The Wandering Immortal

Chapter 2 Peach Blossom Paradise

Chapter 2 Peach Blossom Paradise
In the small, broken planet of the Southern Continent, the human race flourished. In the Central Plains, there was the Great Tang Dynasty, enjoying its most prosperous era.

The place where Jiangyuan was reincarnated has no dynastic changes, so it is beyond the reach of gods and cannot be found by mortals.

Venus is in charge of guiding immortals year-round. He has to manage immortals descending to earth to undergo tribulations, humans ascending to the upper realm, and great demons achieving enlightenment. He will inevitably encounter some troublesome things and make some minor mistakes that cannot be told to outsiders. Therefore, there must be a place where people can hide.

Peach Blossom Paradise is a small plot of land that Venus has reserved in the Southern Continent. It is not very big, only a few hundred miles in circumference. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides, with a small river winding through the middle. Two small villages live on opposite sides of the river, and the sounds of chickens and dogs can be heard from one another.

In Nancun, there lived a doctor named Jiang, whose family had practiced medicine for generations, so there wasn't much for them to do. This blessed land was blessed with beautiful mountains and clear waters, and the people were carefree, healthy, and rarely suffered from headaches or fevers.

Dr. Jiang usually enjoys reading and writing, and the villagers don't call him doctor but rather "sir".

Mr. Jiang was over fifty, his wife was in her forties, and their two sons were of marriageable age. But that year, Mrs. Jiang became pregnant again, which became the talk of the town in both villages.

Madam Jiang conceived at an age when she should have stopped menstruating, but she did not feel any strain at all. On the contrary, she felt refreshed and often enjoyed taking walks along the river with her big belly.

Peach Blossom Paradise was always blessed with good weather, but on this day a sudden storm raged with strong winds, lightning, and thunder. Madam Jiang was caught off guard and was blown into the river by the storm.

With no one around, Madam Jiang desperately clung to the wild grass and tree roots by the riverbank to avoid being swept away by the current.

By the time Mr. Jiang arrived at the riverbank, Mrs. Jiang had already given birth in the water. Mrs. Jiang pulled the child out of the water, held it above her head with one hand, and the child's cries pierced the sky.

Dr. Jiang was horrified when he saw this scene. He quickly took the child and pulled his wife ashore.

Suddenly the wind and rain stopped, and the sun shone brightly. The village women who had heard the news rushed over and helped carry Madam Jiang home.

Fortunately, the child was fine, but Madam Jiang suffered greatly from the shock and being soaked in the river, which left her with a chronic illness.

Mr. Jiang named the child Jiang Yuan, a name that came to mind naturally.

Jiang Yuan cried so hard that the thunderclouds dispersed on the day he was born, and he has never cried since.

Jiang Yuan's mother was old and didn't have much breast milk, so he grew up on milk from many different families. All the young women who had just started having children loved this child. He was handsome with clear eyes, ate and slept well, and was never naughty or cried.

When Jiang Yuan was three years old, Madam Jiang finally couldn't hold on any longer. As his mother breathed her last, little Jiang Yuan shed two clear tears and softly called out "Mother."

Madam Jiang passed away with a smile and was buried at the foot of Xishan Mountain.

Mr. Jiang lost his wife in his old age and became listless and increasingly thin.

The eldest brother had just gotten married and inherited his father's medical skills, so Xiao Jiangyuan was taken care of by his sister-in-law, Cui.

Fortunately, Jiang Yuan was never naughty. When no one was watching him, he would find books to read on his own.

The older sister-in-law asked curiously, "This child hasn't even started learning yet, can he understand books?"

The elder brother shook his head and chuckled, but what he was thinking about was the many miracles that happened on the day Jiang Yuan was born.

Jiang Yuan didn't respond, lost in his own world.

On the day his mother passed away, Jiang Yuan had an epiphany and remembered some things, but not very clearly. He was in a daze, and reading was just a subconscious act.

At night, Jiang Yuan always had one dream after another. By the time he was six years old, Jiang Yuan had already figured out most of the things that happened in his previous life.

He had only been in the celestial realm for half a day when Taibai Jinxing persuaded him to leave and arranged for him to temporarily avoid trouble in this blessed land of peach blossoms, but it was not quite the same as what was agreed upon.

The flawless golden body, painstakingly cultivated over a thousand years, could not be preserved, and all its water-based magical powers were also erased, perhaps because the mother was a mortal and could not withstand the nurturing of an ascended great being.

But why can't we feel any spiritual energy from heaven and earth now? Could it be that this blessed land is isolated from spiritual energy?

Six years have passed. Six days should have passed in Heaven. Has the Heavenly Court not finished its great purge yet? No, if it really was about taking the Heavenly River Water Lord to court, why would it need to reincarnate? It's really hard to explain now!

……

Jiang Yuan didn't understand why Taibai Jinxing had created such a small blessed land, and why he didn't expand or upgrade it. When he had achieved great success in his previous life, he could create a space several times larger than Peach Blossom Paradise with just a small magic treasure. Why was Taibai Jinxing, a Golden Immortal from the Upper Realm, so stingy with his magic power?

The rules of this blessed land are extremely simple. The story circulating inside is that the ancestors came here to escape the chaos of the end of the Qin Dynasty, but for so many years no one has thought of going out to see it, which is very incredible.

On the surface, people were carefree and harmonious, never fighting or arguing. However, they were very forgetful, and Jiang Yuan's bizarre birth was soon forgotten.

Furthermore, some people would inexplicably die, and the villagers had no doubts, believing that they were simply destined to die.

Jiang Yuan was speechless. It was simply that the place was too small to accommodate too many people, the rules were insufficient, and they were forced to accept it.

Taoyuan is too small to even have a market. Every household is self-sufficient, and when there is a special need, they barter for goods, each taking what they need.

Although the Jiang family were scholars and doctors, they also had to farm.

A six-year-old child should also help with some chores at home, and since there happened to be an old water buffalo in the family, we entrusted it to Jiang Yuan.

There were about seven or eight children of similar age in the village, but those families all raised yellow cattle. The children would go in groups, driving the cattle up the mountain to graze on their own, while they played to their hearts' content.

Poor Jiang Yuan, he led a water buffalo, but couldn't go up the mountain. He could only graze by the river, and he had to guard against the old buffalo stealing other people's crops.

This old ox is very old; it only has one horn left on its head. Its mouth is very slippery, and it only eats the tenderest new grass, making it very difficult to take care of.

Jiang Yuan didn't care at all. So what if he had no friends? He was an old monster who had lived three lifetimes and couldn't possibly play with those kids.

Furthermore, the scenery along the river is quite beautiful, with hundreds of peach trees lining both banks. This blessed land is spring-like all year round, and the peach trees have a very long flowering period, with petals falling all day long.

Jiang Yuan lived like this until he was seven years old, still herding cattle, which was really boring.

One day, he reached out and caught a falling peach petal, muttering to himself, "Old Ox, oh Old Ox, when will I ever get out of this wretched place?"

Jiang Yuan suddenly heard a voice in his mind: "What have you done?"

Jiang Yuan shuddered and turned to look around, but there was no one there.

"You asked first, don't play dumb."

Jiang Yuan stared blankly at the old ox, his mind racing. He had long suspected that he wasn't the only one with a story in this blessed land, but he never expected that this old ox would also have something to do with him.

"Are you a deity from the celestial realm?"

"No, I'm just an old bull demon."

"Were you also hidden here by Venus...?"

"Indeed, it's been thousands of years."

Jiang Yuan was stunned, his mind went blank.
