Chapter 15 Story
On this sturdy and thick wall, there is a dark firing hole every few meters, like an eagle's nest.

In front of the wall, there was a moat, and behind the wall, there was a watchtower. From the watchtower, one could vaguely see the figures of people patrolling with long guns.

"Is Second Uncle preparing for war?"

Fu Juemin squinted and muttered to himself.

The arrival of the group had already attracted the attention of the people inside the earthen fort. Qian Fei and Ma Daikui quickly ran forward and shouted a few words to the people on the watchtower in the local dialect. After a while, the gate of the earthen fort slowly opened inward.

"Young Master Fu, please get in the car."

Qian Fei called Fu Juemin to get back on the car, and the two of them got back on their bicycles.

As the car slowly drove into the earthen fortress, the moment it passed through the gate, Fu Juemin, sitting in the car, had the illusion that he had entered some bandit stronghold.

The earthen fortress covers a vast area, and the car drove slowly for five minutes before finally coming to a complete stop in an open space.

Fu Juemin got out of the car and saw only Ma Daikui. Qian Fei had already run off to inform Fu Guoping.

He wasn't in a hurry, so he stood by the car and waited, taking the opportunity to look around.

To his left was a shooting range, where a dozen or so burly men, shirtless, were practicing shooting.

Fu Juemin even saw a dark, cylindrical heavy machine gun mounted on a tripod, with a row of bright yellow bullets underneath.

Fu Juemin was increasingly astonished as he looked at it; if he didn't know better, he would have thought he had stumbled into a bandit's den.

He really couldn't understand why the Luanhe County government would allow Fu Guoping to create so much stuff right under their noses. Weren't they afraid that Fu Guoping might raise his arms and start a rebellion at any time?
"The Luanhe Police Station doesn't have many foreign guns either; my second uncle's collection is practically a small arsenal."

Just then, Fu Juemin saw a group of people emerge from a three-story villa in the distance and walk quickly toward him.

The leader, a burly man with a full beard, was none other than his second uncle, Fu Guoping.
"Second uncle."

Fu Juemin went up to greet Fu Guoping politely.

"What are you doing here, kid?"

Fu Guoping immediately put his arm around Fu Juemin's shoulder, a subtle glint of surprise flashing in his eyes, but his face was mostly filled with delight.

"I heard from your dad that you've been practicing martial arts lately? You've gotten quite a bit stronger."

Fu Guoping patted Fu Juemin's chest and laughed, "Come on, let's go have a drink at Furuilou with your second uncle. It's been a long time since I've been back."

"Second uncle."

Fu Juemin shook his head, "I've already come all this way, how can you ask me to go back?"

"Let's talk about it again."

He turned and gave the driver a wink, who immediately understood and took out several food containers from the car.

"Fu Rui Lou's roast goose, lamb leg, and braised pork knuckle"

Fu Juemin pointed to each food box, saying, "These are all your favorite dishes, Second Uncle. I ordered them from Furuilou this morning. If you want to drink, we'll drink here, so we don't have to make a trip back."

Fu Guoping probably didn't expect Fu Juemin to have this in mind, and stared blankly at the pile of food boxes.

After a moment, his eyes calmed down, and a smile slowly appeared on his face.

"Okay, I'll have someone prepare it right now."

After saying that, he pulled Fu Juemin around and ordered those behind him, "Quickly prepare the wine!"

Well, he's acting more like a bandit leader now, just short of shouting "Men!"

Fifteen minutes later, in a fairly elegantly decorated room, the table was laden with food and wine, and only Fu Juemin and Fu Guoping were present.

"Try this wine."

Fu Guoping picked up a wine jar that was about half a meter tall, poured a full bowl for Fu Juemin, and urged him to drink it quickly with a smile.

Fu Juemin's previous life was abstaining from alcohol. In his past life, he did drink a little, but after taking a sip, he found it spicy and throat-scratching. He didn't know how strong it was, but he just couldn't get used to it.

"I'll eat with my second uncle instead."

Fu Juemin pushed the large bowl of wine aside, reluctantly declaring his surrender.

Fu Guoping laughed heartily, "Now that we're on Second Uncle's turf, don't even think about cheating."

"How can a man of the Fu family not know how to drink? Don't be fooled by your father's usual teetotaling nature; he even drinks tea when discussing business. If it really came down to it, his alcohol tolerance is better than mine."

Fu Juemin shook his head, picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth, then slowly said, "Second Uncle, I only found out today that your Civil Affairs Office has become such a big operation."

Fu Juemin's tone carried a hint of surprise, but Fu Guoping simply waved his hand, "There's no other way. Our Fu family is so large and powerful; if we don't make a big show of ourselves, how can we stop those ruthless bastards outside?"

