Chapter 29 The Shepherdess and the Hunter
Just as Levi finished speaking, footsteps sounded behind him, followed by a slightly immature voice.

“On behalf of my family, I apologize to the two…masters for what happened tonight.”

Everyone turned around and were surprised to find that Yorevan, the eldest son of Belstein, the acting lord of Eaglebeak City, had run out of the castle at some point.

The boy must have been hiding it from his mother and uncle. He had been running very fast, his breathing was disordered, and a fine layer of sweat had seeped from his forehead. His youthful face was also flushed red.

“When my uncle was young… his lover was taken away by an alchemist, and he hasn’t been very fond of alchemists since then. But if my father were here, he would definitely treat you with courtesy. Eaglebeak City welcomes alchemists from all schools, including the Fusion School.”

The half-elf girl was still somewhat oblivious to what was going on.

She was arrested and imprisoned because of what happened that morning, and was then dragged out of the cell in a daze, thinking she was going to be executed. But instead, she found herself in the castle with Ma Li and an old man with a white beard.

The execution then turned into a trial by combat, and Ma Li, who was "not good at fighting," acted as her proxy, swiftly and decisively defeating the big man and freeing her.

Now, the acting city lord of Eagle Beak City, Yoriwen, has come after her, making her even more confused than before.

Renee paused for a moment, then quickly reached out and grasped the half-elf girl's dirty little black hand. "Me too."

For the first time, she felt that leaving the academy wasn't so bad after all.

After shaking hands, Charles eagerly opened the money pouch in his hand and began to carefully count the coins inside.

Her face quickly darkened again. "How come there are only five silver shields! I have 122 copper krones, but that's less than one and a half silver shields, which isn't even as much as that bastard guard took from me!"

How much money did he take from you?

“A full eight silver shields.” The half-elf girl gritted her teeth in anger as she spoke of this. “That was all the savings my father left me, plus the travel expenses the village chief gave me before I set off.”

The half-elf girl was still somewhat shaken as she spoke, "Seeing you in the castle really gave me a fright."

“I’m glad you’re alright,” Ma Li said. “But it seems the Morales family isn’t planning to send anyone to wipe out the goblins. Do you have any alternative plans?”

"Sigh, there's no other way but to try my luck at the Adventurers' Guild." Charles glanced at the money pouch in his hand again. "I wonder if this money will be enough."
