Chapter 354 Demonstration Technology

Chapter 354 Demonstrating Technology (Eighth Update)

“Lord Sigismund,” Chen Yu’s voice remained steady, but his tone carried an unprecedented solemnity, “Given our upcoming cooperation and the profound impact this technology may have, I have an important request.”

Sigismund's projection paused slightly: "Please speak."

“I hope to have the opportunity to meet Lord Rogue Dorn,” Chen Yu stated clearly. “I possess certain technologies that transcend conventional understanding. The importance of these technologies goes beyond the scope of ordinary cooperation and may even relate to the future strategic direction of the Empire. Precisely because of their special nature, I must personally demonstrate them to the Primarch.”

Sigismund paused for a moment, his black helmet tilting slightly. "Is the technology you speak of related to your research in the world of the dead?"

"Partially related, but far more than that," Chen Yu responded cautiously. "The material recombination and ecological transformation technologies involved, if correctly applied, might change the Empire's strategic model for colonizing the world of the dead. However, the potential risks and value of these technologies need to be assessed at the highest level."

Sigismund's mechanical joints hummed slightly, as if weighing the weight of the request. Finally, he said in a deep voice, "I will relay your request to the Primarch. But you must understand that Lord Dorne now bears the heavy responsibility of rebuilding the entire Imperial defenses. If your demonstration cannot prove its worth..."

“I understand,” Chen Yu continued. “I will prepare a complete demonstration plan and technical parameters. Meanwhile, the development of the equipment needed for the Black Sanctuary will proceed concurrently and will not be delayed.”

After the communication ended, Chen Yu immediately began to re-plan the research priorities.

The opportunity to meet the Primarch is extremely rare, and he must make the most thorough preparations.

Research on the primordial particle needs to be accelerated; at the very least, convincing interim results that can be demonstrated in a closed experimental setting should be produced.

At the same time, he needs to work on another, even more disruptive technology, whose importance far surpasses that of the Genesis Particle—the warp drive technology derived from the Star Trek database.

Chen Yu clearly recognized that in the vast and perilous Milky Way galaxy, reliable and relatively safe faster-than-light travel capability was the lifeline for the Empire to maintain its rule.

Warp drive technology, however, has the potential to shake this lifeline.

According to his calculations, achieving a warp speed of level six would be enough to replace the current shipping system that relies on subspace and the Star Court within a star sector; if a warp speed of level eight could be achieved, its range and speed would even be able to support regular interstellar transportation, and even long journeys across star sectors would no longer be an unattainable dream.

But once this force is unleashed, it will unleash a massive wave that will sweep across the entire imperial power structure.

The Star Court will lose its monopoly on information transmission, the value of the subspace navigation capabilities upon which the Navigator families depend will plummet, and the entire empire's political, economic, and military systems, built on subspace navigation, will be fundamentally impacted.

Needless to say, the headquarters of the Martian Mechanicus would never sit idly by while a technology capable of redefining interstellar travel is controlled by a sage who forges worlds on the fringes. They would certainly intervene, seize, or even seal it away at all costs.

Without the recognition and protection of a gene source, this technology would be impossible to promote, and even the safe possession of it would be a pipe dream.

Roger Dorn, with his absolute loyalty, pragmatic style, and pivotal position in the Empire, is currently the only high-ranking person Chen Yu can reach who might understand and support the strategic value of this technology.

Therefore, this meeting is of great importance.

He had to carefully design the presentation, ensuring the Primarch of Dorne intuitively understood the strategic advantages of the warp drive—for example, how Imperial forces could respond to border threats more quickly and safely, and how to maintain communication in key star systems during warp storms. At the same time, he had to carefully control the amount of information, avoiding prematurely revealing its full potential, while also being prepared to address the Primarch's inevitable sharp questions about the social and political upheavals the technology would cause.

He entrusted the follow-up improvement work of the Iron Guard project to Neksam's team, while he devoted most of his computing resources and energy to preparing for this crucial demonstration.

This was not only to secure research resources, but also to gain a foothold in the upper echelons of the empire, and to find a sufficiently strong backer in advance for the potentially greater storms to come.

The key to the future is in his hands, and now he needs to persuade one of the cornerstones of the empire to see with him what lies beyond the door.
-
Sigismund's efficiency was as swift as his swordsmanship.

Shortly after the communication ended, a small shuttle belonging to the Black Sanctuary pierced through the thin atmosphere of the Death World and landed on the landing pad of Chen Yu's base.

The fact that Sigismund, dressed in black power armor, personally visited shows how much he valued Chen Yu's previous proposal.

Chen Yu did not engage in much small talk or show off other parts of the base.

He led Sigismund directly through heavily guarded passages to the edge of the canyon where the creation experiment was taking place.

Standing on the observation platform, looking down at the vibrant green canyon that stood out starkly from the surrounding desolate environment, Sigismund's face, hidden beneath his helmet, was not visible, but his slightly forward-leaning posture revealed the turmoil in his heart.

He could feel the moisture and freshness of the air and see the lush vegetation, which was nothing short of a miracle in a world that the empire had marked as utterly dead.

“As you can see, this is the initial application of environmental modification,” Chen Yu’s voice rang out calmly from the side. “But this is not the main reason I requested to see the original body.”

He turned to Sigismund and gestured for him to have the Black Templar Guards following him temporarily withdraw out of their hearing range.

Sigismund hesitated for a moment, then waved his hand, and the two loyal warriors immediately retreated, keeping watch at a distance.

Once only the two of them were left, Chen Yu spoke again, his synthesized voice lowered slightly but carrying immense weight: "Lord Sigismund, what I truly wish to demonstrate to Lord Roger Dorn is a technology that could redefine the Empire's territory and the way power is projected."

It's about navigation, about speed, about... breaking free from absolute dependence on subspace and navigators.

He clearly stated the term: "I have mastered the feasible technical path for the 'warp engine'."

He succinctly explained the core idea: "According to theoretical models, this technology can achieve faster-than-light travel based on the physical universe. Once a certain level is reached, its speed will be sufficient to replace existing subspace engines within a star sector or even a region of stars."

The voyage will take place entirely within the real universe, avoiding the storms of the warp and the...threats within.
