Chapter 10, Day 3 Settlement
Chapter 10, Day 3 Settlement
The door opened a crack.
Xie Jun poked his head out from inside, glanced warily at the half-closed house across the way, and then looked at Wang Xiaoli beside him.
He grinned and whispered in Wang Xiaoli's ear, "Well done, I'll reward you properly later."
He turned around and waved to those behind him, "Dazhuang, come here."
"Big Brother." Da Zhuang walked over, took one of the two machetes in his hand, and handed it to Xie Jun.
Xie Jun walked to the door, looked at the dimly lit room, and asked in confusion, "Why are the curtains closed?"
Wang Xiaoli said in a low voice, "They closed the curtains before they went to bed, saying they were afraid that birds would hit the glass in the middle of the night. I was afraid that closing the curtains would be too noisy and wake them up, so I didn't open them."
Xie Jun instructed her, "Go and open the curtains a little, and keep it quiet."
Wang Xiaoli walked over and gently pulled back the living room curtains.
The dim moonlight shone into the living room. Xie Jun first carefully surveyed the room. The room was open and there was nowhere to hide.
Then he waved to his younger brother to follow him.
Xie Jun lowered his voice, "Which room?"
Wang Xiaoli pointed to the room that Qin Ziwen had arranged in advance.
Xie Jun waved his hand behind him and walked to the door with his younger brother.
The two exchanged a glance. Xie Jun gestured for Xie Guang to go first.
Xie Guang turned the doorknob and pushed it in.
The curtains were drawn in the room, but you could vaguely see the outline of a bulge on the bed, and hear the long, drawn-out snoring.
Xie Guang took a step forward, and suddenly felt as if he stepped on something.
"Whoosh-"
The rope was tightened and tied around his calves.
Bang!
Caught off guard, Xie Guang stumbled and fell.
The wardrobe next to him opened, and Qin Ziwen strode forward, raising his spear to stab. It was dark and he couldn't see clearly, but he stabbed the upper body of the fallen man several times, causing the man to wail and scream in agony.
He then decisively raised his spear and thrust it towards the narrow bedroom door.
Xie Jun was stunned for a moment after hearing his cousin's scream, then realized that he had fallen into a trap. That bitch Wang Xiaoli had betrayed him!
Looking back, the door to another bedroom diagonally behind her slammed shut with a snap, the bolt locked from the inside, and Wang Xiaoli hid in that other room.
He cursed under his breath and was about to step forward when a spear came thrusting at him. He tried to dodge, but there was a door right next to him, and the space was narrow. He was stabbed in the shoulder, and the pain made him gasp.
Before he could react, the snoring on the bed stopped abruptly. Qin Ziwu rolled over, jumped up, and slashed at the head of the man on the ground.
His hand went a little weak during the first cut, but the second cut, fueled by a surge of adrenaline, came down heavily, splattering blood all over his face.
Then Qin Ziwu quickly stepped back and stood next to his brother. The two of them stared at Xie Jun with fierce eyes, but Qin Ziwu caught a glimpse of the machete that had fallen to the ground out of the corner of his eye, and his eyes flickered.
Xie Jun glanced at his cousin, who was lying on the ground groaning, his face turning grim. He slowly backed away, carrying his machete.
"Brother, I admit defeat this time. We'll run into each other again eventually, there's no need to fight to the death. I have a knife, if you insist on coming, I'll take one of you with me even if I die!"
Qin Ziwen was too lazy to waste words with him and simply thrust out with his spear.
They've already gone all out; what's the point of all this whining if they don't eliminate the root of the problem?
Xie Jun swung his knife, deflecting the clothesline pole, and the knife tip pierced his shoulder.
A fierce glint flashed in Xie Jun's eyes. He grabbed the clothesline pole with his left hand to prevent it from being pulled back. As the two struggled, he leaned forward and was suddenly met with a gust of wind from a blade.
He instinctively swung his knife to defend himself.
"Keng!"
A powerful force jolted his arm numb.
Qin Ziwu laughed loudly, "Your knives are really useful, die!"
The half-meter-long machete was like an axe in Qin Ziwu's hands, and he swung it down on Xie Jun's head with reckless abandon.
