Chapter 54 Duel Club

In the past, Levi would spend his weekends researching magic.

However, as he became more dedicated and committed to his teaching, the distance between him and his students gradually narrowed.

The studious students regarded him as a great teacher, while the students with poor grades both feared and admired him.

As a result, on weekends, Levi was often disturbed by the former, and the days when he could concentrate on studying magic were gone forever—since his conversation with Dumbledore, he had lifted the spell on his office door.

After their heart-to-heart talk that night, Levi stopped leading them in studying dark magic and instead let them explore areas that interested them on their own. Both of them now have their own research labs and rarely come out except to rest.

It was only then that Li Wei learned that Jovel's favorite subject was memory-related magic, while Camille didn't seem to have any particular interest in it. So, on Li Wei's recommendation, Camille chose to study curses.

After all, the curse on her body hadn't been resolved yet; it was just that Camille's behavior towards Levi was so normal that he often forgot about it.

Just as Levi was about to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing off two Ravenclaw students, he saw Cedric walk in.

"Professor, we need your help."

He said this as he closed the office door.

"what happens?"

Seeing Hermione and the other two following him, Li Wei wondered when the four of them would finally discover the entrance to the bathroom.

"professor."

Hermione uneasily put down her wizard's robes and looked at Levi with a mournful face—just seeing Levi made her feel at ease, but the result of that ease was that she wanted to burst into tears again.

"You are Hermione?"

"It's me—Professor." Her voice was already tinged with tears. "I accidentally added cat hair to the compound decoction, and this is what happened!"

"Calm down, Hermione, it's nothing."

Seeing that she was losing control of her emotions, Li Wei offered a few words of comfort.

However, this time Hermione seemed to be really devastated, so much so that for the first time she did not listen to Livy.

"I can't calm down, Professor. The group meeting starts at 4 PM. What will everyone think of me?"
And the other classmates, they'll laugh at me to death! Am I going to have to stay in the hospital forever? I still want to get first place in the next monthly exam!

She poured out all her worries, and Harry and the other two looked on with sympathy.

Li Wei subconsciously shook his head.

Actually, he didn't understand what Hermione was talking about was so serious—even if it was just about maintaining this appearance on campus, what was wrong with it?

But it seems that she won't listen to me unless I solve her problem first.

'These students really do have different ideas—so in their eyes, temporarily growing cat ears, a cat face, and a cat tail is such a fatal thing?'

As Li Wei pondered, he took out his wand and gently tapped it, causing Hermione's cat ears to retract and turn into two triangular bumps with sides less than a centimeter long.

Then the black hair on Hermione's face gradually fell off, revealing her original skin.

Then her tail began to shrink, gradually disappearing behind the hem of her clothes, turning into a fluffy little ball.

After this transformation, although the body still retains sensation, it is no longer outwardly visible.

Cedric and the others watched this scene in shock, not understanding what Levi had done.

"Professor, can magic undo the effects of the potion?"

Cedric was the first to ask a question.

"No, that would be very difficult. I just used a clever trick."

I used shapeshifting to restore Hermione to near her original form, but the effects of Polyjuice Potion still linger in her body—I estimate, to be on the safe side, it will take at least six months to fully recover.

"Of course, Hermione, you can turn back to normal after Christmas when all the other students have left. Without the suppression, the shapeshifting effect of Polyjuice Potion should disappear in about twenty days. By the time Christmas is over, the effect on you will definitely be gone."

"Six months is fine, anyway, no one will be able to tell. I'll just be careful. If I have to look like that again, I'd rather die." Hermione's voice was tinged with smugness and resignation.

Li Wei shook his head and asked:
Do you know Animagus?

“Animagus?” Hermione frowned and thought for a moment before slowly replying, “I’ve read about it in books. Animagus are usually practiced to escape being hunted down or to carry out some secret mission. It can transform a wizard into a specific animal form at will.”

“That’s right. If you have the opportunity in the future, you will also learn this kind of magic. In fact, Animagus is a very important part of mastering advanced Transfiguration. During Transfiguration, you will appear in the form of an animal.”

Hermione frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then looked up and said:
"Professor, are you saying that appearance doesn't matter, and that my panic about becoming a cat-person, like those who laugh at me, is a sign of ignorance?"

"It's not as serious as you make it out to be, but just take it that way."

Hermione glanced at Levi, somewhat puzzled, but still led Harry and the others away.

“Cedric, you just said you got some information from the professor, what is it?”

"Well—first of all, the professor assured me that he has made progress on the matter of the locked room, and there will be no more basilisk attacks on people."

"Then, the professor said there was something interesting hidden in the girls' restroom."

"Something interesting?"

Everyone became interested, but the two boys looked rather annoyed.

What interesting things might be hidden in an abandoned girls' restroom?

Hermione, who had regained her energy, suddenly said:

"I have a feeling this is a test the professor has given us—we should look for it!"

Also, if not Malfoy, who would be the heir to Slytherin? Although the Basilisk threat is no longer a threat, I think we can still figure it out!

By the way, these two things might be the same thing!

"Then it's up to you, Hermione."

Ron waved his hand, completely uninterested—he simply didn't have the energy.

Harry was somewhat eager to try, but he didn't say anything—it would be too embarrassing for two boys to run into the abandoned girls' restroom every day and get caught.

Cedric's revelation of this matter was perhaps intended to give Hermione pause for thought—he also didn't want to go into the girls' restroom; if someone saw him, he would be so ashamed he'd want to crawl through a hole in the wall.

"Oh, so that's what you're thinking."

Hermione pointed at them—the boys all looked a little embarrassed.

But soon, she laughed again.

"Alright then, I'll take care of searching in the restroom. But I think it would be nice if we could get together regularly to exchange ideas, right?"

"Of course, you can come to me with any questions."

"So are we."

Harry and Ron repeatedly assured him.

The four of them exchanged glances and smiled.

In their eyes, the locked-room mystery has been completely resolved, and there's no need to be so tense about campus life anymore.

However, to those with ulterior motives, the series of locked-room incidents meant that the safety of Hogwarts could no longer be guaranteed.

A week later, a small group of people gathered around the bulletin board, reading the words on a piece of parchment that had just been nailed up.

The Hogwarts Duel Club.

It will be open to all students for the first time this Thursday at 8 p.m.
