Warhammer: The Time Traveler

Chapter 335 Interception Plan

Chapter 335 Interception Plan (Nine Updates)
The container problem was solved, but how to safely and discreetly transport the two behemoths in the research institute to the Enterprise, hidden in a valley dozens of kilometers away, remained a huge challenge for everyone.

The discussion reached a stalemate, as conventional transportation methods were either too conspicuous or technically difficult to implement.

Ultimately, Chen Yu proposed a solution: "Based on the analysis of the logistics capabilities of this era, the research institute will inevitably need to use large, specialized transport vehicles to transfer the whales. The most efficient solution is to intercept them during their transfer."

The operation was carried out by Mann's team, who controlled the transport vehicles and personnel, and moved the vehicles, along with the whale container, to the vicinity of the Enterprise.

As long as the action is swift, ensures no casualties, and leaves behind precious metals far exceeding the value of the vehicles as compensation, the risk of spacetime pollution is within a controllable range.

This plan is simple, direct, and even has a street style common in the cyberpunk world, which is somewhat incompatible with the principles that Starfleet has always followed.

Kirk frowned after hearing this; he instinctively rejected this act that bordered on robbery.

But after careful consideration, he had to admit that, given the tight timeframe and lack of better options, this was indeed the method with the highest probability of success.

He finally nodded heavily, but solemnly declared to Chen Yu that no one should be harmed during the operation, and that the compensation must be full.

While Kirk was racking his brains over the ground operations plan, Spock took a completely different approach to dealing with the mission objective—the whale itself.

He believes that, ethically, bringing two living beings across hundreds of years to a completely unfamiliar environment requires their consent.

With Dr. Taylor's help, Spock silently submerged into the water and approached George and Grace.

Using the Vulcans' unique telepathic abilities, he carefully established a preliminary spiritual connection with the two enormous sea creatures.

This is a profound form of communication, conveying future crises, threats to the planet, and the roles that need to be played in a way that transcends language.

He also sensed the whales' vast wisdom, their deep attachment to the ocean, and the budding desire to take responsibility for a larger ecosystem.

The plan is to proceed steadily in a unique eclectic style.

The members of Mann's squad removed their iconic heavy incendiary weapons and plasma equipment, weapons of mass destruction for future battlefields that would seem far too outrageous for the streets of the 20th century.

They tried to conceal their overly obvious combat cybernetic devices and optical sensors with oversized jackets, bandanas, and exaggerated accessories, striving to blend into the unconventional young crowd on the streets of San Francisco.

The results were surprisingly good.

Their street-smart charisma and deliberately futuristic "retro" outfits made them look like a group of extremely avant-garde rock musicians or extreme hippies.

On the way to the designated reconnaissance location, some local hippies actually came up to them and asked curiously where they got their "bionic tattoos" and "modifications," praising their appearance as "simply from outer space."

Jack made full use of his ability to deal with all sorts of people. He chuckled and used a few oddly shaped but simple gadgets from Night City that he carried with him—such as a keychain that could project simple holographic images and an audio generator that could emit strange sound effects—to successfully get by and ingratiate himself with these "local guides."

He handed over a few synthetic-flavored but strangely tasted "cigarettes," and during their casual conversation while puffing on cigarettes, he subtly steered the conversation toward the city's special transportation services, especially the large vehicles traveling to and from the Oceanographic Research Institute.

These young people on the street were clearly very knowledgeable about everything happening in the city. They provided a lot of useful information, such as what type of large flatbed trailer the research institute usually used, which transportation company they often cooperated with, and even vaguely mentioned that there might be rumors of a "big thing" being transported away recently.

Valerie's rapid organization and analysis of these fragmented intelligence reports provided valuable information on the time, location, and target vehicle characteristics for MAN's subsequent interception operation. Even before the operation began, MAN's team, with their unique "localized" camouflage, had already gathered crucial firsthand information on the streets around the target location.

When Jack brought back detailed information about the transport vehicles, and combined it with the urban traffic data and the institute's internal schedule collected by Chen Yu, a clear action plan was quickly formulated at the temporary command post.

Chen Yu projected the simulated route onto the map and calmly explained: "According to the existing data model, after the transport vehicle leaves the research institute, there is an 87% probability that it will turn onto the main road via the auxiliary road next to Kinmen Park."

The road offers relatively open visibility, but traffic is sparse in the afternoon, and the trees on both sides provide some shade, making it the best spot for interception.

He paused for a moment, then turned his attention to the two female members of the group.

"The key to this operation is precision and speed, avoiding any unnecessary entanglement. Valerie, you are in charge of on-site command and intelligence support, monitoring surrounding communications and police channels."

"Mower, your S.A.S. system is key to ensuring instantaneous control of the situation; the core of the operation will be executed by the two of you."

He further elaborated: "Mann led Dorio and Falco to stand by in the adjacent blocks as a rapid response force to deal with unplanned situations."

Jack, your task is to create a small, non-destructive traffic disruption at the intersection before the operation begins, such as faking a vehicle breakdown. The aim is to slightly delay any unrelated vehicles that might be passing by, thus creating a window of opportunity for the operation.

Once the plan was finalized, the implementation date arrived quickly.

In the afternoon, a large special transport vehicle slowly drove up, and inside the vehicle was a specially made water tank carrying George and Grace.

The driver was a middle-aged man in work clothes, humming a popular song from the radio, completely unaware of what was about to happen.

Just as the vehicle was about to turn, Jack, driving an old pickup truck that the hippies had helped him get, suddenly "stood up" and stopped a little before the intersection. He jumped out of the car, and with a look of "annoyance," he opened the hood, which conveniently blocked the direct view of the vehicles behind him.

Almost simultaneously, a blurry figure flashed out from the shadows of the trees to the side at a speed beyond the limits of human vision—Mower activated the Sianwistan.

She approached the driver's seat silently like a ghost, and before the driver could react, she deftly opened the door. The cold back of her sonic blade pressed precisely against the driver's carotid artery, while her other hand swiftly shut off the vehicle's engine.

"Don't move, don't make a sound, cooperate with us, and you won't get hurt." Her voice was calm and unwavering.

At the same time, Valerie appeared from the other side, quickly scanning the vehicle and driver to confirm there were no hidden alarms or weapons, and reported in a low voice via encrypted communication: "Target control, environment secure."

The whole process took less than ten seconds.

Mann and Dorio warily observed their surroundings from their car some distance away, while Falco monitored the movements further afield from a high vantage point.

Everything is under control.
