Chapter 30 : Honeycomb Briquettes

Chapter 30 (Pressure Cooker 2): Honeycomb Briquettes

In November 2029, Liangguo Rocket City

Michael Max's grand plan to terraform Mars both shocked and fascinated Daphne. What kind of mind could come up with such a bold and crazy plan to create a "backup plan" for Earth?

Michael told Prince Harufa that he possessed a super energy source. He refused to discuss the specific theories and details. Even with Daphne, Michael strictly adhered to his promise of secrecy, revealing not a single word to her.

Daphne completely understood Michael's actions, especially since she had just signed a non-disclosure agreement, though Michael was unaware of it. Interestingly, the two lovers knew the same secret, yet they were keeping it from each other.

A few days ago, Professor Braun and his beloved daughter Daphne Braun came to Mr. E's office. Mr. E is the head of Liangguo's T Project. He is over 70 years old this year. His movements are a little slow and his energy is not as good as before, but his eyes under his white eyebrows still shine with wisdom.

Mr. E got straight to the point: "Daphne, welcome to Project T! The committee members unanimously agree that you are the right person for the job."

Daphne was surprised; she had assumed her father was simply taking her to visit an old friend. With a hint of doubt, she asked:
What is Project T about? Am I really a good fit for it?

Professor Braun looked at Daphne with affection and briefly explained the situation to her.

In 1936, Nikola Tesla submitted a paper to the scientific advisors of the British government entitled "The Dynamic Principle of Gravity".

In his paper, Tesla claimed that the universe was filled with an electromagnetic wave in all directions, which had an extremely fast speed, an extremely long wavelength, and an extremely high frequency. Tesla called it "superluminal wave".

When the diameter of any object in the universe exceeds the wavelength of hyperluminescence (170360 kilometers), it will be incident with hyperluminescence, generating enormous energy; otherwise, it will be diffracted and produce almost no reaction. This is why the human body is completely unaware of the existence of hyperluminescence.

In his paper, Nikola Tesla also proposed a completely new theory of gravity, which he believed was a response to whether the energy density in space was uniform or not. When an object moves into a region of high energy density, it accelerates, and vice versa.

In Tesla's theory of gravity, orbital motion in a gravitational field and uniform linear motion in an inertial frame are the same form of motion because their trajectories are lines of equal energy density.

Daphne Braun received a traditional scientific education from a young age, including classical gravitational law, general relativity, and the standard quantum model.

When she heard Tesla's theoretical views coming from her father, she was momentarily speechless.

Professor Braun seemed to have discerned his daughter's thoughts, and he reiterated the accepted criteria for testing theoretical hypotheses:

Make bold hypotheses, verify them carefully. They can be falsified, and they can be used for prediction.

Two months later, the awkwardness of Daphne and Michael keeping their secret from each other was finally broken.

Mr. E invited Michael to his office and told him that the T Project Committee had decided to establish an evaluation team.

Michael's Mars terraforming project will be the first risk assessment project for this team, whose members include his girlfriend, Daphne Braun.

Back home, upon seeing Daphne, Michael asked eagerly and with a hint of surprise, "Honey, I'm so happy for you to be involved in Project T. Were you amazed by Tesla's theory of faster-than-light waves?"

“Yes, Tesla was indeed a genius; his theories were completely ahead of his time,” Daphne continued. “But the application of faster light waves really worries me.”

"You're afraid my super-light wave power station will blow up Mars, aren't you? Haha!" Michael laughed and teased.

Daphne raised her eyes and said seriously, "I believe you and your assistants must have done an internal risk assessment, but humanity only has one solar system. If Mars really explodes, it will definitely affect Earth. What will happen then?"

Michael stood up, staring intently out the window. He turned to Daphne and said, "The risks should be manageable, Daphne. Do you understand me? Do you know what I want most?"

Daphne's heart tightened instantly. She remembered that Martha's letter not long ago had forced Michael to suspend the Enceladus experiment. Could her future evaluation report once again stifle the ultimate dream of this lovely and respectable man in front of her?

Daphne walked to Michael's side, rested her head on his shoulder, and said gently:
“Darling, I love you and I understand you very well. You’re not doing this for money, or even for yourself. What you’re doing is insuring the future of humanity.”

