Chapter 113 Raiding the Lair (Third Update)
Furnace Bunker?

Just from the name, it sounds like a magnificent and grand building.

It is estimated that the area it occupies will not be small.

An ordinary building cannot be called a bunker.

After removing the card, Qin Ziwen took the flashlight and shone it around the area.

The cave is somewhat gourd-shaped, with a narrow entrance that gradually widens inside. But at the depths, there is another narrow opening, and from the light of the flashlight, it appears that behind this new opening lies another hidden world.

The ground was covered with shallow water, and the further you went in, the lower the terrain became.

Upon reaching the small entrance deep inside the cave, Qin Ziwen discovered that although the entrance was small, this "small" was relative; it was only smaller than the outermost cave entrance, and was actually four or five meters high and nearly ten meters wide.

"Sir, there are signs of friction here." Du Yu noticed something amiss. There were some freshly worn marks on the rock wall at the edge of the cave, and some new small pieces of gravel on the ground.

This cave looks like it has been newly expanded.

Considering the giant toad's size, it's not hard to imagine that when it came out, it scraped against the wall, widening the entrance to the hole.

There was a layer of accumulated water on the ground, which flowed into the space inside through the sunken entrance. As the flashlight shone, a shallow pool came into view.

There were even some fish swimming in the pool, which seemed to be unaccustomed to the strong light.

It flicked its tail and quickly hid deeper into the cave.

These streams accumulated in the depths, and over time, they formed this shallow pool.

To the right of this cave hall, the terrain gradually rises to a higher platform.

At the edge of the platform, there were some mushrooms that looked like stones.

Behind the platform, a two-meter-tall sapling grew out of a crack in the rocks.

Although the tree is not tall, its diameter is large enough for one person to hug. There are few branches at the top of the trunk, only a few thick branches sticking out diagonally about 1.5 meters from the ground, with a few palm-sized leaves hanging sparsely on the branches.

First, I used a flashlight to carefully observe the surroundings and confirmed that there were no other living creatures besides a few fish in the water.

Qin Ziwen climbed up the stone platform on the right.

The stone platform was very clean, with a large area in the middle that was almost free of dust. By referring to the outline of this dust-free area, one could roughly identify the outline of its "owner".

It seems this is where the ancient giant toad in the stone cave used to live.

Although resources are scarce here, the environment meets the habitat standards of the giant toad in the stone cave.

Moreover, the older they get, the more they prefer to hibernate; this giant toad probably spends most of the year in hibernation.

Qin Ziwen first came to the stone platform and looked at these grayish-brown mushrooms. They looked like mushrooms carved from stone. "These should be stone mushrooms."

According to the illustrated guide, rock mushrooms are plump and full in appearance, with a rubbery texture that is difficult to chew, inedible, and poisonous.

Could this be the reason why giant toads have become so large?

Qin Ziwen thought for a moment, took out a nylon bag from his backpack, shook it, and then collected some stone mushrooms through the bag.

"Sir, there are bite marks here."

Qin Ziwen looked in the direction Du Yu pointed.

Behind the hidden branches of the tree growing out of the crack in the wall, there was a small section of fruit stalk.

The lower end of the fruit stem is empty; there should have been something there before.

Judging from the broken part of the fruit stem, the crack is very fresh, indicating that it was recently torn off.

Qin Ziwen pondered for a moment, "It must have been eaten by this toad. I remember toads don't eat fruit, right?"

Qin Ziwu clapped his hands. "A toad that doesn't eat fruit has eaten something from this tree. That means it's attracted to this thing. Brother, maybe it's living here because of this tree."

He became more and more excited as he spoke, "I suspect this might be the 'heavenly treasure' it's guarding!"

If it were the old Qin Ziwen, he would have scoffed at such a claim. But now that he's transmigrated and this obviously mutated giant creature has appeared, he's analyzing it word by word. After circling the tree, perhaps it's just his imagination, but the more he looks, the more he feels it's something extraordinary.

The bark, the leaves, the roots.

Qin Ziwen decisively said, "Dig!"

"It seems we didn't bring a shovel."

Qin Ziwen said without hesitation, "Then cut it down. Cut off the roots and take it with you."

That giant toad might come back at any time. If we don't dig it up now, we might not have the chance to do so later.

Even if it can't be transplanted, the plant itself might still be useful.

Even dead ginseng has medicinal properties.

The three of them got to work quickly and efficiently.

Pull out the tree roots that can be pulled out, and cut down the ones that cannot.

After working for more than half an hour, we finally managed to move the tree out.

Its roots are extremely exaggerated, dense and extending into the cracks in the rocks.

But now only the roots remain, and the three of them worked together to carry the tree away.

Upon exiting the cave, Li Tieshan was shocked to see the adults carrying out a tree.

Is this a tree that was dug out of a cave?

However, this tree looks quite nice.

Although not tall, the bark is pale yellow in the sunlight and has a smooth texture, reflecting a fine, dusty luster.

Li Tieshan tapped the tree trunk lightly with his fingers; the sound was dull, indicating that the tree's density must be quite high.

Four people carried the tree down the mountain.

When we arrived outside the residential area around 4 o'clock, the mayfly swarms above the residential area were no longer visible, but they were still dancing in the sky above the river in the distance.

Their dancing and mating rhythm continues for three days.

Upon entering the residential area, the sight of four people carrying a tree, though somewhat unusual, did not attract much attention.

After all, the news that the community would be transported to another location had spread throughout the entire community. Although it was unknown where the next time they would be transported, everyone's willingness to collect supplies had clearly increased in the past few days.

Some people were digging soil, some were storing water, and others were carrying various plants into their homes.

Qin Ziwen felt a little guilty as he entered the residential area; he had essentially raided the lair of the giant toad in the stone cave.

This giant toad is right by the river. If it finds us, the consequences could be quite serious.

Fortunately, the journey was uneventful, and the tree was safely carried home.

After carrying the tree seedlings home, Qin Ziwen immediately planted them in the farmland.

Considering that this tree used to grow in a crack in the rock, perhaps that kind of environment was what it preferred.

So he went to the quarry and brought over several large stones, piling them up nearby to resemble a rocky wasteland, and placed some of the tree's remaining roots in the cracks between the stones.

I watered the roots again.

After finishing all this, Qin Ziwen clapped his hands, put his hands on his hips, and expressed his satisfaction with his hands-on skills.

Qian Muzhen heard that the tree was found by adults in the giant toad's nest, so he came to see what was going on. He went up and sniffed it. "It has a pleasant fragrance. This tree may be used as some kind of medicinal herb."

More will follow later, here are three chapters for now.
