form'. This 'form' is magic."

"Feel the gathering of energy, the construction of form, and... the intention to release."

“Watch closely, apprentice. Think about the theories you’ve read, and try to understand them with your ‘mind.’”

With a flick of his wrist, Seren shot out the Radiant Stone Magic Pellet, which struck an empty stone jar in the corner of the cellar, shattering it into pieces before its magic dissipated into the air.
