Chapter 63 Cemetery
The scene before them made everyone slow their pace.

This is a long-abandoned cemetery, with dozens of crooked tombstones standing in the night like silent sentinels.

This is not the official cemetery of Blackrock. It is said that a long time ago, this place was a mass grave of some unknown village, and later some homeless people were buried here.

Over time, many terrifying legends circulated, such as hearing a woman's cries in the dead of night and the flickering will-o'-the-wisps, but most of them were just nonsense.

This is the first time anyone has witnessed the appearance of skeleton soldiers.

It's only just nightfall; it's not yet time for the skeletons to appear.

Marcus looked around and chose a slightly elevated hillside next to the cemetery as a resting place for the team.

"Just wait over there."

Marcus pointed, "From this vantage point, it's easier to observe."

The four hid in the bushes behind the earthen slope, quietly waiting for their chance.

As night deepened, a pale, full moon hung high in the sky.

The cool moonlight spread across the earth, gilding each tombstone with a silvery glow.

Perhaps because he was next to a cemetery, Zellier felt that it was colder than usual tonight, and he unconsciously tightened his robes.

In the distance, from the forest, an unknown strange bird let out a series of mournful cries. A gust of cold wind swept by without warning, rustling the bushes and sounding like the whispers of ghosts, which made one feel a chill down one's spine.

To pass the time, Zellier began to review the spell structures he had learned in his mind, while Marcus wiped his battle sword, and Gray yawned, seemingly a little sleepy.

Vales closed his eyes silently, but his ears twitched slightly from time to time as he listened intently to all the sounds around him.

However, a short while later, Vales's angry growl rang out.

"Grey, don't drool on me!"

Finally, it was midnight.

Wallace's ears twitched several times. He suddenly looked toward the center of the cemetery and whispered.

"coming."

"Squeak... squeak..."

A sickening scraping sound came from the center of the cemetery, and the ground seemed to tremble slightly.

suddenly.

With a "whoosh," a hand made of withered bones suddenly pierced through the soil and emerged from the ground.

The five fingers of that hand dug forcefully into the soil, then, supporting itself, it slowly pulled a skeleton out of the grave.

Individual Threat Rating: [Simple]

Appearance features:

Undead creatures derived from human corpses, their appearance is the skeleton itself, and they usually show a variety of colors, ranging from yellowish-white to brownish-black, depending on the length of time they have been buried.

Skeleton soldiers usually have a pale green flame burning in their eye sockets, which is the core of their actions.

Skeleton soldiers have no physiological needs; their sole purpose is to obey the commands of their creators or their primal instinct of hatred.

They are usually found in places with a strong aura of death, such as ancient battlefields, abandoned cemeteries, and cursed ruins.

special power:

It's practically nothing. If we had to say what abilities the skeleton soldiers have, it would probably be that they don't feel pain.

Core weakness:

skull.

Breaking the skull will instantly destroy its ability to move, but note that it is to break it, not to penetrate or injure it.

Association Notes:

Charge in! These monsters are even better sitting ducks than goblins, making them perfect for novice adventurers to hone their skills. But be careful, if there are more than ten skeletons, there's a chance that some of them might be mutated evil remains.

Other.

Remember to finish them off. Skeleton soldiers are not ordinary creatures; they won't cry out in pain or flinch even if they're missing limbs. Be sure to break their skulls.

The first skeleton soldier to emerge slowly twisted its neck, making a 360-degree turn, and eerie green flames ignited in its empty eye sockets.

Then, one after another.

"Shh! Shh! Shh!"

Similar scenes unfolded throughout the cemetery, with surrounding grave mounds being broken open one after another, and more than twenty swaying skeletons crawling out from underground.

The once quiet cemetery suddenly became lively.

"Good guy."

Gray rubbed his eyes. "There really are guys who don't want to rest in peace even after they've died."

Marcus squinted and counted carefully.

"There are twenty-six in total, but we haven't seen any malignant remains yet."

He began to quietly devise tactics.

“Gray, you stay with me at the front. These skeletons are mindless. Zellir Vales, you two can do whatever you want.”

Marcus drew his sword. "Let's do it!"

He was the first to straighten up from the embankment and then rush straight down!

"okay!"

Gray followed closely behind, and the moment his longsword was drawn, the clear light and moonlight condensed together, exuding a chill.

The sudden appearance of the two immediately attracted the attention of the skeleton soldiers who were wandering around haphazardly.

The ghastly green flames of the 26th Regiment turned sharply toward them, and the empty jawbones of the skeleton soldiers opened and closed, making a grating "clattering" sound.

Some skeleton soldiers picked up broken bone fragments from the ground, while others simply snapped their ribs off their chests and used them as weapons.

The skeleton soldiers moved stiffly and charged forward.

"Come on! A bunch of skeletons!"

Marcus roared and charged forward with his shield, crashing into a skeleton soldier's arms.

"Boom!"

With a dull thud, the skeleton soldier's breastbone shattered into pieces and flew off.

As it lost its balance, Marcus drew his sword and slashed down, the thick back of the blade providing steady power, severing the skeleton soldier's neck.

"Crack!"

The skull hit the ground, but this wasn't fatal; the ghastly green flames in the skeleton soldier's eye sockets were still burning.

Marcus followed up with a shield smash, bending down to shatter the skull.

The ghastly green flames finally died down, and the remaining headless skeleton stood there blankly for a moment before scattering into a pile of useless white bones with a "crash".

Just as he finished off this skeleton soldier, two more skeletons came from the flank, raising their rib blades and aiming directly at Marcus's head.

Marcus neither dodged nor evaded, but simply thrust his shield upwards forcefully.

Shield Bash!

The immense force sent one of the skeletons flying into the air, while the other was knocked back several steps.

Marcus seized the opportunity, his sword flashing and slashing across the bones, sending bone dust flying.

At this point, he no longer aimed to shatter the skull directly; even destroying most of the skeleton soldier's body would significantly weaken its combat power.
