Chapter 61 (Long Epoch 1): The Alignment of Five Planets
6500 million years ago, Earth
The destruction of Saturn's Iapetus superluminal power station has resulted in the emergence of a very special satellite in the solar system.

The carbon fiber tubes that wrap around most of Iapetus's equator absorb superluminal waves and release heat, causing Iapetus's equator to bulge, making its northern and southern hemispheres appear to be welded together, leaving a long weld seam at the equator.

Fragments of unidentified spacecraft and components of a hypersonic power station are scattered across the eastern hemisphere of Iapetus, causing the surface ice crust to melt and exposing rocks and sediments, which appear as a dark, barren expanse.

The western hemisphere is unpolluted, and its ice shell is crystal clear, making the satellite bright in the western hemisphere and dim in the eastern hemisphere, thus becoming a veritable "two-faced" satellite.

The Iapetus base is unable to store the consciousness code of 60 billion Venusian humans, so Tesla must find a giant "hard drive".

This "hard drive" cannot be easily melted ice, nor can it be weathered rock; ideally, it should be a metal that can maintain its stable properties even after millions of years.

Currently, the variety and number of mammals on Earth are far from sufficient, with only a small number of rodents. Furthermore, the oxygen concentration is too low. If Venusian human genetic material were "spread" in the Victoria region, the organic matter would be quickly decomposed, completely failing to achieve the intended purpose.

Tens of millions of years later, what counting methods and positional systems will future humans on Earth use? The data is inscribed on asteroids, which act as hard drives, and can only be read after humans on Earth invent electronic computers.

In the future, humanity will likely have two different counting and positional numeral systems: one for the human brain and one for computers. The positional numeral system used by the human brain is relatively clear; it will definitely be decimal.

The reason why the decimal system will definitely be used is easy to understand. The simple and intuitive reason is that people have two hands, each hand has five fingers, and if you count on your fingers, two times five equals ten, so the decimal system is used.

The fundamental reason is that the decimal system is the most suitable number system for human brain calculation, or mental arithmetic.

Even a primary school student, if you ask him what 10^25 equals, he will immediately tell you that the answer is 1 followed by 25 zeros.

Tesla's computing devices use a more efficient and energy-efficient ternary-based composite number system algorithm for calculations, and store data in higher-order number systems, such as base 72 or base 360, as needed.

How can we guide future generations of Earthlings to use a positional system consistent with Tesla's own? First, we must find a universally accepted unit of measurement and a recurring, unchanging cycle. Earthlings will certainly be able to see the stars in the sky and observe the cyclical conjunctions of the planets with Earth.

Recording time and drafting legislation are basic human needs for survival.

After the emergence of primitive Homo sapiens in the Victoria region, it would take about 200 million years for them to evolve into an advanced civilization.

“It takes 6300 million years for Homo sapiens to appear, so you’d need to create an extremely long-term calendar,” Maria exclaimed.

Tesla's calendar served two purposes: first, to allow future Earthlings to calculate back to the time when dinosaurs went extinct and humans existed; and second, to understand the positional system used in the data inscribed on asteroids.
