Chapter 156 Duck-billed Dragon (Bonus Chapter, Please Vote!)
A herd of brown dragons walked silently across the Gobi Desert.

Like small hills.

It has a large body, a broad chest, a flat beak, and an extremely thick tail that sways slightly as it walks, reaching nearly half the length of its body.

"So this is a hadrosaur? I think I understand now why it's a level two hunting target." Yuan Ming's eyes were filled with shock.

These hadrosaurs are enormous; they must be a group, with adult individuals reaching over ten meters in length.

"Hafe-billed dinosaurs aren't medium to large dinosaurs, this is huge!" Qin Ziwu was somewhat shocked.

A level two hunting mission means they have to kill five dinosaurs of this caliber?
If they rush over and get stepped on, they'll be covered in bruises.

Wang Jun's eyes darkened. "Hafe-billed dinosaurs are actually a family of dinosaurs, just like lizards. The smaller ones may be only the size of a palm, while the larger ones may be like the Komodo dragon. The size difference is huge."

His eyes lit up as he noticed two raised sections on the left and right sides of the hadrosaurs' backs. These raised sections resembled camel humps and might have served to store water.

The herd of hadrosaurs slowly moved eastward. One of the adult individuals turned its head and glanced casually in their direction before turning back. Their pace remained steady and determined as they continued forward.

Qin Ziwen joked, "Li Yue, the formidable opponent you've been looking for has arrived."

Li Yue forced a smile, "Brother Qin, you'll help me collect my body, right?"

Qin Ziwen nodded: "Yes, I will use a shovel to dig it out for you."

Looking at the passing herd of duck-billed dinosaurs, Qin Ziwen felt a little envious; this was the target of the second-level quest in the Hunting Ladder.

But they are not opponents they can deal with at this stage.

At the same time, Qin Ziwen also thought of something: hunting an adult hadrosaur requires 5, while hunting a giant desert worm only requires 3.

Even a fool could guess that a giant desert worm is far more terrifying than an adult hadrosaur.

What about the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which can be completed with just one?

We need to get the vehicle-mounted crossbow done as soon as possible, otherwise we'll lack an effective means of attacking this giant creature.

"My lord, these giant beasts may be migrating. There should be food and water available to them in the east."

"Could the oasis be the source of their food and water?" Qin Ziwen thought of this possibility.

Zhao Pu said, "It's possible. They must have lived here for many years and know their surroundings better than we do."

The Gobi Desert is such a barren place that it's already at its limit to be able to support giant hyenas. To support such a large herd of hadrosaurs, even feeding them all the saxaul trees within a radius of several kilometers wouldn't be enough.

The only possibility is that there is an oasis in this Gobi Desert that is enough for them to survive and live in.

Qin Ziwen was somewhat tempted; if he could find out the location of the nearest oasis, it would be excellent intelligence.

Summoning the harpy eagle that was bullying the one-clawed dragon, Qin Ziwen patted its head and pointed at the group of hadrosaurs. "Later, when you fly into the sky, remember the direction they left in."

Seeing the harpy eagle eager to take off, Qin Ziwen stopped it, saying, "Wait until they're a little further away before you fly over. It's too hot here; you can't fly for long."

It's unclear whether the harpy eagle understood, but it stopped flying after Qin Ziwen spoke.

From behind, Wei Zhaohua suddenly shouted excitedly, "Captain Qin, there are several clumps of bushes here that look a bit like white thorn berries."

Wei Zhaohua volunteered to come out with the team this time, mainly because he wanted to see what common edible plants were in the vicinity.

"Let me see." Qin Ziwu walked over and found a few scattered dark red fruits on the bushes.

"Hmm, they must have been eaten by these single-clawed dragons, otherwise there wouldn't be so few white thorn fruits. Look here, there are bite marks." Wei Zhaohua squatted down and pointed to one section. "If they could eat them, it at least means that the native white thorn fruits here are not highly poisonous." Wei Zhaohua tried to dig, but quickly gave up.

The roots of this white thorn are very long, and the lateral roots are also extremely developed, spreading in all directions, and are very tough.

If the roots are forcibly cut off and transplanted, the transplanted white thorn will hardly survive. It is its well-developed root system that allows it to survive in such an arid environment.

Qin Ziwen surveyed the surroundings. In terms of concealment, the location of this altar was relatively well hidden; at least to find it, one would first have to cross this great rift valley.

It shouldn't be discovered in a short time.

Qin Ziwen examined the remaining one-clawed dragons. The closest one to him was digging in the soil. They dug into the ground and poked their heads in, as if they were eating something.

"What is this little bean sprout eating?" Qin Ziwen walked over and picked up the single-clawed dragon cub.

The mother dragon beside her chirped incessantly upon seeing this.

The mother unicorn dragon only stopped calling after Qin Ziwen threw the cub back.

After observing for a while, Qin Ziwen realized that the place where the one-clawed dragon's head had poked into was a pit. There were no plants in it, only some ants the size of soybeans. This thing actually ate ants.

"So, after we leave, will these one-clawed dragons leave, or will they stay here?"

Wang Jun pondered, "The Gobi Desert is resource-poor, so I might continue to stay here."

After thinking it over, Qin Ziwen decided not to kill them all, otherwise he would just have to pickle them back home anyway.

In this hot weather, eating cured meat all the time is too salty.

A group of people picked up the already slaughtered one-clawed dragons, took out ropes from their bags, tied them to their tails, strung them together into several large bunches, and then carried them back home on sticks.

We passed by a small puddle at the bottom of the rift valley and found that it was not very big, but it was close to the cliff and the water was very shallow.

At the corner of the cliff, there were subtle ripples. Qin Ziwen, who had been to a first-level spring, knew this all too well. There was no wind, yet the water was moving, indicating that there was a water source at the bottom. Perhaps there was an underground river at the bottom of this rift valley.

He reached out and gently touched the water; it was icy cold, which further confirmed his suspicions.

“This is a stable water source, although the amount is small and not enough for the entire community, but it can indeed provide a stable supply of groundwater.” Qin Ziwen stood up.

On the way back to the community, he sent the harpy eagle into the sky to scout the movements of the group of hadrosaurs.

As we returned to the south gate of the residential area, the eagle landed from the sky behind us.

It opened its beak, breathing rapidly, its throat rising and falling. Qin Ziwen touched it; its feathers were hot, indicating a high temperature.

Qin Ziwen took out a stainless steel water bottle and fed it some water.

The harpy eagles are in somewhat better condition.

Their presence outside the south gate attracted the attention of many residents, not only because of the enormous harpy eagles, but also because of the single-clawed dragon strung on a spear, resembling a flock of chicks being held upside down.

"My goodness, what is this? A dinosaur!" An old man wearing a cardigan and fanning himself with a palm leaf fan exclaimed in surprise.

"My goodness, dinosaurs can be this small? They're not much different from the geese I used to raise in the countryside."

A group of students who had just returned from outside and hadn't even entered the residential area kept turning their heads to curiously examine the single-clawed dragon. They suddenly felt that the scorpions they had caught in the Gobi Desert were no longer appealing.

I'm going to take a nap now. I'll do today's update when I wake up this afternoon.
