Chapter 180 What is your purpose in coming to Hogwarts?
“It’s getting late, you should go back to the common room first—I’ll have Barton tell the fat lady.”
Levi gave Harry a few words of advice, and then Levi turned his gaze to the big black dog.
"So, are you going to stay with Harry or with me?"
The big black dog snorted, looking somewhat annoyed.
Although he desperately wanted to be with his godson and learn more about what had happened to him over the years.
However, the current situation is clearly not so easy. The professor named Li Wei has obviously discovered his identity, and he has nowhere to hide or escape.
To be honest, Sirius felt he had acted a bit impulsively.
Entering the castle is easy, but leaving is difficult once you're exposed—especially if Dumbledore is also inside. He wouldn't be able to escape then.
But since he'd already done it, he had nothing to regret—now it was time to show his true colors—he wanted to see what this person was up to.
"Well then—professor, goodnight—and so will you."
Harry respectfully bid farewell to Levi, making sure to greet the big black dog as well.
"Wang."
Sirius let out a soft cry, turned around and followed behind Li Wei, his gaze resolute.
When Li Wei returned to his office, his two assistants were still in their rooms studying magic, and Lupin had not yet returned—he was clearly quite engrossed in his hard-won job, and had rarely seen anyone else during this time.
Without alerting anyone else, Li Wei led Sirius directly into his magic practice room.
With the outside sounds completely shut out by the door, the atmosphere inside the room suddenly became quiet and serious.
However, Li Wei seemed quite relaxed.
Looking at the moonlight streaming in, he casually moved two sofas to make room for conversation and sat down on the left.
Without any hesitation, the big black dog pattered its feet, leaped up, and sat on the sofa opposite Li Wei, standing on all fours with its tongue lolling out as it looked at him.
“There’s no one else here, Blake, so we can have an open and honest talk.”
Li Wei spoke in a calm tone, as if he were discussing tomorrow's weather.
"Or, would you prefer to remain in this form?"
"Woof—?"
Seeing the big black dog looking down at him with a puzzled expression, Li Wei chuckled softly.
"Animagus is an extremely advanced form of human transformation, referring to wizards who can transform into specific animals while retaining their magical abilities. According to the Ministry of Magic's register, only seven wizards in the 20th century possessed this ability."
However, some wizards secretly mastered this magic without reporting it, thus becoming unrecorded.
The confusion and pretense in the big black dog's eyes dissipated like the tide.
Instead, there was a resolute determination, like burning one's boats.
After a suffocating silence, its body began to undergo dramatic, visible changes.
The originally massive outline of the dog swayed and contracted like flowing water.
The thick black fur silently disappeared, merging into the regenerating skin. The powerful limbs quickly transformed into the shape of human limbs, and a dog's mouth rapidly enlarged, revealing human facial features.
In less than two seconds, the spirited dog that had just stood upright had turned into a scruffy man with his hands on his legs.
He was tall and thin, with tattered clothes hanging loosely on his body. His inhuman life, which had kept him from seeing the sun for a long time, had made his skin very pale, and his eye sockets were so deep that it looked as if someone had carved indented marks on them with a chisel.
Beneath that long, flowing black hair was a face etched with weariness, yet still bearing the untamed contours of a rebellious spirit.
[Sirius before he went to jail]
He crossed one leg, casually rested his hand on his knee, and leaned back slightly, exuding a sense of nonchalance. It's hard to tell how much of that composure was genuine, and how much was a reckless, desperate act of bravado.
"All right--"
His voice was hoarse from long-term disuse, but his tone was defiant.
"Now that you've caught me, what are you planning to do? Call the Ministry of Magic?"
As he spoke, his seemingly casual body subtly tensed—even without a wand in hand, he would try to fight to the death or run away if Levi showed any sign of something amiss.
Seeing Harry's condition, Sirius understood even more the responsibility he carried—he could not be easily captured.
“Notify the Ministry of Magic?” Levi gave Sirius a strange look. “Of course not. In fact, I’m not going to do anything—or rather, I wouldn’t mind helping you out.”
"help me?"
Sirius's heart skipped a beat, but his face showed utter disdain.
He leaned forward, his deep-set gray eyes, like those of an owl, fixed intently on Li Wei.
"Help me with this—according to the official account—a vicious Azkaban prisoner who killed thirteen people with a single spell, betrayed his most trusted friends, and sold them out to Voldemort?"
He emphasized each word heavily, with a strong sense of self-mockery and almost overflowing resentment, as if he were repeatedly stabbing himself with these imposed accusations, or as if he were testing Li Wei's bottom line.
"I believe you are not the kind of person who would do these things."
Li Wei's tone was so calm that it even seemed somewhat indifferent.
But to Sirius's ears, it still sounded like thunder.
"What did you say?"
I said—I believe you.
Li Wei looked intently at Sirius.
The moonlight reflected in his dark pupils, a calm yet captivating power.
"Why? I need a reason."
Sirius Black still frowned—more than feeling moved, he was confused.
"Because I know you wouldn't do such a thing, that's all."
Li Wei's tone was as if he were stating an objective fact, without any emotional appeal or emphasis.
This indifferent attitude gradually made Sirius feel a sense of familiarity, as if someone had once brought him this kind of strong impact.
But who was that person? Why does he have no recollection of them?
Sirius Black stared intently at Levi's face, trying to find some clue. Come to think of it, is this guy really a professor at Hogwarts? How come he looks so young?
Have we met before?
In the tense atmosphere, Sirius spoke up with a strange expression.
"We are classmates."
Li Wei's expression remained calm.
Sirius's expression changed drastically in a short period of time, going through a series of reactions: surprise, scrutiny, and hesitation. He gradually began to match the man in front of him with the blurry figure in his memory.
"You're Li Wei?!"
"I don't think I've ever hidden this fact?"
"You actually became a professor?"
Sirius Black stared wide-eyed, his expression strange.
"What is your purpose in coming to Hogwarts? Tell me, and I will consider whether or not to cooperate with you."