“But if this insurance policy itself carries risks, then no matter how much I love you, I won’t agree,” Daphne said firmly. The air in the room seemed to freeze. Michael’s breathing became rapid. He pushed Daphne away, his face flushed, and shouted:

"Aren't there any risks associated with nuclear power plants? If all the scientific and technological progress of mankind over the past few hundred years had been based on so-called risk assessments beforehand, how could we have achieved what we have today?"

“Daphne, I love you so much, I admire you as much as you admire me. Transforming Mars is my dream, and no one, including you, can stop me!” Michael stomped his foot, making the floor tremble.

Michael didn't notice that Daphne, swaying and grabbing the chair beside her, went limp and slowly slid to the floor. She felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and groaned, interrupting Michael:

"My stomach hurts, am I going to miscarry?"

Michael was pulled back to reality. He tensed up immediately and carefully helped Daphne out the door, into the car, and to the hospital.

On the hospital bed, Daphne looked haggard. Michael's personal doctor, holding the test results, said to Daphne:
"The rescue was timely, and the fetus should be saved, but you need to rest. At this stage of pregnancy, which is more than ten weeks, the risk of miscarriage is the highest. You need to manage your emotions and think about light and pleasant things."

"Will there be any aftereffects or any impact on the fetus?" Michael asked anxiously.

"It shouldn't be. We didn't use antibiotics or any sensitive medications; we only used a small amount of a purely biological stabilizer. The fetus is currently doing well," the doctor replied.

After having dinner at the hospital, Daphne's face finally regained some color. Michael stayed by her side the whole time, and following the doctor's instructions, he deliberately tried to talk about things that would make her feel relaxed:
"Remember the Silver Beach cruise ship? I can tell you love the sea. How about we take a yacht road trip after our baby is born?"

Daphne reached out and placed her hand on Michael's arm, saying softly:
"Darling, you really think of me as a little girl who needs comforting. What truly interests and excites me are Mars and Psyche!"

Michael couldn't help but laugh and shake his head, saying with emotion, "Hey! It seems I've found the right person. It's the best arrangement that God brought you into my life!"

Wouldn't a hospital bed be the perfect place to discuss Spirit Star?

Of course, a loving couple will always discuss topics they are both interested in, no matter where they are.

“Michael, it’s not that I don’t support your Mars terraforming plan; on the contrary, I think you’re incredibly creative! If the risk assessment passes and we really make Mars a backup plan, it will be a blessing for all of humanity.”

Encouraged by Daphne, Michael began to talk at length about his Mars terraforming plans. The two dreamed and discussed, their love and imagination illuminating the entire ward.

The conversation then turned to Spirit Planet, and Daphne asked:

"Michael, Psyche should be part of a planet's metallic core, which is liquid lava. After it was ejected and cooled, why does it have multiple holes? And why are they so regular?"

Before Michael could answer, Daphne pressed on, "Do you think it's possible that Psyche originated from the core of Mars?"

“It’s highly likely. Psyche is a metallic core that burst from Mars. I think that’s the best explanation for this purely metallic celestial body so far,” Michael said.

“Regarding the question of the holes on Psyche, VESSEL gave me an answer: Psyche is very likely a man-made honeycomb briquette,” Michael explained with a smile. “I asked an artist how to cast a metal honeycomb sculpture with multiple holes inside.”

"Using multiple pillars to reinforce the Martian crust tightly compresses the internal molten metal. The molten metal is continuously heated, eventually breaking through the crust and erupting in a concentrated burst." Daphne, recalling the wax casting process, immediately understood and said:

"The metallic lava encased the dense column and cooled in space. After the column weathered, it formed the multiple pores on Psyche."

"Manufactured multiple pillars to create a metal asteroid with holes? That doesn't make sense! Besides, where did the 'person' come from?" Michael muttered to himself, puzzled.

Daphne said, "Whatever the reason, if the massive, multi-column structure was embedded deep in the Martian crust before the explosion, it would have left a mark on Mars afterward."

As the two looked at each other, they simultaneously thought of:
Before Mars exploded, it was like a pressure cooker. The towering cliffs thousands of meters high around Olympus were the "mold" left behind after the column flew out!