Fu Guoping tore off a leg of lamb and sighed, "It's a pity your second uncle could only manage to become the head of the Civil Affairs Department; otherwise, this operation could have been expanded even further."

Fu Juemin knew that his second uncle, though rugged in appearance, was actually shrewd. He figured that if he kept asking, he wouldn't get anything out of him, so he simply asked directly, "Second Uncle, what exactly happened at the dock?"

Fu Guoping paused slightly, holding the lamb leg, and frowned, saying, "You went to the docks again?"

"I was feeling really bored a few days ago, and I heard that there was some kind of water festival and sacrificial ceremony going on at the dock, so I went to take a look at the excitement from afar."

Fu Juemin answered. Fu Guoping thought for a moment, put down the lamb leg in his hand, and slowly said, "Lingjun, regarding the docks, no matter what others tell you, don't believe it."

"Second Uncle, I only believe what I see with my own eyes."

Fu Juemin looked into Fu Guoping's eyes and calmly asked, "So, Second Uncle, is it really true that the water demon is causing trouble at the dock?"

Fu Guoping ate his food and drinks slowly without saying a word.

Fu Juemin didn't urge him, and the room was extremely quiet.

After an unknown amount of time, Fu Guoping finally picked up his wine bowl, took a large gulp, and slowly said, "Lingjun, how about your second uncle tells you a story?"

"My second uncle said."

Fu Juemin blinked.

"When you were just a month old."

Fu Guoping tore off pieces of lamb leg meat, saying as he ate, "Back then, when your father and I first arrived in Luanhe, we lived outside the county town."

One day a fortune teller came by, glanced at you, and said you definitely wouldn't live past nineteen.

Fu Juemin's heart skipped a beat. Was it really that accurate?

The previous incarnation died at the age of nineteen.

However, he remained calm and pressed on, "And then?"

"Then I was furious when I heard that, and I grabbed a knife and was about to chop off the fortune teller's hand."

Fu Guoping said, "The fortune teller saw that I looked fierce and got scared, so he turned around and ran away."

I kept chasing after it, and I don't know how long I chased it, but we ended up in an unknown wild forest.

I cornered the fortune teller under an old locust tree, intending to just scare him a little so he wouldn't go around spouting nonsense.

And guess what happened?

Fu Guoping looked at Fu Juemin.

"how?"

Fu Guoping narrowed his eyes and said in a low voice, "Before my threatening knife even fell, the fortune teller collapsed with a thud."

Then a white-haired old weasel with only one leg popped out of the cavity and kowtowed to me repeatedly.

After they finished kowtowing, they dug out a large box under the tree, which was filled with silver coins and jewels.

"Your father used this money to open his first shop and gradually expanded the business."

"what?!"

Fu Juemin was almost dumbfounded. "Really?"

He stared blankly at Fu Guoping, only to see a sly glint flash in Fu Guoping's eyes before he slapped the table and burst into laughter: "Silly boy, of course it's fake."

"Where do all these strange and supernatural things come from? Do you think you're a storyteller?"

Fu Juemin was speechless for a moment.

He ultimately underestimated his second uncle; even when the conversation was pushed to the city gates, he could still casually make up a story to get away with it.

"Come on, have another drink with your second uncle."

After the story was finished, the topic that Fu Juemin had brought up was completely moved on, and Fu Guoping returned to his original self, loudly urging Fu Juemin to drink.

Fu Juemin reluctantly picked up the wine bowl, but before he could even take a sip, he was still drunk.
"boom!"

The door to the room was pushed open forcefully from the outside, and a bald, dark-skinned man barged in.

"Second Master! Something terrible has happened!"
Peach Blossom Village is haunted by monsters again!
A giant snake, several dozen feet long, devoured anyone it saw, nearly emptying out several nearby villages. The matter reached the county government, and the county magistrate urgently telegraphed us to handle it immediately.
"Damn it, we haven't even dealt with the water monster at the dock yet, and now this snake monster has appeared."

The bald, burly man burst in and launched into a long, rapid-fire report, talking to himself for ages before realizing the awkward atmosphere in the room.

A pair of eyes glared at him as if spitting fire.

The bald, burly man realized he might have said something wrong, made a few "uh-huh" sounds, and finally, at Fu Guoping's angry shout of "Get out!", he shrank back and quickly retreated.

At this moment, Fu Juemin's face was full of indescribable strangeness.

He didn't say anything, he just stared at Fu Guoping.

Fu Guoping's face turned pale, then red, then black. Finally, he slammed down his wine bowl, pointed at the door, and angrily cursed, "You damned bastard who only knows how to ruin things!"

After he finished cursing, he turned to Fu Juemin with an embarrassed look on his face, hesitated for a long time, and finally managed to squeeze out a sentence.

"Fine, I can't hide it from you anyway, so come with me."
