Mysterious Resurrection: What If
Chapter 72 First Battle
Chapter 72 First Battle (Part 7)
The group had been walking through this world of flames for about ten minutes, but still had not reached their destination.
“Almost.”
Li Jun looked at the old spoon in his hand. It was a supernatural object that could find the location the user desired, but every time it was used, the ghost inside the spoon would attack the user. Li Jun had been resisting the ghost's attacks all the way.
At this moment, the tip of the spoon had cracked slightly, and the upper limit of this supernatural object was almost reached. Simply put, the spoon was about to be resurrected by a vengeful spirit. However, Li Jun did not say anything. The green flames on his body flickered continuously as he continued to lead everyone forward.
"and many more."
Just then, Shen Lin suddenly stopped. A very soft voice rang in his ears. The voice sounded like the tone of some kind of musical instrument. Although it was very faint, it seemed extremely illogical in this ruin.
"Listen carefully, what's that sound coming..."
Wang Chaling immediately turned his head, looked in one direction with a furrowed brow. He had been exposed to many musical instruments before, and he was very familiar with this sound.
"Piano music?... Everyone be careful!"
The faint sound gradually amplified until even Li Jun could hear it. It was a strange piano sound, as if it were drifting out from the flames. The notes intertwined, deep and eerie, like a melody that did not exist in reality, penetrating everyone's eardrums.
But it was too late.
Without warning, a large, fat figure suddenly appeared above everyone's heads. This person was wearing the kind of waterproof apron that only pigs slaughtered in a slaughterhouse would wear, and was holding a rusty, chipped cleaver in his hand, which he chopped straight at Li Jun's head.
Yang Jian was the first to react, raising his machete to block the sudden attack.
"boom!"
The moment the blades clashed, a dull thud resounded, as if two corpses had collided violently.
The butcher's attack was stopped, but a hideous wound immediately appeared on Yang Jian's hand, exactly the same as the blade of the cleaver in the butcher's hand.
A hint of surprise flashed in Yang Jian's eyes. It seemed that the razor-bladed kitchen knife could attack him without direct contact, which was similar to the characteristics of a woodcutter's knife. However, Yang Jian did not know what kind of medium the kitchen knife required.
The butcher had a face full of scars and a violent, unrestrained look in his eyes. He didn't give Yang Jian any time to think and raised his hand to strike again, aiming straight for Yang Jian's head.
The headless, dark shadow behind him suddenly stood up and lunged at the butcher.
The blade struck the headless ghost with tremendous force, nearly cleaving it in two. At the same time, an identical, gruesome wound appeared on Yang Jian's chest.
Yang Jian stared at the kitchen knife in the butcher's hand. This method of attack was too bizarre. It could actually hit him through a ghost. The way this medium was triggered was even more perverted than the woodcutter's knife. Especially in this level of supernatural confrontation, once he used his own supernatural power, it meant that he would be hit 100%.
"Can everything I've come into contact with become a medium? Or is it just the supernatural phenomena I've personally experienced...?"
The butcher noticed Yang Jian's confusion, his eyes flashing with even more ferocity, and a chilling smile appeared on his face.
"Stop guessing, just let me chop you into mincemeat." On Wang Chaling's side, a little girl who looked like a doll appeared in front of him. The girl looked to be about ten years old, with a pale face and a pair of dull and lifeless eyes that exuded a deathly aura. She stared at him blankly, like a dead person.
The two lifeless old men behind her immediately raised their arms and grabbed the strange girl from a distance.
However, Wang Chaling did not notice that behind him, there was another girl who looked exactly the same, watching him with a gloomy expression. The moment the two old men moved, the girl suddenly reached out her palm and pierced through Wang Chaling's chest.
A flicker of surprise crossed Wang Chaling's face. He looked down at the gaping hole in his chest; the girl's hand was clutching his still-beating heart. Then, with a sudden squeeze, the heart burst open, blood splattering onto his face. Wang Chaling slowly collapsed.
Shen Lin had already started to act the moment the twins appeared, but he was stopped by a strange old man who was shirtless, thin and frail, with one hand stiffly raised above his head as if holding something.
Shen Lin immediately sensed something was wrong. He followed the old man's arm upwards and saw a pitch-black coffin that looked dilapidated and as if it were about to fall apart at any moment. At this moment, the coffin, which was originally blurry in his vision, slowly became clearer as the old man lowered his arm.
In that instant, Shen Lin was surprised to find that he could not move his body. It was as if someone had pressed him to the spot, and he couldn't even blink.
However, he was still conscious at this moment, his eyes looking into the inside of the coffin. Through the cracks in the coffin, he could see pairs of terrifying eyes. These eyes looked lifeless, all staring at him intently, and their number was constantly increasing.
The old man had lowered his arm halfway down, and the blurry coffin had become solid, as if it had invaded reality from some unknown supernatural place.
Suddenly, the coffin shook violently, as if a ghost was trying to escape. An arm covered in lividity slowly emerged from inside and reached for Shen Lin's head.
His vision blurred, and Shen Lin couldn't even see his surroundings clearly. The whole world seemed to be covered with a layer of frosted glass, appearing hazy and indistinct.
As the hand touched Shen Lin, a lot of black hair suddenly rushed out of the coffin, increasing in number, looking like countless black water jets rushing towards Shen Lin.
But it wasn't over yet. Beneath the overwhelming black hair before him were terrifying human heads, all rolling towards Shen Lin along the hair.
His vision was obscured by the black hair, and he could hear countless painful wails in his ears. Those heads were pressed tightly against Shen Lin's ears, constantly emitting chilling howls.
A pale hand suddenly reached out from the darkness, grabbed Shen Lin's head, and pulled him into the coffin without making a sound.
At this moment, a dark green flame suddenly surged out from Li Jun's center, trying to protect everyone inside.
But the next moment, the color of the green flames in the sky suddenly changed, as if they were coated with a deeper green light, and the color became extremely strange and vivid.
As a clear piano note echoed, Li Jun's will-o'-the-wisp slowly transformed into tattered sheets of paper, drifting into this world of flames before finally being burned to ashes.
Li Jun's body was being compressed into a flat surface, making it look as if he had been pasted into a painting.
Li Jun's ghost domain disappeared, and the reflection of an oil painting burning with eerie green flames quietly appeared. In front of this oil painting sat a decadent vagrant, exuding a cold aura, holding an old paintbrush in his hand, painting the attack suffered by the captains in front of him.
"This is what they call a captain? Nothing special."
An obese butcher walked up carrying a head, with a headless corpse holding a wood-chopping knife behind him.
