Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 33 The Unusual Dumbledore
Chapter 33 The Unusual Dumbledore
"The basilisk is no longer here."
Li Wei stood up and began to understand the situation.
He quickly spotted his target—a cat was hanging on the torch stand, its body stiff as a board, its eyes wide open, staring straight ahead.
"It's Mrs. Norris!"
Harry's voice rang out, and everyone in the room looked grim.
Just as Li Wei was about to do something, a low, noisy sound suddenly arose, like distant thunder.
He frowned slightly, walked past his two assistants, and stood at the very front of Harry and his group.
Soon, the sound of hundreds of feet climbing the stairs could be heard from both ends of the corridor.
First, there was the professor leading the way, followed by a group of unruly troublemakers.
When the people in front saw the cat hanging upside down, the lively chatter suddenly stopped, and the students fell silent as they crowded forward to see the terrifying scene.
Li Wei stood alone in the middle of the corridor, facing the professors and students, keeping out the chill that seemed to draw all the heat from his body.
“Professor Levi,” Vice Principal Professor McGonagall stepped to the front of the group, “can you explain to me what happened here before?”
Her expression was tense, and her tone held a hint of hostility—no one could harm her students in front of her.
Harry and the others, seeing Professor McGonagall's intimidatingly serious expression, secretly swallowed hard, inwardly grateful to Levi for stepping forward at this moment.
A wave of unrest, a wave of up again.
Before Levi could speak, Filch's voice rang out again, probably drawn by the students' earlier voices.
"What happened here? What happened?"
He pushed his way through the crowd, and then he saw Mrs. Lorris. He stumbled back a few steps and clutched his face in horror.
But the person standing in front of him was Li Wei. Even though he was furious to the extreme, Filch, who needed Li Wei's help, still dared not harbor even the slightest resentment towards him.
"Calm down, Filch. It's not dead, it's just petrified. I promise it will return to normal, okay?"
"You mean it's not dead—but it's already like this—how can we save it?"
Filch appeared terrified.
"A potion made from mandrake will suffice, so calm down. We still need to find the killer, don't we?"
Levi patted Filch on the shoulder to comfort him.
During this time, the students watching kept whispering among themselves, while Professor McGonagall and the other professors looked at him with suspicion and uncertainty.
Li Wei frowned slightly and decided to take direct control of the situation—he disliked the current chaotic scene and would not allow it to continue to escalate.
"Deans of each college, please take your students back to their dormitories and fulfill your responsibilities immediately!"
"It's the professor!"
Under Percy's lead, the prefects gradually came to their senses and, at Levi's command, urged the students to leave.
"Those who oppose the heir, beware! You could be next! Mud—"
Draco Malfoy mingled in the crowd, shouting slogans, his face beaming with pride and self-satisfaction, seemingly proud of knowing some unknown past events.
Because the professors were present, he didn't say the word completely, but Professor McGonagall's expression still turned even more unpleasant.
The students left amidst the commotion, and then Dumbledore finally arrived at the scene, albeit late.
He stood between Levi and the professors, waved his wand, and removed Mrs. Lorris from the torch stand.
Li Wei watched his actions indifferently, without saying a word.
"professor--"
Hermione and her two companions peeked out from behind Levi, looking at him uneasily.
They didn't understand why this happened—what it meant.
"You all go back first, and go in another direction." Li Wei instructed the group to leave, his gaze still fixed on Dumbledore.
He couldn't quite figure out what the old man was thinking.
"Dumbledore—you've come—these naughty students, how dare they—"
Filch had calmed down, but after Dumbledore appeared, he couldn't help but start accusing again.
“A student couldn’t possibly do that,” Dumbledore firmly dismissed his guess. “It would require the most advanced dark magic—”
His gaze fell on Levi, deliberately ignoring Harry and the others who were leaving behind him.
His eyes looked very calm, and his gaze was devoid of any emotion, but anyone who saw his eyes would understand.
Cooperate with me first, and I will definitely give you an explanation later.
Li Wei understood the meaning in Dumbledore's eyes, but he didn't understand what Dumbledore wanted to do.
"Please allow me to say something, Principal."
Snape suddenly emerged from the shadows.
"There's clearly something fishy about this, and we need to make a careful judgment."
“I’m glad you’re so understanding, Severus.”
Dumbledore gave Snape a strange look—he had thought the latter would seize the opportunity to attack Levi.
"Gentlemen, I will find out what happened here. Please go back now."
Dumbledore dismissed all the professors.
Professor McGonagall walked away with a frown on her face, and she seemed extremely unhappy that the safety of Hogwarts was threatened.
But because she trusted Dumbledore, she eventually left.
For a moment, only Livy and Dumbledore were in the dimly lit corridor.
“I thought you would handle this well, Principal.”
Li Wei looked at Dumbledore and launched the first attack.
He could tell from Professor McGonagall and Snape's reactions that the two had clearly misunderstood something.
This aligns with speculation, since he was originally captured and made a professor because of his research on black magic.
Continuing this research at school, accidentally causing a magical accident, or cruelly experimenting on pet cats—everything seems perfectly reasonable.
But that doesn't mean Li Wei enjoys being unfairly blamed.
"I'm sorry, Li Wei, I bear the primary responsibility for how things have turned out this way."
Dumbledore was very sincere from the start.
"I hope you can give this old man some time so that I can slowly explain the whole thing clearly."
He gestured for Li Wei to find another place to talk.
"Of course, you also need to help me explain things to Professor McGonagall. I don't want her to misunderstand me."
"I promise you, I will."
The two walked all the way to the gargoyle stone beast statue on the spiral staircase.
"Lemon Olaf."
Dumbledore gave the command and led Livy upwards.
"This is the password for now, and I don't think I'll change it for a long time. If there's anything urgent, you can come directly to the principal's office to find me next time."
He was probably alluding to the time when Li Wei sent him a letter using an owl.
However, Li Wei was no longer in the mood to care about such things at this point.
