Chapter 329 Thoughts
Chapter 329 Thoughts
Just then, a sound came from the entrance of the venue, and three young men and women arrived. As soon as they entered, Yumilia recognized one of them as Shani, her former assistant at the botanical garden.
"Shani! Over here!"
She excitedly stood up and waved to her, but in her excitement, she suddenly remembered that her current situation made it inconvenient to see acquaintances.
So she quickly covered her mouth and tried to sit down, but unfortunately, the person opposite her had already seen her.
"Teacher Yumilia!"
Shani turned around and saw her, her eyes widening in surprise. She quickly pulled the young man beside her over, and the other young woman followed.
"Teacher Yumilia, what are you doing here!?" She led the two of them to sit down in the seats opposite them.
"Well, I... I just came to take a look. It's a gift certificate from a friend, and it would be a shame not to use it." Yumilia could only try to make amends for herself.
"Oh, I see. Hey, who is this?" Shani looked at Caesar, and then her gaze became fixed on him.
Not only her, but another girl's eyes also widened immediately when she first saw Caesar.
They've seen handsome men before, but those with distinctive features are rare. Caesar's image, a blend of gentleness and masculinity, would make any woman with a normal orientation fall for him.
Shani was alright; the man beside her was clearly her partner, and she only expressed her envy before not asking any further questions. The other woman, however, wasn't so forgiving.
"This, this is Caesar, I, we just came by casually. I would be nervous coming alone, so I brought him along," Yumilia quickly explained, afraid they would misunderstand.
“Oh! This is the Caesar you used to mention all the time?” Shani immediately thought.
Caesar smiled and greeted them.
"Hey, hello." Another girl greeted him with a silly smile.
“Oh, let me introduce you. This is my husband, Hales, and this is my friend, Susan,” Shani introduced to Yumilia.
"Shani, you're married?" Yumilia's eyes widened.
"We just got married this year, hehe, we're planning to save up enough money for a vacation in the second half of the year." Shani smiled and put her arm around the burly man next to her, showing him the ring on her ring finger.
"I won this ticket in a lucky draw at a company event a few days ago. I figured I had some free time, so I brought Hales along."
As Shani spoke, she snuggled closer to Hales, the young couple looking very affectionate.
Then Shani remembered and said, "Oh, but Susan really wanted to see if there was a chance, she's still single."
"Um... I... yes," Susan said shyly.
“Well, congratulations, Shani! You must be living a wonderful life now, right?” Yumilia said.
"It's alright, though. I'm a bit tired, and I have to deal with that annoying boss. Sigh, every time I run into that arrogant boss, I think of you, Professor Yumilia. You were so kind and caring to me back then. It's a pity I haven't met anyone as good as you since," Shani sighed.
Yumilia just smiled sheepishly.
"By the way, Ms. Yumilia, why did you bring Caesar to this kind of gathering?" Shani asked again.
"I... I already said I was nervous coming alone. I just wanted to see what this kind of gathering is like, broaden my horizons and stuff," Yumilia said shyly.
"Oh, I see," Shani said, having known Yumilia before, so she didn't think much of it. She glanced at Caesar and greeted him with a simple smile.
"Hello, I used to work at the botanical garden with Professor Yumilia, and she took great care of me back then."
“Hello, I’ve often heard her talk about you and your time at the botanical garden,” Caesar said with a friendly smile.
“Really? That’s true.” Before Shani could finish speaking, her companion Susan squeezed in and said to Caesar with a smile:
"Hello, my name is Susan, Susan Rawls. I work for the New Energy and Environmental Protection Committee. My hobbies include reading, music, traveling, and animals."
"Oh, hello," Caesar greeted him in a friendly manner.
"You rascal." Shani looked at her helplessly, naturally understanding what she was thinking as a friend.
Just then, someone at a table not far away called them. Shani said to Yumilia, "Teacher, my friend is still over there, so I'll go over first and come find you to chat in a bit."
"Mmm." Yumilia nodded quickly.
Shani and Hales stood up, but even after they left Susan, they didn't seem to want to leave. They rested their chins on their hands and looked at Caesar with a grin.
"Um...aren't you going?" Caesar pointed over there.
“That’s Shani’s friend, I don’t know her,” Susan said, placing her hands on the table and saying to Caesar, “Caesar, you look so young, you can’t be twenty, can you?”
“Yes, nineteen.” Caesar nodded.
