Chapter 112 Hermione's Distraction
Chapter 112 Hermione's Distraction
Inside the dueling room, the assessment was still underway, but the entire arena was deathly silent; you could hear a pin drop.
Just now, the savior Harry Potter accomplished something truly terrifying.
He was only the second to go on stage, yet he had already figured out a way to quickly pass the levels and save time—and, apart from the fifth level, the Cutting Spell, and the sixth level, the Flame Spell, which took up some time, he only used two seconds for every single level—almost every single level!
I passed all four levels on my first try!
In the ninth level, "The Golden Thief Arrives," he only took one second!
And his grades are
"0 minutes and 25 seconds, even by the harshest standards, is a remarkable performance—Harry, congratulations."
Jowell smiled and informed Harry of the final result, resisting the urge to reach out and pat him on the shoulder—after all, Harry was practically his student.
With such a good performance, he also gained respect in front of the professor.
Harry let out a deep breath, a happy smile spreading across his face. He immediately turned to look at the professors' table—ignoring Snape's grumpy expression and looking directly at Professor Levy.
The other person had noticed his gaze and nodded slowly with a satisfied smile on their face.
"He's too good—after all, he's Lily's child, isn't he?"
Levi completely ignored Snape's earlier warning and looked at him mockingly.
"It's so-so—"
Snape's voice sounded muffled, as if coming from his nose, as he watched the lucky, dim-witted boy walk toward the waiting area, only to be suddenly grabbed and embraced by the even dimmer, red-haired boy.
"Dude—I really don't recognize you anymore—Merlin's beard, 25 seconds, are you trying to kill me?!"
Ron punched Harry hard, his expression a mix of emotions, but ultimately all of them coalesced into one emotion—happiness.
If Harry's grades were only slightly better than his, perhaps he would indeed be jealous.
But 25 seconds. Ron racked his brains but still couldn't figure out how to surpass that time—he even felt he wouldn't be able to break it next year.
It's okay for you to be a little jealous that your brother has taken off a bit faster than you.
Your brother is so awesome that he's about to fly into the sky and fly a spaceship. Don't you want to tag along and ask him to give you a ride?
Jealousy – Who would be jealous of a friend they can't catch up to at all?
Ron's mentality isn't that pathological.
"This is a long story—I'll tell you about it later—for now, let's cheer Hermione on."
"All right--"
Although Ron thought Hermione's performance wasn't very impressive—she was sure she'd pass anyway.
In the end, I might be the only one who doesn't get selected.
Ron stood behind Harry, watching him encourage Hermione, and then put his hands to his mouth to cheer Hermione on as well.
But what he was really thinking was—from today onwards, he would only play Wizard Chess for a maximum of one hour a day!
"Good morning, professors—my name is Hermione Granger, and I'm also a second-year student from Gryffindor."
Hermione greeted Levi and Snape politely, but her hands unconsciously clasped together—she was a little nervous.
The reason she let Harry go first was because she had a secret she couldn't tell anyone—she had begun to see Harry as her rival.
Although they are friends, this does not prevent them from competing with each other in their studies—especially since it concerns a spot in Li Wei's study group.
Only the best student in each year can join a professor's study group—Hermione absolutely doesn't want to be kicked out, even if Harry is the one to replace her.
Lately, she has become increasingly aware of Harry's rapidly improving magical abilities—she can no longer match his grades in practical classes, only in theory classes can she still surpass him.
But the professor's information was so detailed that it was only a matter of time before Harry caught up with her—the gap between them was getting smaller and smaller, unless he could also catch up relentlessly in actual combat!
Hermione wants to use Harry's completion time as a goal to challenge herself.
She had considered a minute, 50 seconds, or even 45 seconds, but she never imagined such a terrifying result as 25 seconds.
What was originally meant to motivate her to push her limits has now become a deadly curse.
"Hermione, you are an excellent student, almost perfect."
Just as Hermione's thoughts were wandering, her respected Professor Levi suddenly spoke—and his words were an affirmation that made her heart pound.
"It's a pity—I think you've always lacked a bit of self-confidence, which has made your performance less than perfect."
Hermione's mood immediately plummeted.
“Professor—I’ve had some questions on my mind lately—I was planning to ask you about them at the group meeting on Sunday.”
“I already know your problem—go ahead, try to believe in yourself, I don’t think you’ll do any worse than Harry.”
Li Wei seemed to know what she was thinking, and waved his hand at her, signaling her to try it boldly.
Hermione pursed her lips, suddenly feeling confident.
"She does have a bit of Professor McGonagall's style—an old scholar."
"Old and loves to show off his knowledge—is that your assessment of Professor McGonagall? I'll pass it on to her later."
"Do you really want to fight me to the death?"
Snape seemed to have been angered by Levi so much that he had developed a resistance—this time he didn't get angry, but just glared at Levi sideways—and he realized again that it was useless.
"A fight to the death? Aren't we on the same side? Why would we need to fight to the death?"
His words softened Snape's expression somewhat, and then Levi continued:
"I heard you have a spell that can help you fly directly through the air? Can you make a deal with me and teach it to me?"
Snape's expression changed slightly—he was happy to see Levi's idea of exchanging knowledge, but this particular spell was out of the question. It was taught to him by the Dark Lord, and he was the only one among all the Death Eaters who had mastered it.
"No, try a different spell."
He said it coldly, sounding rather unapproachable.
"Then let's go with the Divine Blade Without a Shadow?"
"If you want to change it, then change it. Don't look like you're so unwilling and that you've suffered a great loss."
"Then let's go with Divine Sharpness and Shadowlessness. What do you want?"
Both of them were looking in Hermione's direction, talking quietly.
"."
Snape hesitated for a moment, then pretended to be nonchalant and said:
"Tell me more about the method you just mentioned for entering the legendary realm."
"Yes—I told you—you need to open your heart."
Levi didn't look at Snape; his voice was sincere.
"You clearly care about these students, so why do you keep pushing away the people you care about, just like you did with Lily?"
