Chapter 158 Rean's Loyal Dog, Diniso
Chapter 158 Rean's Loyal Dog, Diniso
The heavy metal door slowly opened in front of him, carrying a damp, cold, and musty smell. Muirner, with his hands in his pockets, walked inside.
This is an underground air-raid shelter, which has now become the temporary command post for this operation.
As Muirner walked forward, two people were carrying a stretcher. On the stretcher was a man whose body was half-decomposed, and the decaying flesh was constantly growing outward. Despite his condition, he was still alive, lying on the stretcher groaning in pain as he was carried away.
Muirner's gaze remained fixed on the mutated man until they disappeared from sight.
Even she could only alleviate some of his pain at that level.
Alienation is irreversible; we can only stop its spread at its source.
She arrived at the final door. Inside the cramped air-raid shelter, dim lights flickered overhead, and various sophisticated magical instruments were scattered everywhere. Several people dressed in Klar Bureau uniforms were fiddling with those instruments. From the surrounding partitioned rooms, groans could be heard, and streaks of blood left unsettling marks on the ground.
A middle-aged man with a full beard, bloodshot eyes, and prominent black veins on his face, looking like he was about to collapse, strode up to her and spoke in a hoarse voice:
“I am Valenti, the chief of the Krall branch of the Morgans district. I should have been the one to greet you, Professor, but I simply cannot leave this place. I haven’t slept for three days and have been trying my best to deal with that thing.”
His face showed great distress; he looked like a terminally ill patient, and just one look at him evoked pity.
"That thing is in terrible condition right now. It goes berserk every ten minutes on average, and even with Alexstrasza's increased control, it can't be quelled. We already have six members who have been contaminated," he said dejectedly, covering his face.
Muirna surveyed the lifeless surroundings for a moment, then walked to the side, stretched out her hand, and a small two-leafed seedling bloomed at her fingertips. A rich aura of life immediately spread out in circles, and soon, the weariness on the faces of the deathly researchers around her dissipated, and color returned to their pale faces. Even the groans in the partitioned room quieted down.
Muirner placed the small two-leaf seedling on the table and gently stroked its tender leaves with his fingertips.
Valentie's expression softened considerably, and he let out a long breath.
But at that very moment, the entire air-raid shelter trembled, and from behind the iron door came a series of low growls mixed with anger.
Valence's worried gaze turned to Muirner.
“Step back, I’ll handle it,” Muirner said.
"Thank you for your help, Professor," Valence said with a sigh of relief.
Muirna placed the briefcase on the conference table, opened it, and inside was the pair of glasses she had been wearing earlier.
She put on her glasses, turned around, and walked towards the metal door.
The door slowly opened in front of her, and a smell similar to sulfur stone wafted out.
“We’re right outside. Just let us know if you need anything,” Valenti said.
Muirner went inside. There was only a faint light from a kerosene lamp, but the space was quite large. The darkness stretched infinitely in all directions, giving people a sense of unknown fear, as if they were in the deep sea.
Soon, a blood-red light appeared in the darkness. Upon closer inspection, it was a light emerging from a huge, mottled stone slab. It was like a raging beast, rampaging against the edge of the stone slab, as if trying to break free from its restraints.
In front of this stone slab is a floating transparent crystal, with transistor channels connecting it to the stone slab below.
This is the Rhinek Bureau's tsunami-class containment object, the "Corruptor," numbered 0-07, which is extremely dangerous and highly classified.
The one here now is just a projection; its true form is still located underground in the royal capital, Aristotle. Although it is just a projection, it is almost indistinguishable from the original. With its strength, if it could truly break free from its constraints, it could summon its true form over.
Muirna was about to step forward and reach out to touch the crystal that served as the "sealing lock," but at that moment, the corrupted creature, which had been berserk, fell silent and even spoke to her:
"You are from the Farish race of the elves?"
Muirna looked up and saw the crimson light on the stone slab gather into a ball, and the shape that could barely be called a "face" was asking her a question.
“You still remember us, so it seems your mind is still quite clear,” Muirna glanced at it and continued to lower her head to pour magic into the crystal.
"Because I am the King of Blackprody! The last glory of the Isaac royal family! Dineso Adam Von!"
The sealed corrupted creature suddenly erupted in an excited roar.
"I am the glory of royalty, a noble warrior! You foolish humans, yet you call me the Corruptor! Is this a title a noble king should have, you bastards!"
It said this in a fit of rage.
“But the names I’ve heard about you are different: ‘Rebel Diniso’ or ‘Rean’s Loyal Dog’,” Muirna said to it as if they were having a casual conversation.
"Bullshit! When have I ever been his dog! That damned Li!"
