Chapter 103 Is this your guarantee? (Fifth update)
Friday morning.
A new parchment was nailed to the bulletin board of the common room of the four colleges.
The Second Large-Scale Public Duel Class
It will be open to all students this Friday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Presented by: Minerva McGonagall, Felius Frivi
The students gathered around the bulletin board, discussing the matter animatedly.
"The second open duel lesson! I still remember the content of the last open duel lesson!"
"It's Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick again—our Dean can finally make an appearance! It's not the Slytherin guys running the show anymore!"
The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw students were very excited.
Although Professor Levi is also excellent, he is in the same house as the annoying Professor Snape!
How regrettable—Professor Snape always favored Slytherin students, and also…
Now, their dean can also make an appearance.
"Are you kidding me?!"
On Friday afternoon, after finishing his last class, Levi was questioning Snape.
He threw a stack of names in front of Snape and stared at him coldly.
"Is this what you told me—that you don't need me to worry about what you do?"
"what happened?"
Snape's face twitched as he looked at Levi guiltily.
"What do you mean, 'what's wrong'? I told you to recruit more students, even those with weaker foundations, and this is how you recruit them?"
Li Wei pressed his five fingers on the list and slapped it hard.
"Eighty percent of the students are from Slytherin. The remaining three houses combined have only six students, less than 20% of the total. Gryffindor only admitted one Hermione?"
"."
If it were anyone else, Snape could have simply retorted.
But when facing Li Wei, he had neither the shamelessness nor the confidence to do so.
And how should I put it, Snape had a strange feeling at that moment.
He had never seen Li Wei so emotionally volatile before—it was quite interesting.
So this kind of thing can cause him emotional distress? Or has Li Wei really changed himself?
Snape pondered.
But Li Wei's mockery continued.
"Ah—thank you for being so sincere before, so I almost believed you—what was that saying again?"
Strictly speaking, this dueling club was founded by the two of us, and you don't like others telling you what to do.
"I'd like to ask, does this dueling club still have anything to do with me? You haven't done what I asked you to do properly at all."
Didn't I say the student ratios in the four houses should be relatively close? And Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students are clearly more outstanding. What's the point of bringing in a bunch of spoiled brats who only know how to whine and complain?
"Enough! Haven't you said enough?"
Snape couldn't take it anymore!
Li Wei is too aggressive! He's never seen anyone speak so sharply and meanly!
How come he didn't know back then that this guy had such a sharp tongue?
If he had joined their side during his student days, they probably would have not only defeated James and his gang in magic, but also won the verbal battles!
Then he wouldn't have said those words that he would regret for the rest of his life in a fit of anger, and he wouldn't have lost Lily!
Thinking of this, Snape was also furious!
"You idiot who doesn't even know his own position!"
His first choice was to stop Levi from speaking—the method was simple: if he took a few steps closer, the guy would naturally back away. Seeing Levi retreat a few steps in disgust, Snape's lips twitched again—come to think of it, how come he had never noticed before, did this guy wear perfume? Why did he have such a pleasant, fresh scent?
Snape's thoughts were interrupted, and his already sparse anger immediately subsided.
"I am the Head of Slytherin. What's wrong with me advocating for some benefits for the students of my house?"
And why are you so prejudiced against them?
Most of them were born pure-blooded and received family education from a young age. Aren't their foundations much better than those idiots with brains full of nonsense? They're also much easier to train!
The more he spoke, the more righteous and assertive he became—yes, so what if I favor my own house? Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore didn't say anything, so why are you, a Slytherin, making a fuss?
“Li Wei, I must remind you! No matter what, you come from Slytherin House, and you carry the mark and glory of Slytherin! Otherwise, those students would never have followed you.”
Li Wei frowned slightly.
"I don't need this kind of blind following."
"You need to redo this list—did your club activities go on like this during the two months I was petrified?"
That's terrible—you don't act like a professor at all.
When Snape saw that even his proud professorship was being questioned, he was truly enraged.
“Do I not look like a professor? Do you look like one? Making students do useless homework every day—I’ve never heard of a wizard growing up that way.”
"That's because you're too short-sighted, Snape—isn't the example right in front of you a living example?"
"."
Snape was speechless again.
He couldn't win an argument, and he was unlikely to win a fight either, plus he couldn't really take action. He was really at a loss.
"I really want to use a bottle of silence potion to poison your voice right now!"
"I don't want to drink potions made by a professor who looks so dirty."
Snape was even angrier.
He placed his hand on his wizard's robe, intending to turn away—but then he suddenly remembered that he was in his own office.
It wasn't him who should leave, but Li Wei.
“I have nothing more to say to you—now, leave my office, immediately!”
His approach might work for others, but it won't work for Li Wei—he wants to end things hastily before he's even finished explaining.
"The club's membership must be changed—Slytherin students can make up no more than 30%, that's my bottom line."
"That's too little!"
Snape turned and stared at him as if he were some incomprehensible monster.
Why does this guy have such a lack of belonging to the college he came from?
“Thirty percent is already a lot. Do you even know what that means for those students?”
Do you know how valuable the opportunity to learn from you and me is?
His words made Snape's lips twitch, and he almost burst out laughing.
But he held back.
"Yes, it is very precious—but..."
"Therefore, every additional Slytherin student is unfair to the outstanding students of other houses."
"Either you hire more people, or you even out the headcount and you choose."
Seeing Snape's gloomy face and silence.
Li Wei continued:
“Otherwise, we can split up the teaching – you teach the Slytherin students, and I'll teach the students from the other three houses.”
"Absolutely not!"
