Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 138 Holiday Sunshine
Chapter 138 Holiday Sunshine
In the Three Broomsticks pub in Hogsmeade, afternoon light streamed through the windows, illuminating the dust particles that floated slowly in the air.
Because of the day off, this place is especially lively today.
However, compared to the hustle and bustle of Hogwarts at this moment, it is completely insignificant.
Li Wei strolled around Hogsmeade Village with two assistants, making introductions as they went.
I took them to a pink candy store and then to the Elegant Wizard Costumes store to pick out two new outfits for them.
Because all the professors at Hogwarts had gathered here for Free Day, they saw many acquaintances along the way and greeted them.
After visiting all the shops except the bar, Levi took them to the legendary Scream Shack.
This place has always been known as the scariest haunted place in all of Britain, and it's also a must-see attraction for every Hogwarts student visiting Hogsmeade Village.
"Strange—why doesn't this shack have a door?"
"Suspicious and paranoid."
Jowell and Camille stood in front of the Screaming Shack, their brows slightly furrowed.
Li Wei found their tense demeanor somewhat amusing.
Could it be that these two are scared—do they believe in that ghost story?
This is in the magical world.
"We're wizards, even without a door, surely we can get in?"
Li Wei offered a gentle reminder.
“Joely—you go.”
Jia Meier stood about a meter behind Qiao Weili.
"Me—? Okay."
As Jowell approached the shed, he suddenly felt a little nervous. He waved his wand and cast a transformation spell, temporarily conjuring a wooden door on one side of the shed.
Then, with a bit of nervousness, he opened it—what could be inside? An eight-eyed spider? A werewolf? Or perhaps!
The door opened, but there was nothing inside.
The house was dilapidated; all the windows were boarded up, letting in no light, as if it had been forgotten for decades.
All the furniture, including the armchairs and lamps, was covered in dust and looked crooked, as if it had been roughly moved or damaged.
The air was thick with the smell of dust and mold.
The three entered the cabin, each step leaving footprints in the dust on the floor and raising a suffocating cloud of dust.
Li Wei silently cast a hair-soaking spell on each other.
After shutting out the dust and smoke, Jovili and Camille began to carefully examine the interior of the shed.
The walls are the most shocking part of the entire environment.
The wallpaper was covered with deep tear marks, as if some ferocious beast had repeatedly scratched the walls and doors with its huge claws.
"These must be traces of a werewolf—did a werewolf live here?"
Joe Verri drew a conclusion.
Upon hearing that it was a werewolf, Jia Meier's initial worry vanished instantly, and she became cold and calm again.
"Boring—that's always the truth behind legends."
"Yes, once we figure it out, there's nothing to worry about."
Li Wei smiled and left the shed with the two men, restoring it to its original state.
After that, they lost interest in strolling around and simply set up a table outside Madame Patif's teahouse and sat down to drink tea outdoors.
The warm sunlight shone down, dispelling the chill from the shed, and the two assistants' expressions softened.
"Professor—although it's supposed to be a day of freedom, is it really alright if we don't have to stay inside the castle and keep watch?"
Qiao Weili took a sip of black tea and brought up the topic first.
Are you worried about something unexpected happening?
"Yes, although it is forbidden to use spells that can cause direct harm, those are a group of children, and it is hard to guarantee that no one will lose their temper. Moreover, a combination of spells may produce unexpected effects, and they probably do not understand the connection between spells."
“It’s alright—I’ve already asked the house-elves to keep an eye on things there—they’re all top-notch and scattered throughout the castle, so there won’t be any trouble.”
"That's good."
Jovel was relieved—he trusted the strength of house-elves, not to mention that Barton was there too, and his combat power was much higher than that of ordinary house-elves.
Jia Meier didn't care much about the students' affairs; she just leaned lazily against the makeshift rattan chair, quietly basking in the sun.
She looked much more relaxed after wearing the crown last time.
Not long after, Joe Willy's voice rang out again.
“Professor Snape—” A slick-haired figure in a black robe stopped by the roadside and nodded to Joe Willy.
Upon seeing Li Wei, his expression soured, but he still walked over.
"Snape—hello."
Li Wei greeted them lazily.
"Are you planning to stay here for the rest of the time?"
Snape glanced at the sunlight overhead with some annoyance.
"Isn't this place perfectly fine? What, do you have a better place to go?"
"Want to grab a drink? My treat."
Snape extended an invitation.
This surprised all three of them.
The sunlight shone directly on Levi's face at that moment, making it difficult for him to see Snape's expression.
“Great, it’s kind of you to invite me. Actually, neither of my students has ever had butterbeer before.”
Li Wei is a teetotaler.
The two students naturally inherited his consistent style.
"It's easy to imagine that they won't experience anything new or exciting while following a boring guy like you."
Snape's expression turned mocking again.
"You're treating—you're the boss."
Li Wei was too lazy to argue with him during such a comfortable holiday.
The four then turned to the Three Brooms Bar.
Because Hogwarts was on holiday, many professors had already gathered there, even though it was still daytime.
The four entered the bar, and without saying a word, Levi and Snape went straight to the table furthest away from the fireplace and the window.
“It’s been a long time, Professor Snape, and—Professor Levy—this is your first visit since you took office.”
The elegant Rosmerta greeted the two men as she wiped the wine glasses with a white silk cloth.
Snape did not respond, but simply nodded slightly.
"I didn't expect you to remember my name?"
Li Wei looked at the hotel owner with some surprise—during his entire student years, he probably came here no more than three times.
“I would never forget a wizard as special as you, even if I only met you once—come to think of it, I had only been running the bar for a short time back then.”
Her striking eyebrows and eyes smiled gently at Li Wei, as if there were deep, unfathomable depths hidden within.
"Would you like something to drink?" Her voice was full of warmth.
Snape glanced at Levi, and seeing that he didn't speak, he spoke up first:
"Breath of the Flame Dragon, and two butterbeers."
Rosmerta nodded and turned to leave.
Shortly after, two glasses of amber-colored spirit were served.
Then came the butterbeer ordered for the two assistants.
"Drinking such strong liquor in broad daylight, you really know how to do that."
Li Wei took a sip of the strong liquor in his glass, and a rare change appeared in his facial features.
He felt a line of fire slide down his throat and ignite his lower abdomen; this novel sensation made him exhale with pleasure.
Snape didn't say anything, but simply picked up his glass and took a big gulp.
Seeing that Li Wei's expression was still not calm, a smile quietly appeared on his lips.
"You say I'm closed off? I think your life is much more closed off and boring than mine."
"Otherwise what? These are all experiences I've had. Do you think I'm trying to harm you?"
Snape looked at the sincere Levi with a somewhat surprised expression.
It seems he did misunderstand Li Wei.
The warm sunshine shone on the two of them at this moment, dispelling much of their gloom.
Amidst the soft chatter of the surrounding patrons, the atmosphere of their conversation became unusually gentle.
Two assistants sat to one side, sipping butterbeer and listening quietly to the two professors' conversation.