He stopped abruptly as he spoke, as if hurling insults at the name was still a burden for him. “Reantantin has been dead for many years; you don’t need to be so concerned about him anymore,” Muirner kindly reminded him.
"Of course I know!" Dini roared in fury. "What is he! He's not even as good as a flea on my body! Damn it, what kind of emperor is he? He's just a despicable and shameless scoundrel! If he hadn't framed me, would I have been enslaved by him? All I wanted was some human slaves, and he actually sent troops to conquer me and enslave and torment me for decades!"
"If I hadn't woken up too late, I would have been the one to kill that beast! Reantandin? Bah!"
He kept cursing, as if he wanted to vent all his past resentment, while Muirner listened silently to him.
Muirner was very clear about the history of this self-proclaimed honorable containment object.
Diniso Adam Von was once a border prince under the House of Isaac, but he had little real power. For reasons unknown, he set his sights on the land of Eldaria, attempting to use magic to transform the common people of several cities into his slaves. When Rean learned of this, he personally raised an army to attack him. Diniso was captured and later declared his submission to Rean. He can be considered one of the Isaac royals who were captured before the start of the Continental War, becoming a disgrace to the royal family at that time.
Although it was a disgrace, Dinesor's strength was not weak, even quite terrifying, especially his mastery of magic, capable of assimilating undead to serve him. However, for some unknown reason, he fell into a deep sleep for nearly a century. When he opened his eyes again, it was after the Great Cataclysm. As a member of the noble Isaac royal family, he had been corrupted by the chaotic magic of the Great Cataclysm, causing him to mutate. Any creature he assimilated would turn into a monster, and he himself was cursed as a result.
He also caused the later Nottingham massacre, in which mutated monsters attacked the city, causing the deaths of hundreds of people. He was then controlled by the sorcerers of the time and sealed away, forcibly entering a deep sleep, until recently when he was activated because of this incident.
After venting his anger, Diniso seemed exhausted from yelling and was even panting heavily.
He seemed to have sensed something else and asked Muirna, "Hey, elf, those titles are all nonsense, but no one except the royal family and nobles of that time knows about them. Where did you hear about them?"
Muirner paused for a moment, then said:
I saw him once when I was five years old.
“No wonder.” Diniso let out a chuckle of laughter.
"The elves were tricked and deceived into forming a so-called alliance with him, only to be kicked aside in the end. I'm quite curious about the Elf King's attitude towards him back then, haha!"
“Hey, elf, he did such a terrible thing to your elven race, you must hate him, right? If you say something bad about him, maybe I'll have a better impression of you,” Diniso said.
“You’re really naive,” Muirner said calmly.
"Well, you son of a bitch, so you're in cahoots with him! You lowly elf!" Diniso instantly changed his attitude and roared angrily at her.
At the same time, Muirna discovered that the seal had loosened. In his rage, the seal trembled, and a blood-red, domineering power leaked out from it.
Muirna gave a low hum, and lush green branches and leaves stretched out from beneath her feet, instantly spreading over a large area. Under the cover of these branches and leaves, a surge of life force erupted, suppressing the crimson light.
As they confronted each other, the entire air-raid shelter shook, and wisps of dust fell from above.
With a faint crack, the sound of glass breaking was almost imperceptible. The crimson light seemed about to break through the stone slab, but at that moment, the lenses of the glasses on Muirna's face flickered, and then the magic power released from her body suddenly increased, actually suppressing Diniso back.
Finally, during their clash, the accumulated magical turbulence exploded completely, and with a deafening roar, even the metal gate was blasted open.
With such a commotion, the people waiting outside knew what had happened and quickly organized their equipment and rushed inside.
But then they saw Muirner slowly emerge from the darkness.
Her coat was torn at the hem, but her calm expression remained unchanged.
"Professor Muirner, are you alright?" Valence quickly stepped forward to ask.
“I’m fine,” Muirner said calmly.
Looking behind her, everyone saw that the huge sealing stone slab was now completely covered by lush green leaves and was now completely still.
“I’ve suppressed his power; he won’t go berserk again until at least tomorrow night,” Muirna said.
"Thank you so much! You've worked so hard. Please come and rest here," Valenti said quickly.
Muirner glanced back at the stone slab, took a candy from his pocket, peeled off the coating, put it in his mouth, and followed Valenti out of the metal door. Then, a group of people rushed forward to carry out emergency repairs on the sealed room.
While the air-raid shelter was in complete chaos, a figure silently turned the corner.
"Moonlight, you must have felt it too, right?" Caesar thought to himself.
"Yes, it's that guy's aura. He's still alive!" Mu Yue said.
“Yes, I really didn’t expect this thing to be Diniso.” Caesar’s eyes gleamed.
"We'll have to change our plans now."
