Chapter 344 Three in the Morning
Three o'clock in the morning.

Zero looked at the phone that had just been hung up, gently turned off the screen, picked up the teddy bear from beside the bed, found the suitcase in the room, and carefully put it inside.

The suitcase is made of a very special material that can withstand most impacts.

Judging from its age, this bear is quite old, over twenty years old. It has accompanied her to many places, and even now she still sleeps with it at night. This bear gives her an inexplicable sense of security.

The bear's name is Zorro.

Zero felt the tremors beneath his feet and wondered if the reinforced concrete dormitory could hold up. He then calculated the location and placed the box in the corner of the room.

Her original mission was to rescue Mai Shutoku, who had ventured into dangerous territory.

Now, Mai has sent word that she has safely escaped from underground, which puts her mind at ease.

However, the tremors beneath their feet did not stop; instead, they became even more violent, indicating that the battle was not over and was even escalating.

Zero stood still, his golden eyes showing no panic, only a computer-like deliberation and calculation.

After a brief silence, she made a decision.

She walked to the bedside, bent down, and pulled another suitcase from the shadows under the bed. This suitcase was completely different from the one that carried Zorro; it was made entirely of matte black metal, with sharp lines and no superfluous decorations.

Kassel College, an institution of higher learning that appears on the surface no different from Ivy League schools, possesses an unexpectedly high degree of tolerance in its management.

It does not deliberately check students' personal belongings.

Despite its deep military background and history, today, at least on the surface, it is not much different from a normal university.

Of course, this assumes that courses involving "dragon genealogy" and "alchemy chemistry" are ignored, as well as the various "personal items" that students might hide under their beds that would instantly put the security department of an ordinary university on the highest alert.

Zero skillfully entered the password, and with a slight thud, the weapon case's latch popped open.

Suddenly, a violent tremor came from underground, as if a primordial beast was charging wildly.

The dormitory walls groaned as a thin crack instantly spread from the corner to the ceiling.

A flurry of wall plaster and tiny cement fragments fell from overhead, raising a cloud of dust in the dimly lit room.

Zero lowered her eyes and reacted quickly by turning her body to the side, dodging the attack with a nimble movement. Her calm demeanor made it seem less like she was in danger and more like she was performing a spin in a dance studio.

Before the dust had even settled, her movements didn't falter. She reached into the open weapons case and first retrieved two simple, sleek straight swords. The blades were a matte dark gray, seemingly absorbing all the surrounding light, with only a faint chill emanating from the edge. Without even glancing at them, she flicked her wrists, and the two swords were precisely inserted into the specially designed crossed scabbards on her tactical vest, fitting perfectly.

Next, she took out several magazines that were packed full. The bullets inside the magazines had a dark red sheen, and the bullet tips were engraved with tiny alchemical matrices.

These are expensive, specially made alchemical bullets designed to combat dragons and Deadpool.

With dazzling speed, she inserted the magazines one by one into the magazine pouch on the chest of her tactical vest, making a crisp "click" sound.

After doing all this, she deftly took off her Kassel College uniform jacket, revealing the black tight-fitting combat suit she had already put on underneath. Then she put on the same matte black tactical vest over it, tightened the straps, and adjusted it to fit her body perfectly.

Finally, she put her school uniform jacket back on, zipping it up to her collarbone. Apart from looking slightly bulky, she looked no different from any other student rushing to evening self-study.

She quietly pushed open the dormitory door, like an ink droplet dissolving into water, silently slipping into the darkness of the corridor. The situation outside was just as she had expected.

Despite the violent tremors, very few students came out to take refuge. Occasionally, a few sleepy-eyed students would peek out from under the door, mutter a few complaints, and then shrink back inside.

Students at Kassel College are already used to this.

"A small earthquake every three days, a big earthquake every five days"—this is almost a consensus on campus.

Everyone naturally assumed that this was just another commotion caused by those crazy guys in the Equipment Department tinkering with some new "gadget" in the underground lab.

After all, the explosion caused by their last test of the new fuel almost blew the roof off Valhalla; by comparison, this crack in the wall was a mild "reminder."

Zero's golden eyes gleamed faintly in the darkness. Her steps were light and swift, her direction clear, following the core source of the vibration.

She doesn't need to worry about being caught on camera, because someone had already turned off some of Norma's defenses.

An unprecedented and violent tremor suddenly struck; it was a true earthquake!

It was as if, deep within the earth, something had used its power over the land and mountains to trigger a localized earthquake.

The ground beneath our feet undulated like waves, and the dormitory building creaked with a sense of despair.

More cracks spread wildly across the walls and floor like a spider web, and the chandelier on the ceiling swung wildly, eventually breaking free and crashing down with wires and plaster fragments.

Rumbling--

With a deafening crash as the building collapsed, panic swept through the entire dormitory area like a plague.

The students, who had previously only complained, now truly felt a deadly threat.

The door was suddenly kicked open, and a panicked flow of people rushed out of the rooms like a flood bursting its banks.

The scene was chaotic. Most of the boys were only wearing underwear, and some were even barefoot; the girls were in even more different situations, some were only wrapped in bed sheets in their haste, some were wearing pajamas, and some of the more outgoing ones ran out in their underwear, not caring about being shy at the moment.

Screams, urging voices, and the rumbling of collapsing buildings mingled together, creating an apocalyptic symphony.

The side of an older dormitory building was shaking violently, with its exterior walls peeling off and collapsing like building blocks, kicking up clouds of dust.

Zero steadied itself on the undulating ground.

She quickened her pace, nimbly weaving through the fallen building debris and billowing dust, finally arriving at the entrance to the core underground area—the ice cellar.

However, the entrance was completely destroyed, and the sturdy alloy gate was twisted and deformed.

The elevator that Mai Shude had previously used to escape has now completely stopped working, with all its indicator lights off, blocking the way to the underground.

After the final, earth-shattering impact, the underground activity fell into an eerie stillness, like a brief respite after a fierce battle, or the calm before the storm.

This silence was more unsettling than the previous roar.
