Journey to the West: The roadblock!

Chapter 6, Exorcising the Demon at Gao Village

Chapter 6, Exorcising the Demon at Gao Village (Part 1)
After the system rewards were distributed, the Mountain-Moving Technique, one of the magical rewards, appeared directly in Ao Tu's mind and was immediately mastered.

Ao Tu made hand seals and chanted incantations, and a small mountain was moved by his magic. However, this spell could only move small mountains and rivers; it could not move famous mountains and rivers like Mount Tai and Mount Hua.

However, this is not bad; it's a very practical spell.

As for the rewards of the Six-Turn Golden Elixir and the True Dragon Pearl, they were directly given to Ao Tu.

The six-stage golden elixir was gleaming and bright, with a full rosy glow and a thousand auspicious rays.

If a mortal were to consume it, they would instantly become an immortal, achieving eternal life. Ao Tu, being a Xuanxian (a high-level immortal), did not experience the same dramatic effects as a mortal, but even so, he would still greatly advance his cultivation, saving him countless years of arduous work. It was truly a rare and precious elixir.

Without hesitation, Ao Tu swallowed the Six-Turn Golden Pill into his stomach and refined it. His cultivation level soared, and he broke through from the early stage of the Profound Immortal Realm to the middle stage. The medicinal power had not yet been fully refined. If it were fully refined, it might help him break through to the late stage of the Profound Immortal Realm.

Ao Tu then looked at the real dragon pearl.

This is a bright golden dragon pearl. Judging from its aura, it was left behind by a true dragon at the Golden Immortal level. The laws flow within the dragon pearl, and it contains the rudimentary form of a small world, containing endless magical power.

Ao Tu liked it more and more as he looked at it. With this dragon pearl, which was of the Golden Immortal level, eating it could help him break through to the Golden Immortal realm as soon as possible; if he didn't eat it, he could use it as a magic weapon. When encountering enemies, he could throw the dragon pearl, which was equivalent to an attack of the Golden Immortal level. It was really extremely beneficial.

Ao Tu swallowed the dragon pearl, hid it in his stomach, and then flew towards Gao Village.

He should start preparing his next move.

Ao Tu had already devised a plan on how to stop Tang Sanzang and his disciples at Gao Village. Considering the extra twelve days he gained at Guanyin Temple, he was confident that he could achieve the thirty-day target this time and receive the reward of a month of interception.

However, just as Ao Tu was flying towards Gao Lao Zhuang, more than a dozen figures suddenly appeared ahead.

The dozen or so figures were all extremely ugly, with red skin, flames rising from their heads, and a height of two zhang (approximately 6.6 meters). They had wings on their backs, one eye on the top of their head and the other on their chin. One nostril pointed to the sky and the other to the ground. One ear was in front and the other in the back. They had human bodies and animal heads, bull heads and horse faces, and were all flying in the air, holding steel forks. They were the Yakshas, the number one fighting force of the eight divisions of Buddhism.

"Ao Tu, you have missed the appointed time for the bell to ring and have fled to the mortal realm. We have been ordered by Venerable Ananda to capture you!"

As the yakshas spoke, they charged at Ao Tu.

Seeing this, Ao Tu wondered what Ananda was up to. He had clearly sent him down to the mortal realm to obstruct Tang Sanzang's journey to the West, so why was he sending a yaksha to capture him?

However, these Yakshas were of low cultivation level. Only the leader was a Celestial Immortal, while the rest were Earth Immortals, and there were also two newly transformed ones. They could be easily destroyed by him.

Ao Tu transformed into his original form, becoming a four-clawed yellow dragon. He opened his massive mouth and spewed out a golden radiance, its sharpness filling the sky. It struck the yakshas, instantly splattering blood in the air, and the yaksha corpses were torn to pieces and fell from the sky.

Ao Tu possesses the bloodline of a golden dragon, but it is impure, which is why he appears as a yellow dragon. He is born with a sharp metallic aura, which, when exhaled, can kill all things; if it strikes a person, both body and soul are annihilated, leaving no trace of their corpse.

After the light faded, only the leader, a celestial-level yaksha, remained alive out of the dozen or so yakshas. Covered in blood and weakly fleeing, he cried out in panic:
"Demon dragon, your ferocity is unforgivable! Buddha will not forgive you!"

Ao Tu didn't care at all. He had once devoted himself to ringing the bell and worshipping Buddha, but Buddha hadn't let him off the hook either.
Just as they were about to chase after him and kill him, a beam of crystal light suddenly fell from the sky, shining on the fleeing Yaksha and freezing him in place.

Ao Tu immediately felt that this scene was very familiar. He had been frozen in this way when he was ringing the bell before, which made him miss the time to ring the bell.

As expected, Ananda's figure then appeared in the air, surrounded by Buddha's light, standing on a golden lotus, holding a glass bowl in his hand, from which the light of the glass emanated.

Seeing this, Ao Tu secretly put the dragon pearl in his mouth and watched Ananda warily.

A'Nan: "What are you waiting for? Why aren't you making a move?" Ao Tu asked: "What do you mean?"

Ananda said, “You little dragon, you are really stupid. I am here to subdue you by the Buddha’s decree. If there are not many casualties, how can I show my hard work and great achievements? I do not want to get involved in this karma of killing. You should act quickly and not delay any longer.”

Upon hearing this, Ao Tu couldn't help but shake his head at the Yaksha clan. He then cast a beam of light, killing the immobilized Yaksha.

Ananda then took back the treasure, looked at Ao Tu, and praised him:
"Excellent, excellent! I have heard that you plotted to frame the pilgrim and add to his suffering in prison. You have done a very good job!"

Ananda took out a golden flower from his bosom and said, "Consider this a reward for you. Since you are capable, I will add more difficulties to your life, the more the better."

Golden flower is a relatively common treasure in Buddhism. Taking it can improve one's cultivation level, and its effect is better than that of ordinary elixirs.

But Ao Tu had doubts in his heart.

It is said that during a great calamity, the secrets of heaven are obscured, and even a sage cannot see the whole picture. How could Ananda know so quickly that it was him who did the trick?

Just as they were wondering, Ananda revealed the reason himself.

Ah Nan: "You did well this time, but you weren't careful enough. Guangzhi and Guangmou went to the underworld to appeal and complain to me, causing a lot of trouble. If it happens again, just devour the living souls to avoid trouble. Otherwise, if things are exposed, I won't protect you!"

Upon hearing this, Ao Tu finally realized where the problem lay.

It turned out that the spirit of Guangzhi Guangmou was suing Ananda in the underworld.

These two are truly fearless in their ignorance.

Ao Tu asked, "May I ask, Venerable One, how did Guangzhi and Guangmou resolve the issue?"

A'Nan said, "Don't worry, to compensate them, I took their souls out of the underworld and threw them into the Eight Transformation Pools of Mount Ling, where they became two guardian yakshas. From then on, they will enjoy eternal bliss in Mount Ling. They were naturally very grateful and withdrew their lawsuit."

Upon hearing the name "Yaksha," Ao Tu immediately had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, Ananda continued:
"Unfortunately, they were too weak and had little fortune. They were struck by your golden light and their souls were scattered. It's a real pity."

Upon hearing this, Ao Tu felt a chill run down his spine, and his perception of the ruthlessness of the Buddhist sect reached a new level.

After Anan left, Ao Tu rushed to the Gao Lao Zhuang area.

This experience made his desire for power even more urgent. If he lacked strength, what difference would there be between him and that demon?