“Huh? He’s so much younger than me,” Susan exclaimed in surprise.
"Really? Susan, you don't look that old."
"Haha, you really know how to talk."
Just as the two were about to start chatting, Yumilia couldn't sit still and quickly pulled Caesar's hand.
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Caesar asked.
"I... um..." Yumilia couldn't think of an excuse for a moment.
"I'll go pick a flower."
"Oh well."
Having already said it, Yumilia had no choice but to get up and leave, going to the restroom.
Standing in front of the sink, she looked at herself in the glass mirror and sighed to herself.
"What am I thinking?" Why would I have such thoughts, like feeling unhappy just because I saw Caesar chatting with another woman?
After they came out and returned to their seats, the two continued to talk.
"Oh? Really? You like animals too?" Susan said with surprise. "I have a Porsha cat at home. It's fluffy, very well-behaved, and has a great personality."
"My dog has a bad temper and is quite destructive, but he's very well-behaved around me," Caesar said casually.
“Huh? What’s that? A dog?” Susan asked.
"Oh, I guess so," Caesar said with a slightly embarrassed smile.
Hopefully, Ita won't overhear this conversation.
Susan's expression turned a little embarrassed: "Caesar, I... I feel like we get along really well, and besides, it's the first time I've ever met such a handsome guy like you."
"Is that so? It's an honor," Caesar could only say.
"So, would you like to come to my house to see my kitten? She can even do handstands." Susan winked at him, hinting at something.
If this were real, Caesar would really like to see a cat that can stand upside down.
"I"
Susan's face stiffened, her lips twitched, and her expression shifted to the one that should have been present:
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"What a waste of time!"
But she still forced a smile and tried to be as polite as possible:
"Oh, okay, okay then, sorry to bother you."
She suddenly became restless, and after thinking for a while, she got up to say goodbye.
"What a talkative girl," Caesar sighed.
Then he looked at Yumilia and gently patted her shoulder: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Yumilia was silent for a moment, then nodded.
"Perhaps the aromatherapy here is too strong? Should we go down for some fresh air?" Caesar asked again.
He nodded again.
So Caesar took her hand, and Yumilia obediently got up and followed Caesar out.
The elevator arrived, the two stepped onto it, the doors closed, and it began to descend.
However, just as it descended to a certain height, there was a sudden, violent jolt, followed by a violent shaking of the elevator shaft, and the overhead lights exploded and went out.
Caesar immediately grabbed Yumilia and was about to cast a spell, but the expected fall did not occur.
The elevator stopped in mid-air and remained motionless.
"Tsk, why did it break down at this time?" Caesar pressed the button twice but there was no response.
He activated his Domination skill and discovered that he was currently at the boundary between floors, with the wall right outside the elevator doors. In this situation, the only options were to break through the wall or tear open the top of the elevator and jump out.
However, this will require a lot of explanation later.
It is possible to teleport out, but the current teleportation spell can only teleport the person themselves.
Fortunately, he checked with his command tool and found that the elevator was only stuck in the gears and there was no immediate risk of it falling.
“Damn it,” he sighed.
Let's wait for rescue first. If there's a real emergency, then we can resort to extreme measures.
He was about to say that to Yumilia when he noticed the little fairy huddled tightly in his arms, trembling.
“Yumeria?” Caesar called out to her.
"Hey, Caesar, don't be afraid, I'm here."
She was called upon and looked up again, still trembling, yet she continued to comfort Caesar.
"You're the one who shouldn't be afraid, aren't you?" Caesar sighed.
Given the unexpected situation and the fact that it was now a completely dark and claustrophobic space, it's no wonder that Yumilia was afraid.
Caesar knelt down, hugged her tightly, and patted her back to comfort her.
"Okay, don't worry, I'm here. The elevator is just stuck. Let's wait a bit. The maintenance worker should be here soon."
Yumilia calmed down under his comforting words.
The little elf gradually recovered, and its body stopped trembling.
To avoid frightening her, Caesar tried to change the subject: "Speaking of which, the pastries today were quite delicious. Considering it was just a tea party, this trip was definitely worthwhile."
Yumilia simply hummed in response.
"Hehe, if it were Ita who came, he would probably have just broken down the door," he added.
Yumilia simply hummed in response.
"Shouldn't we be able to get compensation from the management for this kind of accident?" he said.
"By the way, did you eat that lemon lava shortbread cookie earlier? I thought it tasted pretty good."