Just hearing the whistling wind from the blades sent chills down his spine.
With each strike, Xie Jun's arms went weak, and he almost couldn't hold the knife.
That guy is incredibly strong.
The thought had just popped into his head.
His left hand loosened its grip, the clothesline pole was pulled back, the blade sliced across his palm, and before he could even feel the pain, the pole was upon him again. "Oh no."
A sharp pain shot through my eyes, my head snapped back, and I felt dizzy.
He felt something sharp pierce his eye; it was cold and chilling, and it almost made him lose consciousness.
Xie Jun crashed into the wall with a thud and slowly slid down along it.
"puff."
Qin Ziwen stirred the clothesline and pushed it in hard again.
Only when Xie Jun released his right hand and the machete fell to the ground did he pull back his spear.
The battle ended, and an indescribable emotion swept over me.
Qin Ziwu stared blankly back and forth at the two motionless figures on the ground.
Qin Ziwen's heart was racing, and he clutched his chest.
"Knock, knock, knock." He knocked on the tightly closed bedroom door. "Alright, it's over. You can come out now."
There was no movement in the bedroom.
Wang Xiaoli might be scared.
Qin Ziwen's voice was low and deep, "Come out, I don't want to say it a second time."
"clatter."
The bedroom door was unlocked from the inside.
Wang Xiaoli opened the door, her head bowed, her body trembling, and glanced fearfully at the two corpses on the ground.
In her heart, Xie Jun and Xie Guang were not to be trifled with.
The Qin brothers, who were able to kill these two men, held a position in her heart that was equal to, or even higher than, that of Xie Jun's cousins.
In a bloodthirsty frenzy, Qin Ziwu suddenly asked his elder brother, "Brother?"
Qin Ziwen said, "Let her go. I am a man of my word. She did what she promised me, and I will do what I promised her."
Qin Ziwu paused for a moment, then nodded: "Huh? Oh."
Qin Ziwu shouted impatiently, "Get lost!"
Wang Xiaoli quickly fled without looking back, fearing that the two would change their minds.
Hearing the commotion outside the stairs, Old Deng came down carrying his things and cautiously peered into the house.
Wang Xiaoli nearly bumped into him as she ran out, letting out a scream in fright.
Qin Ziwen and his brother dragged the corpse out and were somewhat surprised to see Old Deng outside the door. "Old Deng?"
Old Deng looked at Xie Jun being carried out. Because it was dark, he couldn't see Xie Jun's face clearly. "I heard a noise just now and thought something might have happened to you, so I came down to check on you."
Qin Ziwen said with a smile, "The Xie brothers heard that I got my hands on some meat and tried to break into my house tonight to rob me, but I was able to defend myself."
There were screams and wails just now, and it was impossible to hide it from anyone on this quiet night, so he didn't bother to hide it. It just so happened that Old Deng was there as a witness.
Old Deng was somewhat shocked, but he quickly understood that the current situation was different from before. He looked at the Xie brothers' bodies with a complicated expression, thought for a moment, and then rolled up his sleeves. "I'll help you carry them."
With Lao Deng's help, the three of them quickly carried the two bodies downstairs.
The best solution would naturally be to dig a hole and bury the two of them, but digging a large enough hole to hold two people would be too strenuous, and there were no tools available.
It wasn't worth wasting so much energy on those two scumbags, so they just dumped them outside the south gate of the residential area. The three of them didn't go out; the wilderness at night is more dangerous than during the day.
After working for a while, Old Deng wiped his hands and said, "My family is planning to smoke the meat tomorrow, do you want to come along?"
Qin Ziwen readily agreed, "Sure, let's do it together tomorrow. What time do you guys get up?"
"It was supposed to be six o'clock, but after this happened, I'll sleep a little longer and make it seven o'clock."
When I got home, there was still a faint smell of rust in the house.
Qin Ziwen found a piece of clothing he wasn't wearing and quickly wiped up the bloodstains on the floor.
It was soon midnight.
"You have successfully survived in the wilderness for three days. Your team hunted a crocodile, and you were allocated some raw meat. Human nature is more terrifying than wild beasts; someone tried to attack you, but you successfully used a trap to kill them. Overall score: 32 points"
