Lu Mingfei, become the King of Elden!

Chapter 369: A $5 Bet is S-Rank

Chapter 369: A Five-Dollar Bet is S-Rank

Angers paused for a moment, then asked:

"Who do you think it could be?"

"That alchemical corpse guardian is clearly a second-generation species of the Ocean and Water King lineage."

Lu Mingfei paused here:
"But I think we can rule out the King of the Ocean and the King of Water first. With the pride of the Dragon King, they would not refine their subjects into such ugly things."

Angers nodded slightly, clearly agreeing with Lu Mingfei's analysis.

"Of the four monarchs on the throne, the Lord of the Ocean and Water is the most mysterious, and these twins rarely appear in history. In contrast, the Lord of Bronze and Fire is very active, followed by the Lord of Earth and Mountains, and the Lord of Sky and Wind."

The brothers, the Kings of Bronze and Fire, are confirmed dead. The previous incidents at the train station and the amusement park with colorful flags both showed signs resembling those of the Kings of Earth and Mountains, including the theft of the Dragon Bone Cross. Could it be them?

"No... I don't think so."

Lu Mingfei shook his head. He recalled the corpse of the next generation that had been twisted by alchemy, as well as the large number of Dead Servants, and the names "Valkyrie" and "Heroic Spirit" that Lu Mingze had mentioned.

He carefully considered his words, thinking about how to tell Angers tactfully.

Do you know Odin?

Lu Mingfei looked deeply at Angers, his gaze calm.

"Odin."

Upon hearing this name, Angers showed no surprise, simply nodding and saying:

"I know that you and our dear current Lionheart President, Chu Zihang, have been investigating it, haven't you?"

Lu Mingfei felt a slight chill, but quickly understood—at Kassel College, especially in front of this cunning old fox who had lived for over a century, it was indeed unrealistic to completely hide anything. His investigation into Odin using the college's records must have already been on the principal's desk.

Since that's the case, let's be open and honest.

“Yes.” Lu Mingfei met Angers’ gaze, no longer hiding his suspicion. “I suspect it is Odin. I’m certain that he is no ordinary second-generation being, but most likely a… Dragon King.”

He sat up a little straighter:
"Those alchemical dead servants that seemed to be mass-produced on an assembly line, that twisted and manipulated second-generation corpse, that land of the dead, plus this ambush and attempt to capture me that was clearly aimed at me personally..."

Lu Mingfei's voice deepened, carrying a guiding force, as he stared intently into Angers' unfathomable eyes:
"Principal, when all these elements are put together, don't you feel... a sense of déjà vu?"

Angers fell silent.

For a moment, only the faint sound of the wind outside the window and the regular ticking of the medical instruments could be heard in the ward.

He was certainly familiar with the Norse myths about the Valkyries and Valhalla. In those tales, Odin, the chief god, sent his Valkyries to the battlefields of the mortal realm to select the bravest fallen warriors and bring their souls back to Asgard, where they would feast in Valhalla, gathering strength for the final battle, Ragnarok.

Gather powerful hybrids, modify them using alchemy, bestow upon them mythical names, and assemble a loyal, immortal army...

Angers remained silent for a full half minute, his fingertips tapping lightly on his suit trousers, as if playing a silent requiem.

"Understood." He stood up, his movements still elegant, but a shadow of gloom hung over his brow. "I'll have a good talk with our vice principal. As for these details, once you've fully recovered, compile them into a formal report and submit it to me."

He walked towards the door, grasped the doorknob, but then stopped, as if suddenly remembering something, turning half his face to the side. The afternoon light cast a deep shadow on his sharply defined profile.

"There's one last thing, Mingfei."

Lu Mingfei looked up.

Angers' voice was soft, yet carried a hint of chill.

"Of the current seven board members, excluding myself and that one who never shows his face, who do you think is among the remaining five families," he paused slightly, a cold light flashing in his golden eyes, "who could it be?"

Lu Mingfei was stunned, unable to react for a moment. What did he mean... who could it be?

Immediately, a chilling thought darted into his mind like a venomous snake, almost making him jump out of his hospital bed!

He suddenly looked at Angers.

Angers... was asking him which of the remaining five board members and the ancient families behind them was the hidden dragon king? Or rather, which family had the deepest connection with the dragon king?

So, he thought so too?

Kassel afternoons always carry a certain unreal tranquility, like a deliberately maintained illusion after a storm. The freshly painted exterior of the dormitory building gleams incongruously white in the sunlight, like a modern patch on medieval armor.

Students carrying heavy books strolled along the tree-lined paths, and occasionally a guy in a tactical vest would run by carrying a sniper rifle model—in this academy, you could never tell which was performance art and which was actual combat training.

Until the explosion shattered the silence.

"boom--!"

The small building in the northwest corner, covered with ivy, trembled violently, thick smoke billowed from the second-floor windows, and shards of glass rained down like diamonds.

A few oak leaves drifted slowly down and landed on the shoulders of freshmen who were on their way to the library.

Strangely, no one panicked at all.

The bespectacled girl holding "Dragon Genetics" simply adjusted her glasses and sighed to her companion:

"This is the seventh time this month. Those lunatics in the equipment department."

“Five dollars, it’s an S-grade.” The blond boy next to her took out his phone and started placing a bet. “I heard he took away three pounds of mercury crystal powder yesterday.”

Just then, the blackened oak door creaked open.

Lu Mingfei stumbled out, his robes transformed into an abstract art piece, drenched in various viscous liquids. The tuft of hair on his head stubbornly stuck out, like a dandelion that had survived a nuclear explosion.

"Cough cough. Damn it."

He exhaled the sulfurous taste from his mouth and found a half-piece of metal still stuck in his palm.

This reminded him of the vice principal's warning—"If you dare to blow up my collection again, I'll stuff you into the Alchemy Matrix as a catalyst."

It still exploded.

Lu Mingfei scratched his head and pried off one-twentieth of the alchemical tool worth $100,000 from his palm.

The piercing sirens grew louder as they approached. Two black vans came to a stop, their tails swaying, and as the doors slid open, school staff in fireproof suits filed out.

Their movements were synchronized and practiced: setting up warning lines, installing exhaust fans, and spraying neutralizing agents were all done smoothly and efficiently, clearly a process that had become muscle memory.

The team leader lifted his mask, revealing a weathered face.

“Commissioner Lu,” he said expertly, handing over a damp towel, “do you need to go to the school hospital for pollution screening and a routine physical examination?”

Lu Mingfei waved his hand, took the towel, wiped his face, and casually asked:

"You guys have been working really fast lately. Which department are you from?"

The team leader handed him the credentials and gave him a thumbs up.

Accident Response Team 7 - Level S (Specialist)

Goodness, even the school's public affairs department set up a special team for him.
