Mysterious Resurrection: What If
Chapter 189 Anomalies in the Chat Channel
Chapter 189 Anomalies in the Chat Channel
"What did I tell you! I knew this internet cafe's computers had viruses, so everyone should stay away from here."
"Damn it! No wonder my Dragon Slayer Sword disappeared! Turns out my account was hacked!"
"It must have been infected with a virus, otherwise how could the account have been wiped clean?"
"Oh dear, this young man is in a terrible situation..."
Everyone chimed in with their own opinions.
However, the scene was quite bizarre. The expressions of these people were extremely stiff, their faces seemingly frozen on their heads by something, making them look incredibly eerie.
Zhang Wei didn't notice these abnormalities. His expression was worse than if he had eaten shit, staring at the screen with a constipated look on his face.
He's been playing this game since the open beta, and he's accumulated a lot of resources and collected most of the weapon skins. But he never expected that just by going online, all of these things would be gone.
Seeing that someone seemed to be causing trouble, the blond-haired man walked over from behind the bar.
"Brother, what's wrong?"
Before Zhang Wei could even speak, the green-haired man blurted out, "Li Ming, your machine has a virus! It ruined my brother's account! If you don't give me an explanation today, I'll bring some men and smash this lousy place up!"
He spoke with righteous indignation, as if he and Zhang Wei were brothers for many years and he had to stand up for him and seek justice.
In reality, Zhang Wei didn't even know his name.
The blond-haired man's face darkened, and he coldly retorted, "Lin Jian, do you have a corn in your eye? This machine was newly installed the day before yesterday, all the guys in the internet cafe saw it! It's a brand new configuration, how could it possibly have a virus?"
He turned to Zhang Wei, his tone softening: "Brother, look at these components, they're all the latest this year. I installed them myself yesterday. You can ask anyone if you don't believe me."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone in the crowd immediately chimed in, "That's right! I saw Li Ming install the machine with my own eyes, it was spotless!"
Another person sneered: "Lin Jian, you think dyeing your hair green makes you a member of the Funeral Love Family? The Remnant Blood Family can still beat you to a pulp!"
Ignoring the crowds on the verge of fighting, Zhang Wei slumped in front of his computer, his hard-earned account gone just like that.
Suddenly, Huang Mao remembered something, "Bro, did you watch some Japanese adult films while you were playing somewhere else and get trolled, which is why your account was hacked?"
Zhang Wei was stunned for a moment, then his face suddenly turned ugly.
A scene suddenly flashed through his mind: this morning, he had inadvertently pushed open his bedroom door and seen Zhao Lei sleeping in the same bed with two men. That bastard had even used his computer!
"Holy shit!!! Zhao Lei!!!"
Zhang Wei suddenly stood up, knocking the chair to the ground.
"That bastard's gay! He's probably using the computer to learn some new positions!"
"Bro, what's gay?" the blond guy asked blankly from the side.
The green-haired man chimed in, "It's just guys together, you get it? You're uncultured."
Zhang Wei ignored these people and pushed aside the crowd, yelling, "Damn it! My skin is all gone! I'm going back to settle the score with him!"
He pushed his way out of the crowd, feeling a cold touch on his hand. The sensation was strange; it didn't feel like the skin of a living person, but rather like touching a cold corpse.
He shivered and instinctively turned around, only to see stiff, lifeless faces surrounding him, as if they were truly corpses.
"Brother, where are you going?"
Suddenly, the blond-haired man blocked his way, his pupils lifeless and devoid of any vitality. "Get out of the way!" Zhang Wei slapped him, making the blond-haired man's head tilt to the side, but he didn't react at all.
Zhang Wei continued, "Leave the computer running for me, I'll be back in a bit."
His words seemed to trigger some kind of pattern, and the blond-haired man immediately stopped in his tracks, ceasing all movement.
Zhang Wei didn't notice these details. He kicked open the internet cafe door, hailed a taxi on the roadside, and got inside.
The car door slammed shut, and the taxi slowly drove away.
However, what he didn't notice was that the sign of the Blue Moon Internet Cafe behind him appeared blurry in the sunlight, like a street lamp that might go out at any moment, flickering on and off.
Inside the internet cafe, everyone had returned to their original seats and were staring at their screens again.
Amidst the swirling smoke, these people appeared dazed, as if unaware of a certain fact, remaining lost in the world of the game.
The game characters are also not right.
On the computer screen, the game characters controlled by these people were like a choppy movie scene, constantly repeating a certain scene, but the people surfing the Internet here were completely unaware, still numbly manipulating the keyboard and mouse.
Yellow Hair returned to the bar, lit a cigarette, and mechanically exhaled a smoke ring, seemingly waiting for the next customer.
Just then, a man came in to top up his internet fee. It was the same internet cafe pro Zhang Wei had met at the beginning. This man looked like he had been in the internet cafe for too long; his face was pale, and he looked like he was about to die.
The conversation between the two was also very strange, exactly the same as what Zhang Wei had just heard. It was as if this scene had been repeated countless times.
After topping up his internet fee, the internet cafe pro returned to his seat and continued playing games, staring blankly at the screen.
Before long, his internet fee was about to run out again, so he got up once more and prepared to walk towards the bar.
The entire internet cafe seemed to be caught in some kind of bizarre loop, but no one inside noticed and remained focused on the game on the screen.
However, in this endless cycle, the only difference is Zhang Wei's computer.
The game on the screen was still running normally, the initial character was standing quietly in the lobby, and messages kept popping up in the world chat.
"Have you heard? There seem to be some paranormal stories circulating lately. Everyone should watch their mouths when playing games, or you'll be in big trouble if that ghost comes looking for you through the internet."
"Nonsense! Ghosts? I specialize in catching ghosts!"
"What era are we living in? There are still people who believe in this stuff. We should believe in science."
"Are there female ghosts? I think I can..."
At this moment, a person with the ID "Mad Bear" posted a message: "Don't disbelieve me, I have exclusive information. It seems that a department called 'Ghost Tamer Headquarters' is being established in Dajing City recently. It's making a big fuss about it. It's a department that specializes in catching ghosts."
"Damn it, who the hell are you? What are you bragging about? If you knew the inside story of Dajing City, would you still be playing games here?"
"Why would I lie to you? Have you heard of WeChat Moments? My surname is He, and I just joined this company. This information is all verifiable. You can search for it yourself if you don't believe me! You can find it on a website called Paranormal Forum!"
"Holy crap! Is this for real? Is it the same WeChat Moments we know?!"
"Boss! Please accept my bow!"
